Urban Pest Management Reviews (3)

We had used [redacted] with Urban Pest Management for previous services at our home. We had our house sprayed and also treated for ants with their company. [redacted] was pleasant and seemed efficient with his services. When we first moved into our home, we found 1 scorpion outside around our fire place/BBQ area and we immediately had [redacted] out to spray. We didn't see anymore scorpions after that. We did get some ants in our home and immediately had those treated too. The reason I am writing this review is because of the most recent experience I had with this business. I want to give a disclaimer that "we almost always try to use a local small business for services, over a large corporate company". Over the past weekend I was stung by a scorpion inside our home. This was the very first time I had found one inside. It happened to be bad luck that I unfortunately got stung. I immediately called Urban Pest to schedule an appointment for [redacted] to come out and treat for scorpions inside. We had previously has such a good experience with the outside, we wanted to use the same place. I spoke with [redacted] (who is ***'s wife and employee) and she told me that if we had been on more frequent treatments that we wouldn't have a problem. I listened to her information (knowing that we had only seen two at this point in almost 18 months and are on the lookout for them because of the area we live in)and asked if I could continue to schedule the appointment as soon as possible as I wanted a professional to come out and take a look. I trusted ***'s knowledge and efficiency. It would make us feel better about the situation if we had a treatment, knowing that we live in the desert and this could happen again. While waiting for her to schedule the appointment, [redacted] had stated that [redacted] was very busy over the next few days doing termite treatments (which were my only off days). I asked [redacted] if she had a recommendation for another company we could use in the meantime that might have availability within the next few days. I also asked if we could do an appointment after I got home from work instead. [redacted] scheduled the appointment for 5:30pm on Wednesday. She seemed offended that I would ask for a recommendation and I didn't really hang up the call with a very good feeling, but we really liked [redacted] so I didn't think anything of it. The day before our appointment, I received a text message from [redacted] stating this: Here's the number to another pest control company. (***)-***-***. I don't think we can provide the service your looking for. I asked if this message meant they were cancelling our appointment the following day. Her response was: Yes. Call the other number if you would like. At this point I wasn't aware that [redacted] was ***'s wife, so I sent [redacted] (our pest control guy) a text asking him why our appointment was cancelled? He sent me a very lengthy text message that stated that we basically didn't listen to him about spraying consistently to gain control of the population of scorpions. (We had 2 in 18 months!) That because of our service records (meaning we aren't signed up for a monthly service) he wasn't able to help us. Oh, there was also a clear offense taken when I asked them for a personal recommendation for another company if I couldn't schedule with them. Obviously, this husband and wife team took offense when asked for a simple recommendation. The only reason I asked them instead of doing a google search was because we prefer to give our money to small businesses. This one won't be getting our approval anymore! We were left with a cancelled appointment and no service the day before. Honestly, I think things would have gone a ton better if [redacted] would have stated that they couldn't help us while on the phone with me. I wouldn't have been "left holding the bag".
