Review: This bank modifies their normal business practices to cater to their preferences on different situations. They falsely charged our account fees, refused to provide the proper documentation and record of the fees. Their customer service was very unprofessional and never abided by the stated bank polices for any of the practices that led to this complaint. Once we made an effort to close our accounts with this company, we were told that they do not provide any documentation that we made that attempt and they would continue charging us until they saw fit after we were assessed over $1,000.00 of fees. They violated many ethics laws and banking policies.Desired Settlement: I want to make others aware of this terrible operation and I hope that noone else is maliciously treated as I was. We should be refunded the fees charged to us as a result of their unethical practices.

I am rejecting this response because:

In the response letter it was stated that the account did not have a sufficient deposit to cover any incoming withdrawals. That statement is untrue. A check was deposited and Univest did not abide by normal check posting timeframes and held the check for 7 days when the normal timeframe is 24 hours. This check was from another banking institute that one week prior, Univest had made funds from a separate check available immediately. I have since become aware that this is a common practice among banks, especially Univest. Banking institutes will hold a deposit in order to intentionally charge the customer overdraft fees. There is unfortunately numerous complaints of this being done specifically by Univest on multiple blogs and other online message boards. I am still seeking reimbursement for the fees so it does not continue with further legal action including a class action lawsuit.
