Only authorized dealers, operating out of brick and mortar stores, are allowed to sell Universal Furniture.  We have never sold furniture at a flea market, off the back of a truck, or on the side of the road.  That does not mean that an individual has not purchased Universal product and...

re-sold it at a flea market.  [redacted] is not affiliated with Universal Furniture in any way.  He is not a sales rep, manager, or any other kind of Universal Furniture employee.  I am truly sorry for the experience the consumer had.  We do have authorized dealers in Roseville.  Please go to www.universalfurniture.com and you can search for dealers in your area.  You can search in a 25, 50, 75 or 100 mile radius from your location.

Review: My intentions was to purchase furniture with this company, with their layaway plan. I gave a cash deposit of $590.00 which left me a balance of 200.00 on 07/**/2014 I gave them a deposit of $390.00 and then another deposit on 08/**/2014 for $200.00 a total of $590.00 cash, which left me with a balance of $200.00 the cost of the merchandise was 790.00. On 10/**/2014 I stopped by to pay my balance and was told that the company and previous [redacted] was no longer in business, leaving me without my furniture and no refund of my money.Desired Settlement: I will appreciate it if I can be refunded my money back or the furniture of equal value.

Review: My boyfriend and I put a deposit down on a couch. The owner guaranteed us that the deposit was refundable but are now refusing to refund it.

My boyfriend and I put a deposit of $400 down on a couch at Universal Furniture on 6/22/2013. We were not sure we wanted to go ahead with the purchase so the owner/salesman told us that the only way he could guarantee the sale price was if we put down a refundable deposit. The owner/salesman repeatedly guaranteed us that our deposit was refundable if we changed our minds for any reason. Before I paid the deposit the owner/salesman went over the receipt with me. He went over the terms and again told us that if we decided to cancel that we could and could get a refund. He had me sign the receipt/contract, then took my $100 cash and my visa card along with the signed contract and ran my card. After he ran my card he came back with the visa receipt for me to sign. I signed the receipt the owner/salesman gave me my copy of the visa receipt and the contract for the couch and we left the store with the receipt folded up in my wallet. We went to the furniture store on Saturday 8/31/2013 to cancel our purchase and to get a refund. The salesman that was there told me that there were no cancelations and to see my receipt. There is small print on the receipt that states no cancelations but I was never told that or given a chance to look close enough at it to read it until after signing it. Desired Settlement: I want a full refund like I was guaranteed.

Review: 08*23*14 - talk to [redacted], Universal Furniture Sales manager at Flea Market/Farmers Market in Roseville bought Queen bed, nightstand dresser/mirror (set) & made $500.00 VISA down payment. 08-28-14 - [redacted] 916-521-7734 don't know if she is the owner text us saying delivering date is 08-29-14 between 1:00-4:30PM. We text back & confirmed. 08-29-14- waited for delivery from 1:00-4:30P.M. heard nothing. Called [redacted], told us driver forgot his cell phone, can't contact him. We text back & forth. [redacted] the driver by himself the sales manager talked to whom we bought furniture arrived at our house at 8:00 P.M. with very few boxes to deliver & in a hurry to leave. We noticed right away there are furniture missing so we ask him to assemble - he refused stating not written in the contract but when we are buying he promised to do it. We void contract. I initialed it & [redacted] initialed it then put all boxes in his truck. His white copy is altered - he added or wrote something not in my duplicate copy. We let him come to the house even if it is late because [redacted] begs us to wait. I called [redacted] about cancellation, she begs us not to then wants me to talk to her angry husband saying "DO you know who you are talking to". Finally [redacted] agreed for cancellation of contract at past 8:00 P.M.Desired Settlement: I called her so many times about $500.00 re-imbursement - no response. Text her too, no response as well. Everything is documented on my cell phone about date + time of transactions.Your help is highly appreciated as my husband & I are new to the area just moved here from Virginia Beach, VA. Thank you for your help to this matter.

1. If [redacted] is not affiliated with Universal Furniture – how come he has a business card showing he is the sales manager of Universal Furniture. The location of the store is not at a back of a truck or on the street but inside the compound of Denio’s Farmers Market in Roseville, big furniture store (brick & mortar store) with all kinds of furnitures – living room dining room – bedroom sets, mattresses coffee/end tables, lighting etc.

2. [redacted] ###-###-#### if she doesn’t know [redacted] how come she is the one calling us for delivery - admitting [redacted] as his driver? [redacted] did not schedule delivery but [redacted].

Don’t worry my driver is on his way he forgot to take his phone with him. Please wait for him there’s a lot of traffic today.

3. Aug. 29 – 4:54 P.M.

I would appreciate if u text me as soon as he gets to your house.

4. I am very sorry he left few hours ago there is no way I could get in touch with him since he forgot his phone.

Any news from my driver?

I just talked to my driver, he is dropping a furniture at one of the customer and then head to your place. Thank u for waiting.

Back & forth we talk – expressing my frustration of waiting since she notified us that delivery is 1:00-4:30P.M. [redacted] arrived almost 8 P.M. with very few boxes. He agreed to VOID contract, he initiated my copy & I initiated too, put all boxes back in the truck, he is alone. I called [redacted] about contract cancellation. She asked me to talk to her angry husband saying “ Do you know you are talking to”

Aug. 30 – I called [redacted] asking for refund as no furniture in my possession. Besides [redacted] agreed to VOID contract.

Aug. 30 – 2:20P.M. (text) [redacted]’s response:

Please do whatever u want to do.

I tried everything to resolve this matter – I notified my VISA credit card provider – they said $500.00 is paid to Universal Furniture already – they sent dispute letter to Universal Furniture already – they sent dispute letter to Universal Furniture – I notified you Revdex.com – I sent certified letter to Universal Furniture Manager no response. I am a Filipina but American citizen, highly educated. Just moved here in Sacramento from Virginia. My first transaction is going to Universal Furniture to buy bedroom sets – what a nightmare! Please advise me what to do, I am willing & ready to go to court if necessary. This company needs to be investigated as how they do business to help the public for future problems. I did not cancel contract just because I changed my mind but it was cancelled due to missing furniture.
