regarding the hold and balance was communicated to the complainant that it was from many years ago and for $20. In the 1980's accounting and record keeping systems were different than they are today. That being said, when the university upgraded to computers, any student records that hold a financial hold, a hold was placed with a default amount of $999. If contacted about a hold,  the paper record was located to determine the correct amount due. In this case it was $20.00. Because of the age and balance, the complainant was informed the university would forgive the $20 balance and remove the hold immediately.  This was the first inquiry from the complainant since 1989 therefore no collection and no bills were ever sent for $999.00.This issue was resolved the same day the complainant called in.
