Unity Moving & Storage, Inc. Reviews (3)

This was the most experience people I have dealt with. They were hard working and very good handling my furniture and belongings. The cost was a little more than what I wanted to spend but it was worth it with the people that moved me.

Services promised were not delivered, all items were not moved, the cost was excessive and furniture was broken and not repaired. As I relayed to you on Wednesday, October 1st during our first phone call, a number of unfortunate decisions were made and actions performed by your company, Unity Moving and Storage, Inc., which led to broken promises and furniture. In brief, these included, but were not limited to:1) repeatedly promising a higher quality and a higher price tag compared with other companies;2) bringing contractual paperwork to my house for another person's move (that transpired the day before), and asking me to sign them to represent our contract;3) arriving with a 16 ft truck that was clearly and obviously too small given the number of items discussed (e.g. a 14 ft kayak, a second kayak, a bike);4) asking me to guess the number of boxes prior to the move rather than having me count them, leading to a lower estimate Your organization contends that my boxes exceeded 50. I was asked to guess at the number of boxes and I guessed 50. Both [redacted] and [redacted] reviewed the house full of items and made a decision to use the small truck;5) deciding to use the small truck even after reviewing the items to move;6) using no bubble wrap on any furniture or other items;7) using no mattress wrapping;8) spending a great deal of time arranging and rearranging the truck to attempt to add more items;9) leaving many items at the point of origin that were supposed to be moved (two large SUV's full, including one of a set of six dining room chairs, two very large and heavy ceramic pots, a 14 ft kayak, a second kayak, a bike, a large garment bag and miscellaneous other items); 10) breaking the back of another chair belonging to the set of six dining room chairs; and,11) not delivering the rolling castors to one large art table that were in the cab of the truck. [redacted] and I have voice-messaged back and forth and he has promised to return them to me.For comparison's sake, the owner of the home at the point-of-origin ([redacted]) recently had [redacted] move her belongings which were a similar amount for approximately $350.00 and no breakage. Also, her move involved two stops. Three months prior to this move I contracted with [redacted] to move about 1.5 times as much for a cost of just over $900 and the breakage of one table leg. To their credit, they wrapped the mattress in a protective cover as well as using bubble wrap around the majority of the wood furniture. Further, they had adequate staff and an appropriately-sized truck. Based on these recent similar moves, I was expecting to pay between $400 and $600. As you know, I was charged (and paid) $1130 for this move.I was satisfied with our original resolution wherein you agreed to refund $560 and to pay for the repair of the broken chair. Your second call and offer later on Wednesday, October 1st was less satisfactory wherein you promised to write me a refund check that afternoon in the amount of $200 and to send along a claim for the broken chair. I did receive the claim form that, if completed, theoretically would reimburse me $6.00 for the broken chair back (broken on both sides of the wooden oval) which is unsatisfactory. I have not received the promised check for $200 yet.I believe we can resolve this by both parties meeting in the middle. That is, an ideal resolution from my perspective would be to split the difference in cost. Had you moved all of my items a fair amount would be $800 taking into account an extra stop to pick up several additional items. Also taking into account the fact that I had to make two additional trips to complete the move, which included finding help to move the heavy items and a large SUV, I believe paying you $700 total for the move is more than fair. I am asking, therefore, for a refund in the amount of $430 ($1130 minus $700) and I would also ask that you pay for the repair of my chair. Business Response Unity Moving and Storage, Inc. reached out to customer immediately and resolved customers case. We settled in the amount of $18.00 for the chair based on the valuation she signed for on moving day and offered a hourly adjustment of $344.50 as an act of good will.As customer quoted "both parties have met in the middle" for an ideal resolution of her concerns.
