Universal Hub Furniture

Review: This is to inform you of a horrendous practice performed by Universal Hub Furniture in detriment of my person, family and the celebration of my family Thanksgiving dinner.

On November **, 2014, I went to Universal Hub Furniture store and order dining room set (1-table, 6-side chairs and 2-armed chairs) for $2,445.00 dollars under the condition that the set must be delivered on/or before 11/**/14. I expressed to [redacted], store manager, that I had guests for Thanksgiving and that it was a "must have" before the holiday. At the time [redacted] was courteous and seemed trustworthy.

On [redacted], 11/**/14-around [redacted], the expected delivery day/time, we contacted the store to alert [redacted] that the delivery hadn't happened. He stated that it would be done soon that day. I waited but, unfortunately, the set wasn't delivered. The next day (11/**), when I called, [redacted] stated that the "set" would be delivered that day and that the reason for the delay was that the merchandise was coming from [redacted] ([redacted] was the name of the manufacturing company). When I asked for status or estimated arrival time, [redacted] stated that he would call back. He never did.

On Thanksgiving, my family and I, had to improvise because [redacted] failed to deliver the merchandise.

The day after, I called again. [redacted] came up with the same story and he stated that it wasn't under his control if "[redacted]" didn't deliver on time. To this and considering that main purpose of the purchase was to celebrate Thanksgiving, I stated that it defeated the purpose of waiting and express that it wasn't of not use to keep going with the transaction. [redacted] expressed that if I didn't want to wait, I could get another item from the store. I rejected the offer because I felt he was mocking me and pushing me to get something I didn't like.

In the meantime, this transaction was financed through [redacted], formerly [redacted], a credit/financial institution based in [redacted], [redacted], which accepted the credit, sent me a statement with a balance of $2,445. Because of the series of events that transpired between me and [redacted], I notified [redacted] that I didn't received the merchandise and that I protested the charges. They promised to investigate. After several calls and correspondence, [redacted] wrote to me stating that I was liable for a 20% re-stocking charge or $489 as requested by [redacted], the store manager. This because, as stated by him, the merchandise came from "Italy" (which he never said--- he said [redacted]). Obviously I rejected the charges.

I appeal to your department for assistance. Universal Hub Furniture and [redacted], its manager, should not be allowed to promise delivery of goods, break the promise through lies and get paid. "Money doesn't grow--I need to work for it".

Please take all necessary actions to correct this situation and prevent Universal Hub Furniture from doing this to another citizen.Desired Settlement: I don't owe this money and therefore request that the 20% or $489 charge be removed from my credit account. Universal Hub Furniture and [redacted], must write to me apologizing for their behavior. [redacted] also must write to me stating that the case is closed and that I do not owe a single penny to their company.

I believe that the desired outcome is fair after all the changes I was suggested to by [redacted] and Universal Hub Furniture.
