Review: Maintenance and office are refusing to complete services at some of the residence ,send electricians for electrical issues and contact when required.

Beginning 3 months ago, myself and my roommate began contacting the staff in regards to electrical surges and speratic power outages in our specific apartment unit. The first time we called, they sent maintenance an hour later, who claimed we had too much plugged into the outlets, but upon a tour retracted that statement. They then said we use too much electricity, we showed our $14 per month bill in comparison to the neighbors' $60+ per month bills, and they again retracted their statements. They proceeded to flip the breakers in and outside of the apartment. This; however, did not work. We continued to call for 2 more weeks with outages and problems with our electricity (which by contract is an emergency situation and must be handled by maintenance and managers immediately). Maintenance began to not show up to look over the issues. They finally stated that they would replace the breaker; however, they never did. This is going on the third month where we have contacted the office staff, maintenance, AND the managers at this complex. The staff has neglected to even contact myself and my roommate in response to our situation. Maintenance no longer shows up to do any of the services that we have placed work orders in for and need completed, and they no longer come to the apartment when we are having electrical issues. I have requested on several occasions that management send out an electrician because the issues occur when there is only one light, one alarm clock, one computer, the stove, and the oven plugged in. Management is neglecting to get in contact with me in regards to my requests, and there still has been no resolution to this issue. The power surges are increasing in severity and in occurrence.

In not receiving any response, having maintenance say bluntly that they will not return to complete their job at this apartment any longer, and witnessing maintenance staff smoking illegal substances while on the job, and reporting it to have nothing be done about that either, it has come to my attention that the staff, management, and maintenance has no intention of fixing the electrical issues within this apartment. There are very few things plugged in, the electricity is rarely used, and our contracts state that electrical issues are emergency situations which will be dealt with immediately and thoroughly, but the staff is now even refusing to speak with us about the situations.

This apartment needs an electrician to come and do an inspection, it also needs a plumber for the leaking, but they are no longer taking work orders, passing along important requests, and are not completing work orders as they are required to by contract.Desired Settlement: The settlement that I am seeking is primarily to have the electrician sent out, and all of the work orders to be filled. I also request that maintenance be replaced because of their behavior, neglect, and illegal actions. Management should be reprimanded for their refusal to aid the residents who are paying for these services, especially being that they are required to aid under their contract but are not. I also would request a compensation for some of the electrical bills, because when they had been coming, and were flipping the breakers several times in a 5 minute time span, our electrical bill skyrocketed. I have lost a lot of time, been late for work, and much more because of a lack of power in my apartment, and their refusal to resolve the issues is causing added stress.

Review: I have been a resident since 2012. On 9/22/2015, I received a call that a package I was expecting was available in the office for pick up. I received my package along with an additional package. The second package puzzled me. I know I bought my schoolbooks in advance and believed I had been checking everything twice to confirm all of my books received prior to the semester commencing. In the meantime, I am a student preparing for 6 classes. This company logs and stores all of the delivered packages, which do not fit into the USPS mail boxes, inside of a locked room in the office. I received the second package; it was sent on 8/11/2015 by the shipping company and delivered on 8/13/2015 by the office. When I received the two packages on 9/22/2015, I recalled a conversation I had with my roommate: she informed me that I had a package waiting for me, this conversation occurred around 8/26/2015 -- a few short days after move-in. Upon notice from my roommate, and not a call from the office (usual practice), I went to the office. The worker, who evaluated the log, informed me that I was mistaken. Once again, on 8/26/15 I had poor customer service. The worker did not do his job by going to the storage room and visually inspecting the storage closet--instead, my package sat another month before I received it on 9/22/2015. I called the office, after recognizing the second package I received was dropped-off on 8/13/2015, and spoke to a veteran office manager on site. She gave no explanation or apologies for my financial inconveniences nor did she say she would evaluate the oversight by her employee. I am perturbed that if the first individual had gotten up from his chair on 8/26/2015 I would have not experienced this, or the expense of buying a book twice at a significantly higher price. The manager needs to meet with me to solve how she can compensate me for my troubles due to their own mistake--their own system.Desired Settlement: I would like $150 knocked off my rent for January 2016 due to my expenses caused by the triple oversight and poor customer service of the company staff and manager. Receiving a package more than 30 days is poor business.

Response:

Response:[redacted] requested a discount on her January rent, but we are unable to do that. Instead, I have ordered her a $50 VISA gift card for the inconvenience of not being notified of her package in a timely manner. The package she was referring to was a school textbook. This is a student housing property and we received hundreds of packages during that time since it was the beginning of the semester. It was an oversight on our end, however she agreed that she had been ordering many books and may of had an oversight on her end with tracking the packages she had ordered. I will be contacting [redacted] once her gift card is ready to pick up.Let me know if you need anything else from me. Thank you![redacted]General Manager

Review: I toured the complex with my cousin.

This is their pitch....

"You pay rent August 1st, move in August 26."

Yes.. Rent is paid again Sep 1st. They won't let you start paying when you move in

It's a rip off

Why pay rent for a month but not move in for 3 weeks.

If that's the deposit then say so.

They say the deposit is $150.

We were stunned by their methodDesired Settlement: The company needs to rephrase the move in policy and up front fees

Response:

Response:The ownership of University Village changed as of 3/24/2016. Under new ownership, we operate on a similar term lease platform however we do not require payment due in full one 25 days prior to move in. Please disregard this complaint as it was directed towards previous ownership.
