University of the Rockies, LLC Reviews (3)

September 27, 2017   Dear [redacted], Thank you for the opportunity to respond to [redacted]’s complaint. In her complaint which I received on September 21, 2017, [redacted] stated:   The University of the Rockies is continuing to abuse student's finances (please lookup the lawsuit from...

2016 where they had to pay out millions of dollars to students who they ripped off). Furthermore, some of my work was graded either 1. before turning it in or 2. without being read at all. Once I became pretty sure that my professor was simply giving me an A and not reviewing my assignments at all, I tested my theory. I turned in a paper one week, and received an A. Two weeks later, a similar assigment was due, so I changed two words from the original paper that I was given an A for, and submitted it for the other assignment. I received an A. I also simply did not turn in some of my work after this and continued to receive an A. [redacted] proposed the following resolution: I would like for the University of the Rockies to waive the "balance" they feel I owe them since terminating my relationship with their program, of $1,210.00. If possible, they should also refund all of my government funding that they received during my time there. Absent any additional details, I am unable to meaningfully respond to [redacted]’s allegation that the University of the Rockies is “continuing to abuse student’s finances.” Similarly, without any additional details regarding specific assignments, I am unable to meaningfully respond to [redacted]’s allegation that “some” of her work was graded either “before turning it in” or “without being read at all.” I understand from [redacted]’s complaint that, while skeptical of her instructor’s diligence, [redacted] opted not to submit an Instructor Issue form that would have voiced her concerns to University administrators and instead chose to test the instructor’s vigilance by resubmitting a previous assignment with only minor modifications. I encourage [redacted] to engage the University’s established procedures by submitting a Grade Appeal if she has concerns about the grade she received in this course. In the meantime, the University is conducting a review to determine whether the grade [redacted] received in this course is appropriate. Finally, I am not aware of any specific assignments that [redacted] “did not turn in.” With regard to [redacted]’s account balance, [redacted]’s withdrawal from the University triggered a mandatory Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) calculation. This calculation determined that [redacted] had not earned all of her Federal Student Aid prior to her withdrawal and therefore, per the Federal regulations that govern the Federal Student Aid Program (FSAP), the University was required to refund $6,059 to the FSAP. This refund, combined with the fact that [redacted] withdrew from two academic courses after incurring financial liability, created the current balance on [redacted]’s account. The University met its obligations to [redacted] and I am not aware of any basis upon which to grant her resolution request. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance. Best regards, [redacted]

Ms. [redacted], Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Mr. [redacted] complaint. I can confirm that the University cancelled Mr. [redacted] financial aid prior to any funds being disbursed. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance. Best regards,Dan H[redacted]Corporate Attorney
