Review: I hired [redacted] of University Painters to paint the interior of my home. The painting job was started on June 30 and was completed on July 3. Mr. [redacted] informed during his estimate that he was insured for any damage that may occur at my home. During the painting job, the family room vertical blind over my sliding glass door was damaged and needed to be replaced. The foreman on the job was notified on July 1 of the damage that was done to the blind. He stated was aware and that it would be taken care of. I contacted Mr. [redacted] via of e-mail and telephone calls and informed him of the damage done and that the vertical blind over the sliding glass door needed to be replaced. At no time, did he come out to see the damage that was done or if I was satisfied with the job. I got an estimate to have the vertical blind in my family room over the sliding glass door replaced which is $439.61 and sent the payment to Mr. [redacted] minus the cost of the replacement vertical blind to him with a copy of the invoice from budget blinds. Mr. [redacted] did not contact me to discuss how he was going to take care of the damaged blind until he received my payment for the job minus the amount to have the blind replaced. He has now sent me a certified letter stating if I do not pay him the $439.61 dollars that it is costing me to replace the damaged blind in my home that was caused by his workers he will turn the matter over to a collections agency. At no time, during the painting job, did Mr. [redacted] stop by my home to check the status of the job or to inquire about the damage that was done to my home after I had notified him via of telephone calls and e-mails. He informed me his insurance deductible was $500 and why did I need to have a custom made blind replaced in my home. I informed him it was a custom made blind that was damaged by his painting crew and that was what I was going to put back into my home.Desired Settlement: The vendor will accept the payment that has already been mailed to him and will not bill me for the replacement cost $439.61 of the vertical blind for the sliding glass door in my family room.
