On June [redacted], [redacted] came into the store requesting an estimate to have 4 pieces of furniture re-upholstered. She then provided us with all of the required information for Upholstery Decorations to drive to [redacted] to view the...

furniture and provide an actuate estimate. Once the estimate was provided she then asked for a better (lower) price because she did not want to spend too much. Therefore, the discount was given and the contract was made and the furniture picked up. A deposit is required in order for any job to begin. It is our practice to prepare any furniture for re-upholstery by removing the old fabric which will later be re-upholstered with the new. We cannot accommodate for storage do to the fact that space is limited and any job must be started immediately. 
A week later, [redacted] returned to Upholstery Decoration being extremely disrespectful and insulting demanding that the deposit and the furniture be returned because she needed time to look for the fabric. She had access to all of the fabric books that we have within our store but she was not satisfied. We then provided her with the name and addresses to a few fabric stores located in [redacted]. [redacted] was informed that if she made in selection we would be able to get her a discount at the store she selected. Even with all this, she was still being extremely disrespectful and insulting showing no consideration towards anyone. For this reason, we asked [redacted] if we could disguise further matters with him and if she continued the police would have to be called. Shortly afterward, a call was received regarding the yardage for one of the love seats. She was advised if the fabric selected was a solid then only 7 to 8 yards would be needed but if the fabric had a p attern/design then 10 yards would be needed. The standard width of any fabric is 54 inches. The fabric received was 60 inches in width. The excess of fabric was returned along with the furniture once the job was completed and in perfect conditions. Regardless, we knew that [redacted] would find an issue with the work. [redacted] signed for the furniture which specified that the furniture being received was in perfect conditions and a copy was provided. 
When [redacted] asked for a refund, she was not considering the preparation time which was put into preparing all the furniture and work completed, including the pick-up and delivery to [redacted] which is about a 1hour 40 minute drive round trip depending on traffic. 
Therefore, our attorney has been informed of this incident based on the actions taken by [redacted], as well as, in front of the officer. She also threatens to use any means of media necessary to provided us with a bad reputation. At Upholstery Decorations, it is our job to provide a service to the public as best as possible. This can be seen the furniture returned to [redacted] as well as the pictures taken (which can be provided as well). Therefore, no refund will be granted. If any further actions are required, we are prepared to do so by either going to court or any legal method if necessary.

Review: [redacted] Upholstery Decorations, [redacted] and [redacted] is not a professional business man and he does not upholster furniture well at all! He came to my home unannounced after I told one of his employees that the price was too high. When at my house, I felt pressured because he was begging for my business. He lowered his price and was insisting he take the chairs with him to the shop while I looked for the fabric. He also took a deposit of $600. After he left I felt uneasy and uncomfortable about the whole deal. I didn't have fabric yet and felt pressured into looking for it since he had my chairs and my money. After a few days of looking for fabric, which I didn't find, I called him to ask if I can have the chairs and deposit back until I found the fabric. He informed that this is not possible because he removed all the fabric from my chairs already. If I wanted them back I would have to pay him for removing the fabric. I never told him to do that and any professional would know not to remove the fabric until they were given new fabric to replace it. I was furious, but felt I was at a loss because he had my chairs and money. Therefore, I rushed to buy a fabric for one of the chairs (which was the settee). He would not return any of my phone calls to give me the correct yardage in order to buy the fabric. His original estimate of ten yards ended up being three yards too much! When I received the finished product I was very upset and unhappy. His work was unprofessional, he changed the entire style of the settee and it was uneven in many places. At this point I wanted my other chairs back and my money. I called to notify him I was coming to get my chairs and my money. When I showed up he was on his way out and jumped in his car and took off. I approached the worker for my chairs and when I saw them they were missing all the seats and pillows. He claimed he didn't know where they were and that they were rotted. Not true! I looked around the store and noticed one of my seats so I continued to look for the others. He hid the other pillows and some were in the garbage. At this point I called the police. I left with my chairs, without fabric, but never received my money back. [redacted] and his employee, [redacted]), are dishonest, vindictive, and unprofessional in every way. I would not recommend this business to anyone! Save yourself the stress!Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for my deposit of $600 and for the fabric for the chair that he ruined of $393. As well as, the cost of padding the chairs again since he removed it all.
