**. and [redacted], we arrived on 7/28/16 and found the following: The filter was very dirty preventing proper air flow. We removed the dirty filter and advised you have it replaced. We then checked the outside condenser unit and found the AC condenser, which is over 20 years old, with a dirty coil,...

causing the system to overheat. We used your garden hose to wash the system in order to alleviate the system pressures. Once the overheating stopped, we put our refrigerant gauges on the system. We then found the system was not cooling up to capacity because of the existing loss of some refrigerant. We advised it would take approximately one pound to bring the system to specifications. You initially declined, but after conversation with [redacted], she agreed to have the refrigerant added. After the refrigerant was added we removed our gauges, wrote the service ticket, and left. The next day, 7/29/16, you called us back saying the system was not working properly. We arrived at the home and witnessed with [redacted], the system blower shutting off intermittently. It was determined the thermostat was causing this issue. The second technician present went upstairs and moved the thermostat, which then brought on the fan. The thermostat in place was the old mercury analog thermostat. These are no longer in use by the industry as they tend to lose calibration. We advised to have the thermostat replaced. There was some icing on the condenser suction valve of the outside unit. We presumed this was because the indoor fan was not blowing consistently while the AC system was running. We then received a call from a technician from another company. He told us the schrader valve was not seating properly and leaking refrigerant.  He also confirmed the thermostat was an issue as well. Please note the expected life on these systems is 12-15 years old. Yours is a 20 year old unit. The action of putting on and removing the gauges is part of a routine service and should not have caused to valve to remain open. The system is old and should be replaced. This has nothing to with any incorrect or deliberate action on A One's behalf. I returned to your home on Saturday morning 7/30/16, and refilled the system at no charge. In conclusion and reviewing what we found. this was not just a routine maintenance as your system was in fact malfunctioning. We did not do anything to cause your system work improperly. We have not processed your credit card for payment and will not do so. We work with several hundred customers every year and have built a sound reputation on quality service with integrity. We understand how you feel in this situation, and we are sorry you didn't have a better experience.
