UPS Store 6138 Reviews (4)

With regard to this complaint, we accept a large number of ‘drop off’ packages everyday for both the UPS and USPS (Postal) ServicesWe are a contract shipper for UPS and an approved postal provider for the USPSAll of these drop off packages have prepaid labels for the service chosen by the person
dropping off the packageIn most cases, there is no transaction of any kind between this store and the customerOccasionally, as in this case, the person sending the item off buys an envelope or box in which to ship their item, or prints their return label on our printerWe have nothing to do with the accuracy or quality of these labelsWe don’t doubt that this customer bought an envelope for the item, but we did not provide the shipping label for whatever item was left to be picked up by the carrierAs a courtesy to these postal customers, we collect both first class mail and packages in a specific area of the store where only postal items are kept until the carrier picks them upWe are not responsible for how, when, or if the carrier scans these packages into their systemEveryday all of these items are picked up in the afternoon and taken to the post office for distribution to their destinationsAgain this service, the ability for patrons to drop off their pre-paid packages, is a courtesy we provide to those who wish to take advantage of the convenience of our location rather than going directly to the post officeWe do not have the package in questionAssuming it was left with us, it was picked up, by the postal carrier who serviced us that day, and we assume, taken to the post officeWe do not believe that providing this courtesy, for the convenience of the patron, makes us liable for the loss of that itemWe were just the conduit through which the package was given to the postal serviceIt was deposited here, like in a mail box, until the carrier picked it upWe provided a safe and convenient place for the package to sit until thenAfter it was picked up, there is no way that we could have any knowledge of its dispositionTherefore, we accept no culpability with regard to that dispositionThe recommended action from here would be to pursue a claim with the postal serviceSince we didn’t create the mailing label, I would first ask what kind of service was provided with the prepaid labelThe person who printed the label should know what service was paid forIf the package was sent via PRIORITY mail, it would automatically have $of insurance through the postal serviceI suggest that a claim be filed against the tracking number in question and work with the US Postal Service to get it resolvedSincerely, Mark & Elisabeth U***, owners The UPS Store *** ** *** *** *** ** ***

I am rejecting this response because: referring me to a company that there is no proof had a hand in this matter is unacceptableI have reviewed USPS' procedures, and as previously stated, it would have been noted sometime, somewhere within their company if they had my package at any pointI am under no impression, nor is there any proof, that my package was provided to USPSThe package may have been misplaced or stolen by an employee at the UPS store that I dropped my package off atSince that package never left the store that I provided it to, I am holding the store responsible for mishandling my item.

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: USPS has absolutely no proof that they ever had a package given to themIt was not scanned at the UPS store, the main Boise store to be shipped out, no store on the way here to Massachusetts, and the store in Massachusetts said that they would have known if the package made it to the, despite any scans (though that never happens)I have had them do a "Missing package" case for me and THEY NEVER RECEIVED THE PACKAGEDue to that, it seems as though the package never left the UPS store that I gave it toI don't know if it was taken, misplaced or some of form of negligence, but there is no proof it left thereHowever, if you check the security camera you can see me pick a envelope, put my $item into the package IN FRONT OF YOUR EMPLOYEE, hand her the label (which if there was any problem I should have been notified, or it should have made it back to my address) and SHE put the label on my package. Since there is no proof that USPS ever received the package that I provided UPS, I strongly feel that it is UPS responsibility to resolve this.
Sincerely,

Respectfully, we reject her rejection. We would refer her back to the last paragraph of our initial response, to pursue this through the company or person who issued the return label and the post office for further action and any claim for money.   Thank you for the opportunity to respond. We will not respond to this again. The matter is closed.   Mark & Elisabeth U[redacted] The UPS Store 6138 [redacted] [redacted] 208-345-2042 (P) 208-345-2052 (F) theupsstorelocal.com/6138 facebook.com/theUPSstoreVistaVillage
