Urban talent scam
It is a waste of time explaining the same situation that many have already written over and over on many review websites! My story is the same as everyone…. an hour long “fast talking” sales pitch, pressured into signing a contract, tried to back out an hour after I left, they wouldn’t let me, sent a formal written termination letter, no services rendered and no money exchanged. Then the harassment started and the endless phone calls and threats. Blah blah! Fast talking Alex telling me how fabulous she is and the company is!
Like most of these bad reviews, I am a Poor college student and was recruited on instagram and I didn’t do my research and read all horrific reviews all over the internet.
They pray on young, naïve, poor college students and play into their vanity. Hard to believe no one has shut them down. Hard to believe anyone could work for a company like this. You would think a state or government agency would go after these crooks! Class action lawsuit possibly?
I have lots of time and resources so I plan to using every resource to burry them. Go look at their website and the photos of the scammers that work for this company. Play special attention to the CEO. Let’s just say I wouldn’t be in a room by myself with him. I will leave it at that. Karma will take of them! There is also a special place in hell for this company and the people that work for them scamming and lying to everyone! Sadly there low level employees that are so brainwashed into thinking they are doing something good for people. The directors and the middle management and the higher-ups are just sleazy sales people that are predators. Karma

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: They told me that if something came up I didn't have to attend the workshopAnd with that I thought that I wouldn't have to pay which I was wrong in thinking that, But also in the contract it says that I can only terminate it on the day that the contract was signedWhich seems like a bit of a scamI can only get out of this nightmare on that one day and only that dayThat seems a little fishyIt seems like all they want is peoples moneyAnd if you are "talented" then they give you higher paying jobs, But I am sure that they tell everyone that they have real talent and with just a little work you can become a "professional actor"Which I think that you can do that, but you shouldn't have to pay a giant sum of money to them, they should find jobs for you that they think you would be perfect at and could really make some moneyThen they get a cut of the money you make off the jobNot "Pay this, and if you don't we'll just come after you and make pay more for doing nothing"I get emails all the time for "URGENT: Asian Girls" its like yeah that is a great job for me? It just feels like I am on a list of dozens of other people that are wanting an actual job that they would be good at, not just spamI never attended a workshop, and I never paid themYes, I signed a contract after them made it seem so great and told that I could really go placesI felt almost pushed into itI mean is money that important to them? If you don't do anything then you are just forced to pay a giant debt to themThe only thing I did was sign that stupid contract that I felt pressured intoWould it be really hard to just let me go, and cancel my contract? Honestly I feel like they are just scamming people in a very legal way so it seems like its not illegalThey present you with all this information that they don't give you much time to read and then pressure in to signing itWhat do them lose by me not doing this? A crap ton of money they are trying to scam me out of? It just seems a little bit far fetched that they make all their money by getting models jobsAll they want is money and as long as you do that, they'll make it seem like you are the best model/actor around Sincerely, [redacted]

Telephone response obtained as follows: The company stated that they have already revised the wording on their website to address this issue

