Review: My daughter (UNFORTUNATLEY) resides in the [redacted] complex run by the University Student Housing (USH) in [redacted] she attends [redacted] University. My husband lost his full time job in Sept 2012 due to NO FAULT of his own so we could not pay the semester's rent until student loan came in in early Feb......BUT..... in mid-Jan I was prepared to use a credit card to pay the Jan rent only and I went on line to do it and apparently they have a strange website and the payment was never processed....unbeknownst to me, until I got a nasty email from them. I then contacted them and told them I paid Jan rent and they said that they didnt get it, so I checked my credit card and it indeed, was not processed. I told them I had trouble with the website (at first I attempted to make the payment over the phone but they said it can ONLY be done on line)So now they are assessing a whopping $185 late fee for this!! I can understand having a late fee but $185????? Why so [redacted] unreasonable and outrageous?? Now they are threatening me with legal action....so I called and can make weekly payments of at least $10....this may not sound like much to you but it is A LOT when you are very behind on bills due to job loss!! They emailed me these NASTY emails in ALL CAPS threatening to take legal action.like I cant read an email unless it is in caps. How UNPROFESSIONAL!!! My main issue with them is: why they could not charge a SMALLER fee??? I EXPALINED the circumstances, I called them NUMEROUS times since Jan 1, I even tried to explain how the website is so screwed up I thought it took my payment...had it taken it, I would not have this UNREASONABLE high LATE FEE I am now stuck with. It's hard enough to buy food and pay bills and now I have to give them money I do not have just to keep them rich!!!! They are heartless and need to LOSE the damn high assessed fee! I want to see their company reputation ruined as they are trying to ruin me!!!Desired Settlement: LOWER THE LATE FEE TO $50 OR LESS!!!!!
