Review: We were finalizing the paperwork necessary to move into our first apartment and decided that we should start shopping around for the furniture in our current neighborhood. We went inside this store and were greeted by [redacted] (whom we now understand also goes by the name [redacted]), the owner. After having discussed our preferences he offered us a deal on our future bed set, living room set, and dining room set plus the delivery, installation and setup. He guaranteed the quality of the furniture and assured us that all items he sold were covered under a 1 year warranty. All the furniture was real leather and real wood and should therefore last us for years to come. On May 11, 2013 we went back to Universal Plaza 1, LLC. located at 226-B New Brunswick Ave., Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. We had decided that because of the offer that was previously made to us, we would make our furniture purchase with them. After many calls and complaints regarding the delivery day and time, the delivery was made on Friday May 17, 2013 at approximately 7:30 pm. We were very upset because our son's birthday guests were walking in while they were still finishing up.However, we tried to look at the positive side of things and felt happy that at least we had furniture to sit, eat and sleep on. A few days later we had one of the stools break down. We immediately called [redacted] to inform him of the problem. He instructed us to come into the shop and show him. I brought in the broken piece and his response was " all you need to do is screw it in again. Can't your husband screw something in?" By the end of that week the next stool broke, then the other. The bed set has also come apart because of a missing piece. Four months later and not only are we responsible for the furniture that came apart within the first 3 weeks. But he wont even apologize or fix anything. He wont show his face and because this is not his "first rodeo" and he refuses to solve this problem. After all we only spent nearly $4,000 and its "only furniture."Desired Settlement: I would like all of the furniture that is breaking apart due to quality or installation to be replaced so that we can have somewhere to eat and sleep on come Thanksgiving and Christmas. A brand new family in America should not have to experience this type of abuse.
