Universal Restoration Service Reviews (2)

Shortly after our house caught fire I read stories of other people who had also experienced this many of them said that the fire itself, assuming there was no serious injury or loss of life, wasn't the most stressful part of the ordeal and this unfortunately has been the case for usOur house caught fire on April 4th, A gentleman showed up within minutes and said he lived in our neighborhoodHe just so happened to work for Universal Restoration and gave us information about their services We were told we should be back in our house in about three months, however as the date of this review, December 17, 2014, we are still in a motelOriginally they said the county was always slow issuing building permits, but we later found out ours was issued on April 27, just days after the fireThere were and continue to be multiple delays which are blamed on everything or everyone but Universal RestorationIt appeared that they thought we were either being dishonest or crazyThey even continued this stance after sending them photos that proved we were the ones being lied toWe kept all documentation and text and recorded phone calls showing a pattern misleading information from themThey refuse to have someone in the upper level management contact us to resolve thisThey also placed our furniture, clothing, and other items in storage after cleaning them, however four months into this the charge for that service was over $27,which is probably twice what it's worthThey also left other items there that were thrown away or stolen by people they employ such as my laptop computer which wasn't hidden but left on the floor in plain view and have so far refused to respond toWork finally started happening to finish repairs so we could move back in to weeks ago after advising them we were talking to our attorney and they said we will back in the house in about a weekWe already have three other promises in writing that didn't come to passI am years old and have multiple sclerosis and my mother is We also have custody of a year oldThis ordeal continues to bring an enormous amount of stress to our familyWe need to be back in our house before Christmas and it is completely unacceptable that we are EIGHT months into thisYet they feel THEY are due more money so as all can see this isn't overI will add or complete this review with a formal complaint soon

On April 4th, 2014 our home caught fire. A representative of Universal Restoration showed up before the fire department did claiming he lived in our neighborhood. This was later found not to be true, and as time went by and problems with their service started to come forth the once nice concerned neighbor refused to return calls. We were originally told that the delay in repairs was due to the county dragging their feet with the building permits. We called the county roughly three months into this nightmare to discover the permit was issued on April 27, 2014, two weeks after the fire. After much frustration, aggravation, and NINE months of lies which have been documented in writing, text, email, photos, and recorded phone conversations we might finally be allowed to get into our house two days before Christmas. This company kept dragging their feet after proof of their dishonesty was given them as if they didn't care. They, after causing much distress will want more money although given the circumstances, if anyone is due more money it should be us. I can back everything I've claimed with at least three promises to be in our home dates, multiple photos, and numerous false claims all in writing, text, e-mail, photos, and recorded phone calls. Then theres the outrageous amount charged for storage of furniture and cleaning thereof, keeping in mind this stuff at best might be worth $15,000 if that, was as of four months into it had already rang up over $27,000. Its not over yet so more review to come probably with a formal complaint and if they demand more money, a law suit is to follow.
