Units Storage - Siler City is in a business that rents portable storage in a similar fashion of Pods and others in the market. All of these vendors, having a large presence in the internet market advertise prices which are accurate to the extend that they can control.I desired to rent for 12 months 2 units. Searched for locations and prices and found that their posted price was: Copied and Pasted from their site:On Site Storage12 Foot UNIT Rent $70.0016 Foot UNIT Rent $75.00Note: Transportation Fees and Sales Tax Not IncludedI asked for a quote for detailing of other costs like transportation, etc, etc assuming the monthly would be around the advertised price. The estimate came out to more than 2.3 times the for unit rent. 159 per month to be exact. I called the storage place and tried to describe what seems reasonable and was told that these prices are not accurate. I also emailed the franchise and was not given any resolution except - talk to the location.Desired SettlementWould like the price stated to be honored within a reasonable proximity or at the very least the company to be honest about their practice is posting correct prices to consumers.Business Response COMPLAINT ACTIVITY REPORT Case #XXXXXXXXI am the owner of the Franchise Territories: Winston Salem, Greensboro, Lexington, Durham and Raleigh of North Carolina for the last 7 1/2 years. We dedicate ourselves on 100% customer satisfaction and do not take complaints lightly. We are located in Siler City. Other Franchisee owners of North Carolina are: Hickory (located in Hickory), owns Hickory, Statesville and services Asheville; and Charlotte owns Charlotte. If a Franchisee services areas outside their territory, this is considered a Long Distance move, and pricing for this is established at Corporate Headquarters, which is beyond the control of the Franchisee. May 9, the customer contacted Hickory for a price. Hickory emailed and left the customer a voice message. Customer did not return the phone call. This customer had entered his zip codes into the section "Get a Quote" on the website page and received a quote, which came from the Hickory location.Customer called our office in Siler City on May 30 and started off by saying he wanted to store at Siler City, not disclosing that he was located in [redacted] The customer then told the Customer Representative that he was not sure where he was moving to, possibly within [redacted] or to [redacted] or [redacted]. Saturday, May 31, customer left a message for CSR in Siler City to call him; customer had more questions (our office is closed Saturday and Sundays). CSR in Siler City called customer Monday, June 2, to get information from customer to create a quote. Tuesday, June 3, CSR in Siler City emailed a quote to customer. Customer called the office June 3 to ask about pricing on the quote. Customer was looking at website page for "Siler City" [redacted] instead of the website page for "Hickory" ([redacted]). Customer wanted CSR in Siler City to honor pricing we have for Siler City storage rentals, as again he was told pricing is determined by location. This customer's move and storage would be considered a Long Distance move for our location in Siler City to [redacted]Pricing is based on the city for rentals and transportation fees. If you view our website at www.unitsstorage.com and view the numerous website pages for the various cities, you will see that rental prices vary based on location or if customer enters the zip codes for his move, a quote will be provided to him by email.June 18, customer emailed the Vice President of Franchise Development at Corporate Headquarters. Customer references the pricing on website for On-Site storage for Siler City (not [redacted] which is a different rental price than Warehouse Storage. On-Site storage means that the storage container is left at the customer's location and never stored in our warehouse.June 19, Hickory emailed the customer again and never received a response.Comment from Customer:Customer said in the complaint report: "I called the storage place and tried to describe what seems reasonable and was told that these prices are not accurate."Answer from Franchisee of Siler City to Comment from Customer above:CSR at Siler City told the customer that the website page he was looking at was for Siler City only and the prices are accurate for Siler City only. On the website page the customer was referring to, this website page states under the picture, "UNITS(r) Moving and Portable Storage of Siler City, NC". We respectfully request you to remove this complaint from our record as our facility does not service the cities this customer is moving in.Regards,[redacted]Owner/President of UNITS Mobile Storage of Siler CityConsumer Response I do not longer desire the company to match its price for me as I do not wish to do business with this enterprise; however, I am requesting and will pursue fully through this less invasive channel (Revdex.com) that that the company advertise real and available locations and prices. I fully will pursue this through the State Attorney's Office Branch of Consumer Affairs if continued mis-representation 1. I originally sought the [redacted] location as it was more convenient. This franchise, while probably owning rights for the area does not in any way, shape or form have a viable location in the [redacted] area. When asked, the person I talked to said that they do not know when, but it will be years. [redacted]Site above is nothing but illustrative of the firm's deceptive advertising. The company does not have a location in this area and advertises as it is fully available to serve this area.Expectation: Consumers need to know that this location is not available. Marketing is deceiving. Site needs to say - "Coming Soon," "Not Yet Available"2. Siler City location needs to change to reflect what seems to be the real operational costs of renting a unit there. I see as of today, that the site has changed to reflect that this is for "local moves." That is better although as a consumer, this cost could be clarified even further in a similar fashion as others in the industry.Something to note is that I have never been as displeased with a company and its ethics. The marketing and advertising is false. The facts as stated above by the company are also mis-shaped. This is my first full pursuit of something I feel very clear about and will pursue on behalf of consumers. This company, or franchise needs to advertise what is in fact available and at the expected real cost, even if some fine print needs to be made available to the consumer.
