George did not oversee the project laborersIf he had, my decent plants wouldn't have been chopped to piecesI did not know that the laborers were not experienced landscapersSo, after going with me to a nursery to pick out plants, he left again until well after his laborers were finished the first day, waiting for his pick upThe second day, he brought the sod, and as soon as the first sheet was laid out, I questioned him why it wasn't the sod that matched our grass as I had requestedAt this point I had already given him $So, he left, by 10/am after a later start because the grass was wrongThe next day, Wednesday, he brought the correct grass and left againThe laborers were working, and they had no tiller, no topsoil to mix in to encourage growth of the sod, nothingI asked them to do the best they could and questioned why they didn't have any of the things to installing sod - tillers, topsoil, etc., because it was not their fault, it was the site manager, GeorgeHe had explained to me in the beginning that you needed to till the soil and mix in topsoilYet, that wasn't doneThe workers had a spade and square feet of sod, and that's itI had been encouraged to increase my order to square feet from the original square feet he thought I neededSo, therefore, the extra $for Seashore Paspalum, which I was quoted a price of $3.25/sqftThat afternoon, I called to get quotes for Seashore PaspalumI was told there was plenty everywhere and the cost was $per sq ft, to me, an individual, not a landscaper who (George said) received discounts from nurseries, etcOn top of that, I away NEVER told he was increasing the price for deliveryI still have the emails I which I asked for a breakdown of costsI was told if he wrote it down he would have to charge me more because I was getting a "deal"I went with him to pick up plantsI know he spent $or less at the two nurseries we purchased fromI paid him $in cash and a check to a stranger So, knowing I could have bought sod at $per sq ft cheaper, that black cinders are cheap, and the plant beds were $in plant cost, I think $is a scamWhy else would a credit card or check to Unlimited Landscape not be ok? I totally disagree with this accusations the amount she is saying she gave me is a lie we agreed to a total sum of $for plants weedcloth gravel labor and pick up and delivery of materials I did so much extra for this lady and yet she was so mean to me in the end she is totally not saying that I
purchased eltoro grass prior to the seashore grass she did not want it so that cost her to no fault of mines she was told it was eltoro prior to purchase So I had the task of ordering the sea shore alii turf is were I usually get our grass they did not have seashore so I called a sod farm in waianae they quoted me at $$275persqft landscapers price I up the price by 50cents more to cover the pickup and delivery cost and for installation cost I also lost a whole day because she did not want to lay the eltoro grass She was upset because she needed more grass If broke down every thing she should owe me but its OK I jus want to move on from this

I do have photo documentation of the sod not being put in tilled soil or mixed with topsoil, as well as the half done cinder work, the weeds coming through the sections supposedly weed-blocked, and the plumeria that immediately yellowed and all the leaves fell off before I was able to take a picture of the yellow leavesThe pictures are attached to the Word Document - I apologize that I could not figure out how to attach the pictures directly. As per my original complaint, though I asked for documentation of receipts and written plans of the work to be done, I was constantly told, "oh I don't know where I put it, I will get it later" (Dwayne, George's brother)Even though supposedly Dwayne came straight from the nursery to my home, he would not show me the receipt, because he lied, and was quoting me a dollar per square foot more than the cost of the sodHe never said, "The sod costs X dollars, and I am marking it up for delivery"IF he had said that, I would have gone to purchase the sod myself, and hired him solely for installation, due to bad shoulders that would keep me from doing the work myselfEven if the nursery itself had made the delivery, it would not have been $per square foot, I have had sod delivered to other homes. Dwayne repeatedly denied my requests for mock ups of costs, receipts for sod purchased, and insisted on cash and a check to someone by the name of *** ***, who he said was his partnerI have not been able to find out if that was a true statementHowever, I do know that the name is not of Unlimited Landscape Hawaii, Dwayne, or George. I do not have any written documentation as a result, but I could get a copy of the check and cash withdrawal from *** ** *** during the dates of work, July 11-13, I wrote a complaint shortly afterwards, when Dwayne would not respond to my emails to their work email account, or give me receipts or breakdowns of laborLast week is when we wrote back and forth through the Revdex.com.I can't express how upset I am that I trusted him right up until the last dayHe was wrong on square footage of sod needed, he hired obviously inexperienced laborers who told me when he was gone (during 90% of the work) that he was paying them $cash a day.Adding all of it up, I got ripped offDwayne SAID he would eat the cost of the 'wrong' sod, only to call me back and tell me it wasn't his fault that he recommended grass that completely did not match the rest of yard, even though I had touched and stood directly on top of what I wanted him to match (paspalum) and he purchased a different kind of grass (zoysia)As soon as he unrolled it I was extremely upsetIt was such an obvious mismatch that I don't know how Dwayne considered that sod the right purchase or a good professional recommendationOur entire neighborhood was built in the 50's and zoysia wasn't used as sod back thenAll of our neighbors have paspalum just like usyou can't drive down my street and see Zoysia anywhere. It was unprofessional, incorrect, poorly executed and an overall disaster, financially and cosmetically for myself and my propertyAll I am asking for is the cost of the sod that Dwayne said he would cover since he purchased the wrong sod in the first place, a sod that did not match and was more expensive than the grass that actually matched, plus marked up for delivery without ever telling me; instead telling me that grass was not readily available and that there was a grass shortage at all the nurseries, therefore the cost.I was lied to, overcharged and never received any of the paperwork or receipts requestedUnlimited Landscape Hawaii should not be allowed to stay in business, and if Dwayne or the owner of the company has any conscience at all, they would refund the monies I have requested backSincerely, *** ***PS Please, Please let me know if the *** ** *** receipts will make a differenceI will print them off of *** ** *** and scan them in as proof of what was paid

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:I expected a professional to advise me on sod to match my existing lawn. I was told that my lawn was mostly El Toro Zoysia. In fact, my house and most of the houses in my neighborhood have Seashore Paspalum, because that is what developers used until the late 60s and my house was built in 1959. Instead of explaining and reviewing the options, or, as a professional perhaps showing me pictures or explaining anything about the sod, George just said, "El Toro". So when it arrived, I was understandably upset because FROM THE BEGINNING, I said I wanted to match the grass in specific areas of my lawn and stood on it, pointed it out, the softness, the small blades, etc. So, I was told wrong, and George said he would cover the cost of the sod because of the mistake. Several hours later, he wanted payment, and I gave it, suspiciously, because he was very insistent on cash or a check that was written to not the company, but an individual he said was "his partner." George did not oversee the project laborers. If he had, my decent plants wouldn't have been chopped to pieces. I did not know that the laborers were not experienced landscapers. So, after going with me to a nursery to pick out plants, he left again until well after his laborers were finished the first day, waiting for his pick up. The second day, he brought the sod, and as soon as the first sheet was laid out, I questioned him why it wasn't the sod that matched our grass as I had requested. At this point I had already given him $1500. So, he left, by 10/11 am after a later start because the grass was wrong. The next day, Wednesday, he brought the correct grass and left again. The laborers were working, and they had no tiller, no topsoil to mix in to encourage growth of the sod, nothing. I asked them to do the best they could and questioned why they didn't have any of the things normal to installing sod - tillers, topsoil, etc., because it was not their fault, it was the site manager, George. He had explained to me in the beginning that you needed to till the soil and mix in topsoil. Yet, that wasn't done. The workers had a spade and 400 square feet of sod, and that's it. I had been encouraged to increase my order to 400 square feet from the original 250 square feet he thought I needed. So, therefore, the extra $1300 for Seashore Paspalum, which I was quoted a price of $3.25/sqft. That afternoon, I called to get quotes for Seashore Paspalum. I was told there was plenty everywhere and the cost was $2.25 per sq ft, to me, an individual, not a landscaper who (George said) received discounts from nurseries, etc. On top of that, I away NEVER told he was increasing the price for delivery. I still have the emails I which I asked for a breakdown of costs. I was told if he wrote it down he would have to charge me more because I was getting a "deal". I went with him to pick up plants. I know he spent $250 or less at the two nurseries we purchased from. I paid him $4000 in cash and a check to a stranger.  So, knowing I could have bought sod at $1 per sq ft cheaper, that black cinders are cheap, and the plant beds were $250 in plant cost, I think $4000 is a scam. Why else would a credit card or check to Unlimited Landscape not be ok? I have pictures, also - this "weed clot" has quite a few weeds for one weeks time of being planted. Overall. The job was unsatisfactory, and I was scammed. I would like the cost of the Seashore Paspalum returned - it's not planted well, or how it was discussed. I had an out right refusal for a written quote and when I asked for the receipts, George was very evasive, and never produced them. Then, after I emailed him, he refused to email back, resulting in my complaint to the Revdex.com. The workers told me they were being paid cash $100 a day. By that time, he already had my check and had cashed it the same day - you can check my bank statements. And I can provide pictures for each of my complaints. Please someone, help me get some of this money, probably under the table in retrospect, back from the scam artist who completely took me in because I thought he was nice and honest, only to be proven wrong.
Sincerely,
