Complaint:
I am rejecting this response because:
Owner is ignoring and avoiding several issues- Move took place in March, owner repeatedly ignored my attempts to contact him and is only responding months later because I finally filed several complainsUnprofessional behaviour- Insurance payment has not been sent, months after the move- The move was sloppy and unprofessionalThe movers forgot to call me during the move to make sure that everything had been taken and that nothing was left behindIt is the company's professional obligation to make sure that all the belongings have been taken, packed properly, and that nothing is misplaced or lost- Mover mentions a "small bookshelf"In fact, movers left behind a large bookcase, several expensive large tools and various items in the garageI had to replace lost items at my expense, on top of their $billThey also lost several parts of the metal frame for my bed, which I had to replace at my expense.
- They permanently damaged a $sculpture, which I told them needed extra attention, by not bothering to pack it properlyMy patio set was badly scratched because they did not wrap things up properly- The insurance I chose is irrelevant and does not absolve the company from acting professionally and taking proper care of belongings they are entrusted with movingI have moved countless times all over the States, and never had such an unprofessional experience before.

I offered MrR*** the insurance that he had signed for before the moveMrR*** insisted that it wasn't sufficient, so I offered a substantial amount more than the claim would pay out, however it just agitated
MrR*** to the point of him threatening me with social media (which he followed through with)MrR*** then sent me a quote of something in the range of $to fix damages from an upholsterer, however the insurance that MrR*** signed for is what I am required to compensateThe situation is a little complicated due to the aggressive manner of MrR***I would be happy to send an adjuster out, but, it has already been stated by MrR*** that what I am offering is insufficientI have exhausted all options with MrR***I originally offered for MrR*** to go through insurance (explained what they would offer him for the damage), and he declined, I then offered more then the insurance would offer him, and he said no, then he went back on saying he wanted to go through insuranceWe called our insurance, discussed damage and options with our representative, and we were told that the damage was so minute, that the insure would not cover such small damageI'm contacting my insurance again to try and get some resolve for the situation*** ***

Review: University Movers, LLC moved my belongings from Santa Barbara to Santa Rosa at a cost of $2600. They did the move in 2 parts (ran out of room in their truck the first move, dated 02/10/2015 and had to deliver a second shipment weeks later). The first move was fine, the second one was not. They damaged some expensive art work / a $5000 wall sculpture, forgot or lost several items, left behind and did not take all the items that they were supposed to pick up and deliver. I tried contacting the company but the owner has basically disappeared and refuses to deal with this issue, including paying me the most basic insurance compensation (included in the move). Besides several emails, I sent the owner a certified letter and pictures of the damage. No response so far, therefore I have to write several complaints to get this matter dealt with. I will file a complaint with the FMCSA and the AMSA if need be.Desired Settlement: I asked the owner for a $500 compensation for the damaged and lost items (One $5000 sculpture damaged/not repairable, one missing bookcase valued at $150, one metal bed frame/missing parts, replaced at a cost of $50, having to drive all the way to Santa Barbara from the Bay Area to retrieve forgotten/missing items that I could drive back in my car.

Response:

As stated by the Business. I have reviewed the complaint thoroughly. The customer opted for the standard moving insurance. The standard insurance we provide covers.60 cents per pound. Which I explained to the Customer. She declined that and demanded she be compensated more. The item in question weighed approximately 70 lbs. I'm more than happy to process that claim. Unfortunately will not pay for the small shelf that was left behind. The crew mention no knowledge of that piece being shipped. If you have any further questions.
