Review: Dual Coverage Reimbursement Issue:

In Aug 2015, I was referred to Unity for Health Plan by the Federal Exchange. I purchased coverage starting 9/1/2015. Later that month the University of Wisconsin offered me a position to teach including health insurance. They made the insurance effective 9/1/2015. As a result, I was dual covered on 9/1/2015 and in Sept 2015.

I called Unity Health Insurance on 9/1 and they sent me back to the UW and Exchange for a refund despite the fact they deposited my personal check for one plan AND deposited another amount from the UW System for another plan. In essence, Unity accepted payment for health coverage for my family twice. This is not fair and no business I know would accept payment twice for one service.

I managed to get the policy I signed up for via the Federal Exchange cancelled, but they did not reimburse me for the dual coverage. This is why I am submitting this complaint. This isn't a trivial amount. I paid 900+ directly to Unity and I paid another 800+ via my check through the UW.

Please consider my complaint and let me know what I can do to help. If you need more specific info, please let me know. Thank you for your time.

Take care,

Andrew JakubczakDesired Settlement: My desired outcome is to be reimbursed for the period of Sept 2015 for the Unity Health Plan I initiated via the Federal Exchange referral. Since the UW-based Unity plan was what was in place in Sept-Dec 2015, I expect a refund for the direct payment I made to the Unity.

Review: My daughter is currently recieveing services for laser treatments on her leg. I followed the protocal and called the insurance company to make sure it was a covered service. I was told by an adjuster via phone on 6-16-14 ([redacted] that is was covered 100 % no co-pay and no Pri-Authorization needed. Now I did give her all the information of the DX code and Procedure code and asked again if it was covered which she replied yes. My daughter started her treatments and we're on #2 of 6-8 to go and have been told they will not cover them even though they know as stated in an email from them "I was given incorrect information by their adjuster" They will not charge us for the 2 we have gotten so far but will not cover the rest she has left. You can't just stop these treatments after starting them and they are approx $4000.00 per treatment that we can not afford. I have contacted them and they have stated they still will not cover them even though they have stated it was there mistake.Desired Settlement: I would like them to agree in writting to pay for ALL the treatments for this procedure as we did as we were told. We contacted them as we were told and went a head with the treatments on what we where told. We are talking about a child that will have to live with the outcome of stopping these treatments and I find that this is irresponsible on their part. They should have their adjusters trained correctly so that we as consumers are not misguided on what we can and can not do. I would have never put my daughter through this painful procedure if it was not covered and I certainly can't stop the treatments now that we have started them because She will have a much bigger issue now if we quit them.
