University Motors of Harrisonburg, L.L.C. Reviews (2)

My son and I bought two vehicles from this dealership and they were both lemon cars. Eventhough the owner stated " I would not sell you a car if I didn't think the car was in good shape". I had both vehicles fully inspected and their were problems from used tires/plug to engine leaking oil...etc. When I call about the truck leaking oil..I'm told it is not under warranty??? really. Don't buy any vehicles from this place...tell everyone.

Review: I purchased a vehicle from this dealership just four months ago. At the time of the purchase, I noticed the cruise control on the vehicle was not functioning correctly, which I discussed with the owner of the business (Mr. Kiser). He declined to repair the problem and also did not reduce the price of the vehicle. While driving the vehicle home, I heard it making unusual noises. I took it to a repair shop and was told the serpentine belt was badly worn and in need of replacement. I had the belt repaired at a cost of about $80. After the repair, the vehicle continued to make noises so I returned it to the repair shop and was then told that it needs an additional $600 in repairs. I wrote a letter to Mr. Kiser by certified mail wherein I explained the situation and asked that he pay for the repairs since they were present at the time of the sale. The only response I received from him was a text message wherein he asked me how many miles are on the vehicle. I responded and have not heard back from him.Desired Settlement: I would like the business to pay for the needed repairs because they were present at the time of the sale. The business is in [redacted] and I live in [redacted] so the repairs will need to be done in [redacted] as I cannot afford to take time off from work and pay for gas to travel to [redacted].

Response:

Customer did in fact, on 10-9-15, purchase a 2005 Hyundai from our dealership. At the time of sale, weinformed the customer before she purchased the vehicle that the cruise control did not work, and thatwas the condition in which the vehicle was being sold. Now she would like to have it fixed. We gavethe customer a thirty day or one thousand mile limited warranty on the vehicle. Attached you will find acopy of the buyer's guide which clearly states our warranty terms which were explained to the customerat the time of sale. She signed and dated this form on 10-9-15. Attached you will also find a copy of ouestandard used car warranty which is thirty days or one thousand miles, whichever comes first. This wasalso explained to the customer and signed. As is customary in the used car industry, she had an option to purchase an extended warranty which shedeclined. If she heard the vehicle making unusual noises "almost immediately" why did she wait untilJanuary to address the issue? At no time within the thirty days or one thousand miles did she contact ourdealership about any warranty issues.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The response is not an offer to resolve my complaint. It is an attempt by the business to absolve themselves from responsibility for selling a defective vehicle. The businesses statement that I was informed the cruise control did not work is an outright lie. In fact, I discovered that it did not work and informed them. They never disclosed that to me. The businesses response also demands an explanation as to why I did not attend to this issue within a certain timeframe. That is irrelevant because the fact of the matter is that I only purchased this vehicle a short time ago and it needs repairs. Therefore any ethical business owner would correct the problem. I have purchased many vehicles in the past and only had a similar situation once. In that case the business took care of the problem without hesitation. If this problem cannot be resolved with the assistance of Revdex.com, I will pursue other means of resolving it.
