United Steel Products, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: Enclosed are two letters sent to the company which outline a failure to perform [redacted] of the work requested, but for which we have been billed in terms of the mechanic's trip to the premises and his time there. We have tried to be very civil about this matter, but the only response we get from the company are bills demanding payment. We have consistently said that we do want to settle our account, but do not want to pay for work requested, but not performed. Again, the only response from the company has been dead silence about this issue.

Re: #**Re: #[redacted]

Sir:

We have been customers for 10 plus years and we pride ourselves on taking care of our obligations promptly.

That said, regarding the supra cited statements, we would have you know that we requested on both occasions that the timer on the unit be set at 3 to 5 minutes.

On neither occasion, however, was the adjustment requested done. As a result, the gate continues to automatic**ly come down after approximately one minute, causing unnecessary wear and tear on the motor, precisely what we wanted to avoid.

Given that the requested timer adjustment was not done, we feel that either one of two options is in order, namely that

1) a mechanic be sent to adjust the timer as we requested, after which payment will be promptly made, or, in the **ternative, that

2) an accommodation and consideration for these two statements be made for failure to do the requested adjustment.

We await your reply.

Re: #[redacted]We are trying very hard to maintain amicable relations with United Steel Products.

Regarding the supra cited bills, we asked for two things to be done:

1) Adjust the gate so that it would work properly;

2) Re-adjust the gate timer to 3 to 5 minutes to save wear and tear on the motor.

Item one was done. Item two was NOT done.

On both occasions, the mechanic, who was sent, failed to make the gate timer readjustment. Whether he negligently failed to do so, or intention**ly failed to do so is irrelevant. The fact is the readjustment requested was not performed. In essence, we are being charged in full for the mechanic’s trip and time, but he performed only one h**f of what he was asked to do while present.

On both occasions, we complained about this failure to perform as requested. USP’s response has been to simply ignore our complaints and send us bills which charge us in full for the mechanic’s trip to the premises and time there, but makes no mention of the mechanic’s negligent or intention** failure to re-adjust the gate timer as requested.

Our position is simple. Either perform the work requested by re-adjusting the timer, or grant an accommodation for having failed to do so.

We do want to settle this account, but do not want to pay for work requested, but not performed. [redacted] Re**ty Corp.[redacted]/fax [redacted]

p.s. I have included a copy of the previous note, sent by certified mail and signed for by a USP representative, which outlines USP’s failure to do the work requested.Desired Settlement: We have asked for either one of two things to reflect the requested work NOT performed: 1) Performance of the work requested; 2) A billing adjustment that reflects the work requested, but NOT performed.

Response:

[redacted],

[redacted]is never present when work is performed at his property. He has us contact one of his tenants when we are on site. Sometimes the tenant will give our tech different instructions and in an effort to satisfy the customer he does what they say. Unfortunately, this is what happened here.

We ave contacted Anthony and made arrangements with him to meet one of his tenants at **. His tenant will be responsible to verify the work has been done to Anthony’s requirements. We plan on performing the requested work the week of March [redacted].

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[I spoke with [redacted] on Thursday March **. At that time, he told me that a mechanic would possibly be on premises to address the issue in question on Friday, March **, but more likely would be on premises either Monday, March **or Tuesday, March **. I gave him a cell phone contact number and a landline contact number so that someone would be available to give the mechanic access to the gate. Suffice it to say that no mechanic came on March **, nor did anyone show up on March **or March **. Can you imagine if I had been on premises, waiting presumably **l day for someone who never showed up? What a waste of time that would have been! But that does not seem to concern [redacted].

I have now been told that a mechanic will be on premises the week of March **, but have not been given a specific date. Until a mechanic actu**ly shows up to perform the work requested, my complaint has clearly not been resolved.

It bears repeating that the request made of United Steel Products was to adjust the gate timer. This request was made on two separate occasions by the owners of the building. Since when are the instructions of the owners of the building trumped by the "supposed" contrary directive of someone who has given the mechanic access to the gate? This is a preposterous assertion on its face.

I truly hope that this coming week will fin**ly see a resolution to our complaint about a service requested, but NOT rendered.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business

As promised we completed the changes to the timer as per [redacted]’s requirements the week of March **. One of [redacted]’s tenants signed for the work and [redacted]has paid his open invoices. I believe [redacted]is now satisfied.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. As promised, as soon as the issue was corrected, United Steel Products was paid in full.

I would **so note that United Steel Products has behaved in an extremely unprofession** manner. The business ignored repeated requests to correct the problem. It ignored repeated telephone c**ls. It ignored certified letters with requested return receipts. And when it came time to resolve the issue, once and for **l, it behaved in the most passive aggressive manner possible, waiting for the very last moment (late Friday, very late in the afternoon, at the very end of the promised time frame) to address the issue.

In summary, United Steel Products exhibited just awful, deplorable behavior and business practice. The behavior and business practice of this business made absolutely no sense. Awful, just awful.

Sincerely,
