I was referred to Al Pettit by my home inspector to replace a rotted set of windows in the house I had just purchased Not a huge job, but not a small one either Since then Al and his crew have renovated my entire house, added bedrooms and a bathroom to what was my attic, and are about to start construction on a sf free-standing barn next to my house I am a real estate investor in Short Hills NJ and have built or renovated almost homes Of all the contractors I have ever worked with, Al is the most skilled, most conscientious, and most responsible one I have ever hired He is punctual, and does what he promises, for the price he promises He listens to what I want, and is creative in getting the work done I would highly recommend Al and his crew for anything from a small renovation to a building a new home of your dreams

We received Upstate Home Medic's name from our realtor after a home inspection indicated that we had some mold in our atticWe called Al and he was at our home on a Sunday evening to provide a quote and had a team at our home that Tuesday and his guys worked until they reached perfectionAl went above and beyond to get the job done quickly and to perfectionHe and his team were honest and respectful which are qualities that are hard to find in the business world todayWould and will recommend his services to others in the future

I contacted Al Pettit with Upstate Home Medic a few weeks ago when my tank less water heater suddenly stopped working He had been listed on the *** website as a certified technician, and so I thought that would be the perfect place to start I had contacted my original installer earlier in the day and hadn't heard back from him yet, so I decided to go to plan B in order to get hot water again I spoke with Al late Tuesday and he was very friendly and seemed eager to help rectify my problem After explaining my issue to him, he told me that he couldn't get to my house that evening, but that he could be there the next day He said, "I'll get started in the morning on another job that I have and get my guys going and then come to your house between and That way, if I get there early and something needs to be ordered, it can be done early in the day If I'm not able to leave my job in the morning, I will be there later in the afternoon" My response to him was, "Great, I can take the day off from work I had planned to be able to do so if I were able to get someone to come and look at the unit" I proceeded to take the following day off from work and waited for Upstate Home Medic to arrive In the meantime, I received a return phone call from the original installer that morning telling me that he would be at my house at noon if I still needed him I thanked him for getting back to me and informed him that I did not need him to come out, that I had contacted Upstate Home Medic and that they would be at my house that day At 2PM, when I still had not received any word from Upstate Home Medic, I sent a text to MrPettit and asked when I should expect his arrival He responded then and told me that he had gotten behind on a unit and was hoping to be done in an hour or so and he would text when he left there At 5PM, when I still hadn't heard anything from him, I text him again I was very frustrated at this point as MrPettit had in fact told me that he would be at my house that day He never, in my conversation with him the day prior, gave me any reason to believe that I would not be seeing him at some point that day MrPettit responded to my text with a paragraph explanation explaining why he was held up and reiterating to me that he is the only authorized *** provider in the area and that he was stretched thin He went as far as to say in his text to me that I had already taken the day off hoping that I could get someone at my home and that he was assuming I had already unsuccessfully tried the original installer He ended his text with "he would hopefully get a unit up and running that evening and the best he could do is to let me know when he was done" He also asked for me to let him know what I was going to do and how I was going to proceed and we would go from there I immediately responded to MrPettit that the original installer had in fact called me that morning and was going to come by, but that I had told him that it wasn't necessary as Upstate Home Medic had told me they would be there The last thing I wanted to do was to call off Upstate Home Medic after I had already told them I would be at home waiting for them In hindsight, I should have done just that as my time was apparently only valuable to to me The last text message I sent to Upstate Home Medic was asking if there was any way he could determine and tell me if he would be at my house the following day for sure I received absolutely no response to this text I found MrPettit to be extremely condescending and although his text communication and sarcasm was masked with "good intentions", he lacked customer service and professionalism He had been very clear with me that he was coming to my home the following day; I feel the least he could have done is communicated with me during the day and let me know that that was clearly not going to happen When called on it, MrPettit chose to simply not respondI do understand that things come up and that in this type of work, schedules can be difficult to keep However, MrPettit very clearly told me that he would be at my home on a specific date and failed to show and only communicated otherwise when I reached out to him (twice) Simple communication could have not only saved a lot of frustration on my part, but also an extremely negative review of his professionalism that I will now share with my friends, neighbors and potential customers

Of all the contractors I have ever worked with, Al is the most skilled, most conscientious, and most responsible one I have ever hired. He is punctual, and does what he promises, for the price he promises. He listens to what I want, and is creative in getting the work done.
