Review: We left an almost new double stroller fully assembled with a parent console, a riding board for a toddler, and fully stocked with kids toys, snacks, and diapers at the bottom of our front steps -- clearly differentiated from the space where the trash bins were located.

It was quite obvious to any bystander that the stroller was not trash and that it was outside in anticipation of leaving the house shortly. Moreover, the stroller is regularly stored in this location in the morning and the team has never thought to remove it before.

When I tracked down the truck a short time later, the collector (whom we see while walking with the stroller ) admitted that he and the driver debated as to whether to dispose of the item.

Under the circumstances, I have a difficult time believing that a nearly new stroller that was filled with kids toys was actually disposed of.

Finally, when I was first contacted by a supervisor ([redacted]), I was told the company would compensate or replace the item. I've since been contacted by another employee ([redacted]) who has claimed no liabilityDesired Settlement: I would like to be compensated or have the item(s) in question replaced.

Response:

July 17, 2014Dear [redacted]:I am in receipt of the letter that you submitted to [redacted] dated July 14,2014 regarding a written statement from **. [redacted]. Unity Disposal is the trash and recycling collector for the [redacted] area. The stroller was left near and/or at the curb on collection day. Our employees did throw the stroller into the truck as they thought it was trash. Our supervisor did not advise the homeowner that we would replace the stroller and items. It is the supervisor's responsibility to take the report and refer it to me, the Claims and Risk Manager. I spoke with **, [redacted] on the same day of the incident and advised her that we do not owe this claim as that the items were left unattended at the curb on collection day. We hold our service to the highest standard. We cannot be bullied into paying claims that we do not owe by the threat of posting of bad status information about our company on social media website, which she stated she was going to do and also contact Revdex.com. It is our responsibility to each resident to only pay what we owe, so that the cost of their services can remain affordable.Even though we feel we do not owe this claim, we have offered $250 as a "goodwill gesture". She has refused our offer. She is filing a claim with Small Claims and we are prepared to defend our position. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me.
