universitybrand Corporation Reviews (%countItem)

The absolute worst moving experience I could have asked for. I have never written a review on the internet, but was so disappointed in this move that I deemed it necessary. It started out with a person coming out to my house to do a quote. I lived in a three bedroom house with a couple living rooms to give you a gist. I was quoted two to three hours for them to pack up my house and they were going to store my things for three weeks in an estimated six pods while my new house was getting renovated. I was told they would bring a pod truck and load them into that the day of. My total quote was around $1600 on the low end and $1900 on the high end. On moving day three people show up (15 minutes late, 9:15am) with a normal large truck. When asking them why the pod truck wasn't there they told me it was double booked so they would have to load this truck then after move all my things again into pods back at the warehouse. I wasn't super comfortable with this, but let it go. We were completely packed , yet it ended up taking the guys close to 6 hours to pack up this truck. It was around 1pm when I started to ask (politely) what was going on and why it was taking so long (in different words). The one worker, after this conversation, outside my window was clearly swearing to himself and was stopping around (the other two were very polite and good with our dogs too, they just lacked any direction or leadership from anyone). The same angry worker shut the one door of the truck and pulled up the ramp around 2pm even though there was a ton of things left, forcing the other two guys to lift our things high into the truck. After all of this they were out of the house just before 3. We still had so much stuff left that we had to call someone with a third car to finish packing it all ourselves. The almost 6 hours for just the packing up of our house already met the full time for loading and unloading of our quote and it was a painful day. I called the manager *** and told him what had happened and he said he would get back to me. About a week later I had not heard from him so I called again where he agreed that it was long and he said the quote should have been much larger, but the person that had done the quote was "no longer with the company", *** and I agreed that I would just pay the top end of the quote (just under $2000). I thought this was fair even though it was a headache. On unloading moving day (3 weeks later) they showed up with the three pod truck and a small truck. While unloading it was noticed that our king size bed was missing. When asked where it was, the answer was that they couldn't bring it to us today as the forklift driver wasn't there to get it down (again there was three weeks in between the move out and move in for things to be planned out). This wasn't okay for us and were politely asked (not by me) to please go back and try to get it. When they returned they had miraculously been able to retrieve it and had found even more of our boxes that had been missed (which makes me wonder what else is missing). It took about 5 hours to unpack the trucks. About a week later we realized we were missing an expensive patio couch. When I called to ask what had happened and where the rest of my things were (last Saturday) I was told by *** that she would look into it and call me on the following Monday. Monday came, it was 3pm and had yet to receive a phone call (I was told she would be working 8-4pm) so I called her. She said she looked into it and that I was in fact missing a whole pod, that I had 5 full pods and only 4 were delivered. She asked if it could be delivered the following Saturday morning, I said sure (even though it is my day off and the pods all should have came Day one). Then comes Thursday, I receive a call from ***. He told me that *** is mistaken and that they only have my patio couch... So now I am just supposed to trust that they don't have any of our things after all this back and forth and missing of items. We have yet to fully unpack as renovations are still happening on our house so it is hard to say what I am still possibly missing of smaller items. Overall, I was not offered any apologies (let alone any type of reimbursement) for this disaster of a move. Our last move a few years ago we used a company called *** or something along those lines and they were great. They had three guys come out, pack up, drove to our new house, and unloaded within 4 hours, so I know there are good moving companies out there, but this one is not one of them. If I had known even half the issues to be had with this company, I would have not hired "professional movers" and instead had family and friends help out and rent a storage unit (likely even less costly). Moving companies are supposed to make it easier on people when moving, not increase stress tenfold. With that type of discrepancy in quotes and beyond poor customer service (from the actual movers to management), it's a wonder they are still in business.

. I have sent a message to the company but they have not replied .

They moved us from a condo to a new house back in July 2015. Mostly went ok except when we got to the house it was found that a number of items had been broken during transit including our daughter's crib. They did their standard $150 deductible dance to avoid fixing anything! But the thing that bothered me the most and apparently still does is they scratched our brand new hardwood floors! I mean if you think i'm a bit late posting this, I just walked by that spot again and remembered the move!
