Universal Palms Reviews (1)

One of the clerks at the front desk checked me and my sister-in-law in and stated that the $250 security deposit was waived because my sister-in-law had an out-of-state ID. (The hotel only charges Broward County Residents the $250 security deposit). We checked in for 11 nights at $700 which they required to be paid in full up front. We paid, then the next afternoon while we were at work my sister in law received a call from a different clerk who stated "You owe us a $250 security deposit and we want it now or your things will be in the lobby" when she called me I told her to tell them to just adjust our reservation to less days and take the $250 out of the remaining balance that we would have and at the end of the reservation we will either make a new reservation or go to a different hotel. They told her no. I then called and Maritza answered the phone and stated "you can't stay here" since her dispostion was so disrespectful I asked to speak with her boss. I asked him to do the same thing reduce our days and take the $250 out of our balance he stated he did not want to do that but we can come give the hotel $250 cash for the security deposit and they would return $250 off of our credit card which would take 3-14 days to receive. I also had the do not disturb on the door and requested housekeeping do not enter the room in which the General Manager stated that housekeeping said that it appears that more than 2 adults are staying in the room when it is not we are moving and waiting for our new house to be ready but that was none of their business. My question is why would you contact the customer in that manner for a mistake that your employee made. The security deposit is not advertised in fees on hotels.com either. They are very bad business, disrespectful and unprofessional.Product_Or_Service: Hotel RoomDesired SettlementI would like to speak with the highest in charge who is over the General Manager. They need to know how their business is being run and how the clientele is being treated. After spending $900 at this establishment I do not believe that I should be disrespected or treated unprofessionally. Costs and policies need to be accessible to consumers.
