The apartment complex has been negligent in making repairs at my apartment despite numerous requests for service. One of the issues is a fire hazard. I moved in on 8/1/14 and noticed a problem with the A/C unit. The unit makes a loud buzzing noise. I have requested this be fixed on numerous occasions, but my requests have been ignored for the most part. The unit is still making the loud buzzing noise, and is causing me to lose sleep at night. The unit sits right outside my window and keeps me up at night. Last night the buzzing persisted from 2:00am to 7:00am when I left the house (and it was still buzzing). The other issue is a light fixture in our kitchen. I reported the issue on 11/20. The day before I had tried changing the light bulb and the entire fixture moved in the ceiling and the light came on. When I released my hand the light went off. The maintenance guy came by the apartment and tightened the screws in the fixture and left. When I got home I touched the bulb and it did come on, but later went off and will not come back on. The light bulb is not blown. These issues have been ongoing for the better part of four months with no solutions in place. I do not believe the maintenance supervisor is a licensed electrical or HVAC contractor.Desired SettlementI do believe the apartment complex has been negligent in addressing the various maintenance issues. I do believe the light fixture issue does present a clear safety hazard to those living in my apartment, and it has been neglected by the maintenance staff. Additionally, the HVAC issue has affected me personally since the day I moved in. I have asked time and time again for the issue to be addressed, but as of this morning the issue is ongoing. I do not think that my roommates or myself should have to pay rent over the next like term (four months). We have consistently lived up to our end of the agreement we have with the complex, but the complex has been negligent in fixing the aforementioned issues and is, therefore, in breach of contract. Business Response HI,Initially the email address was incorrect for where to send this claim. That has been resolved. The initial work order that was placed on August 4th for the HVAC unit was addressed by maintenance on August 5th, and a was completed on 8/12 due to waiting on a specific part. A second order for maintenance was placed on October 31st and was completed that same day and was found to be working in normal working order. A final work order was addressed 11/21 and was completed the following work week since it was placed after after maintenance was not scheduled during weekend hours unless emergency indicated, which was not the case in this situation. The main complaint was that he was able to hear the HVAC unit from inside his bedroom and on each occasion the sound was the normal sound for the unit and was in normal working condition. We followed up with Mr. [redacted] in regards to the work orders each time and kept him informed of any delays. The maintenance supervisor completed the work order in reference to the light fixture and no other issues were brought to our attention.The other roommates have not come to us with any issues within the apartment and have been contacted in regards to if they had issues with above listed complaints and stated they had no knowledge of any of the above issues.Consumer Response The issue was fixed shortly after the complaint was filed. No further action is necessary.
