I shopped at United Refrigeration Inc. in Morehead City NC for a replacement fan motor and fan blade. I brought both old items in to ensure I purchased the right size motor and blade. The older man gave me a fan blade after measuring my old one. I made the purchase at 12:59 PM on 9 July 2014. I returned within 1 hour and 30 minutes with the fan blade and explained that it did not fit. The older man placed the blade on the counter and made it rock just ever so slightly. Then said out loud "Cain't do nothing with it". I asked what he meant, and that I simply wanted to exchange it for a smaller blade. He again said the same thing. I then told him to just get me a smaller blade so I could fix the exhaust system. I told the older man and the lady behind the counter that I could not believe they could not take back the larger fan blade. It was obviously not damaged. I told them I would not return to there store and they said "that's fine". So they did not offer any explanation of their store policy, nor did they show any interest in providing any customer service. I had no choice but to buy a smaller blade at the exact same price at 2:35 PM the same day. At a minimum I would like a full refund in exchange for item number [redacted] and a written apology for their extremely poor customer service. The fan blade was not returnable at that point as it was damamged...this is also an industry wide policy.However, the Revdex.com complaint states that there was no damage to the fan blade....but if so we would have exchanged it for a new unit.At the branch Mr. [redacted] admitted he damaged the fan blade on install but still requested an exchange at no cost. He was advised as politely as possible that we could not exchange it due to the fact that he had admitted he damaged it. In 7-18-14 email Mr. [redacted] admits that he bent it when trying to install the fan blade. In fact he states in 3 different paragraphs (#1,2 &4) that he bent it installing it. This is a direct contradiction to the Revdex.com complaint in which he states that the ..."the fan blade. It was obviously not damaged"I have left voice messages for the owners of the company: Mr and Mrs [redacted] but no response.I have left 3 voice mails for Mr. [redacted] and spoke to him briefly yesterday but he had to get off the phone and promised to call me back but never did.Additional info:Mr. [redacted] needed a fan blade and motor for a cooking stove exhaust vent hood. This should have been sourced from a restaurant supply company as they deal with the "hot side of commercial kitchen equipment and would have been familiar with his request.Rather Mr. [redacted] chose to purchase the parts from a Refrigertion Supply house (URI).Mr. [redacted] was obviously not aware that we do not deal with the "hot side" of commercial cooking equipment and would not have info on specific models / requirements of vent hoods.The older gentleman that Mr. [redacted] refers to as [redacted] has over 40 years experience and is a former Regional Manager for this company.I am sorry that Mr. [redacted] did not call me immediately as would have refunded his $15.84 out of good-will. Instead,Mr. [redacted] maligned our fine company without giving me an opportunity to resolve his concern.
