The dental practice seems to be fine. Billing is where I have an issue. When a sizable chunk of one of my visits wasn't paid by insurance I got a bill...not their fault or mine, just one of those things. I called and told them I would pay as much as I could each month, and I have done that despite monthly interest charges of $50-60 on a $600 balance. This week I saw that on payday I would be able to pay my balance in full, so I sent the invoice back clearly stating that if they can wait until the 17th, one week away, they could debit my card for the full amount due, I was glad I could finally make it right. Well, two days later I find that they have not waited but have instead cleaned out my bank account leaving me with nothing to live on for the next five days. Needless to say I won't be utilizing their services any more,","neg-1

Clinically I have no complaints. The dental hygienist, dentist, and periodontist I have seen have been fine and I am not concerned with the quality of care. They were professional, knowledgeable, and clearly invested in my dental health.
With that said, their business office is completely disorganized. They lose payments, mix up files, bill for visits over a year in the past, and absolutely refuse to return calls when trying to straighten it out.
As happy as I was with their care, I cannot continue to allow them to impact my finances and my blood pressure. I am in the process of changing providers.","neg-2

Complaint"Office Manager" [redacted] cancelled my wife and I's dental appointment for February 28th, 2014 without notification."Office Manager" [redacted] cancelled my wife and I's dental appointment for February 28th, 2014 without notification. Said appontment was cancelled because of unpaid debt. 2 problems. first, I was never informed of debt, as they were to refile with insurance, never heard of any issues so they could be dealt with, this was in SEPTEMBER 2012!! Was never informed. The way I find out is to have an appointment I made on January 6th of 2014 cancelled without my knowledege for this reason, was not informed of the debt then.Desired SettlementWe need to figure out something about the debt and other than that I don't know. Have no desire to do business with a company that handles themselves in the manner that University dental does. There are planty of other dentists. I have already removed my daughter from their practice for a "needed" surgery that after visiting a pediatric dentist was deemed to be unnessessary.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@wakehealth.eduFrom the UDA Practice Manager, [redacted] This was so long ago but it is standard to remove appts when there is bad debt not paid. Obviously we don't want additional bad debt to occur plus they had not been here so long we assumed they had moved or had no intention on returning. Mr [redacted] should have been notified by the collection agency at least even if he was not getting our statements and letters. We have not seen the family since 2012. The below note was entered into the account in november 2012 and Mrs [redacted] was notified that [redacted] did not have the daughter covered under the plan and Mr/Mrs [redacted] took no further action to remedy the situation. My assumption was they were simply not going to pay the balance due.

Not sure who will see this but I recently got my theeth cleaned here at UDA on Jones Franklin Rd and the girl, [redacted], that cleaned my teeth was the most ignorant person I have ever heard. Talking about another girl in the office to another a male assistant. I'm sitting here in the chair and she bad mouthing this woman thats works with one of the other doctors. Hate to say it but I think she was bad mouthing her because she was white. Don't think I'm coming back here again. Shame people have to act like that.","neg-3

Billed for a missed appointment even though I called to cancel.I called to cancel an appointment more than 24 hours before my scheduled appointment due to a family funeral. I called during regular business hours and had to leave a voicemail. No one returned my call. When I tried to reschedule the appointment, I was told I was inappropriately charged $50 for the missed appointment. They had previously collected $90 to prepay for services and took the fee from this amount. I contacted [redacted] in the office about getting a refund since the missed appointment was their fault as I had given them ample notice. She said she would take it up with the office manager. I did not receive a response for a week. I called again and [redacted] said the office manager did not respond to her. Finally, later that day she received a response that the office manager would not refund the money. I was unable to reschedule due to this. [redacted] gave me the number to the office manager at the Forest Drive office. I attempted to reach her but the receptionist stated she was not in the office but would return shortly but would not send me to her voicemail but said she would put a note on her desk. I have not received a return call from the office manager.Desired SettlementI have spoken with[redacted] and she is in the process of refunding me the $40 of the original $90 I have paid. I would like the additional $50 refunded as the missed appointment fee should not be charged as I called to cancel.Business Response Our office will refund him for the no-show charge. However, the UDA office did indicate that he did not give a 24 hour notice prior to the missed appointment (which is UDA's policy). Consumer Response I have not received the refund as promised in their reponse to the complaint.Business Response It is in process - it takes a 3-4 weeks to get the checks issued.