First of all, Ms [redacted] ’s complaint is entirely falseAt no time did she sign an agreement with Urban Talent Management to pay for any type of training or photography services and Urban has never asked her for a dimeThis fact invalidates her entire complaintMs [redacted] did however sign an agreement with Style Incorporated for training and photography services for $1,on 5/10/In that contract she agreed to pay $per month on the 20th of each month until the entire amount was paid in full (see paragraphs and on the attached)On 5/20/she did not make her payment as promised (her card declined) but instead made a payment of $on 5/27/The same thing occurred in June when her card declined again and she made a payment of $6/27/She was in breach of contract within days of signing it but we gave her a break and tried to work with herOn 7/20/her card declined yet again but this time our calls and texts went unansweredWe attempted to contact her many times with no response to work something out with herI’m unsure why she is now, over an entire year later, is asking to “come to some sort of agreement.” That is something we were willing to do on 7/21/All she had to do was respondAs a result, pursuant to paragraph of the contract, her open balance was sent to collectionsIn that paragraph she literally asked Style to send her to collections in the event that she defaulted on her paymentsWe simply followed the contract that she chose to sign and rather than being accountable for her choice she chose to write a slanderous and complaint to bully Style into letting her out of her contractWe honor our contracts and we asked that those with home we contract do the sameA couple of additional points of clarification, Ms [redacted] was not made any promises, given any information, nor was she rushedShe was at when she signed the agreement and certainly capable of making her own decisions and capable of signing contractsShe was not forced, she chose to signI’m unsure as to why Ms [redacted] keeps referring to her contract as a “piece of paper.” This “piece of Paper,” as she calls it, is a legally binding documentThis suggests that she doesn’t take her word or her promises or her contacts seriouslyIf she doesn’t care about honoring her word, then how can any of her complaint be taken seriously? Additionally, Ms [redacted] was not “tricked” or “preyed upon,” again she chose to sign the contractShe was given every opportunity to read the contract and whether or not she chose to read it was her choiceRegarding the contract, in paragraph it clearly states that the contract can be neither canceled nor refundedIt further states that Ms [redacted] agreed to pay the entire balance whether she chose to consume the services or notThis section is underlined and Ms [redacted] even initialed it (see attached)Ms [redacted] was placed in a workshop that occurred on 5/31/and 6/6/She confirmed but she chose not to attendWe can’t force someone to attend the workshopRegarding her ramblings about New York and California agencies, Ms [redacted] has no idea how agencies in those states operateAnd unless she actually models for or owns an agency in these states she is in no position to make any comparisons to UrbanWhat I can tell you is the agencies which we have continually worked with in NY and LA for the past years, do not pay for models’ photography and portfolios nor do they pay for models’ trainingThe point being that anyone reading this should not take Ms [redacted] ’s “advise” when it comes to modelingLastly, I am troubled that some who thinks so little of her word, her promises and her agreements is applying to become part of our militaryI want to be able to trust our military men and womenAs for her desired resolution, she has had a year to contact us to work something outInstead of contacting us directly, she chose to go on online and write claims and complaints to bully Style into a settlementThis is a cowardly move in my opinionMy resolution is that Ms [redacted] honor her contact and pay the collections agency what is owedIf she is willing unwilling to do that then my desire is to pursue slander, defamation and libel claims against her and my attorney will be in contact with her Tell us why here

I’m not clear, but I think Ms [redacted] said that she did not want to take the time to read through my response but then she said my response “was all lies.” I don’t know how to process thatAlso, I’m not sure how to respond to this complaint if she is unwilling to read my responsesWhat is clear is that Ms [redacted] has never had any intention of handling this matter with honesty and accountabilityShe did not “come to us to work something out.” If she had, I’d have been willing to work with herBut instead she ignored us for a year (apparently her “attorney” advised her to this) and then she went on the Revdex.com website and posted a scathing and altogether complaint against UrbanThat’s not a great way to motivate someone to work with youWhat is also clear is that that Ms [redacted] has no understanding of corporate or contract lawShe claims that Urban and Style are not two “sepret” companiesThe fact is, Style Incwas incorporated in and Urban Talent in They are two separate legal entities; S-Corporations to be specificHad Ms [redacted] had bothered to do even minimal research, she would have discovered this factI will honor her request and "send the lawyers her way." Tell us why here

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I am rejecting this response because:
I'm just gonna take this to court I'm not gonna do this back and forth with you guys you are and evil and greedy company who make your money off of stealingany real company would value The integrity of their business more then a few Thousand dollars that they have done nothing to earn or deserve, but then again it's probably the only way you guys make money is off of the people you screw over and the lives you destroyYou can try and twist my words however you want to try and make what you are doing seam right but at the end of the day we all know what you areI just wish I would have known better before doing Business with you that this is how you would beAnd I hope anyone who is reading this will be smart enough to go get modeling work somewhere else it doesn't matter what your Revdex.com rating isI would never do business with a company who relies on steeling from good people to keep their Business afloat, and then acts like complete children about it when someone stands up to them and calls them out on their bsI will be screenshoting all of your responses and all of mine and posting them everywhereI want people to know what kind of people they are dealing with when they decide to do business with youI'm not the only one who has been cheeted by your company but I think other people don't feel like they have any hope so they just give in and pay youBut I'm a stubborn person who is willing to stand up for what I know is right and I'm not just gonna hand you over my hard earned money that's getting me through college without a fight

Most of ***’s complaint is false*** signed a
contract with Style Incfor an acting workshopThe contract was not with
Urban Talent and Urban is not “a.k.a.” Style, they are two separate corporations
He signed the $1,contract on 10/7/and promised to pay $per month on
the
21st of each month until the contract is paid in full, with the
first payment starting on 10/21/The workshop that *** was to attend was scheduled
for 10/21/and then it was rescheduled to 11/11/15, not months later as he
claimsAlso, rescheduling a workshop is very standard in the industry and nowhere
in the contract is there a guaranteed start date
Having said that, information about scheduling is irrelevant
The reason *** never attended the workshop is because on 10/21/15, he
breeched his contract by failing to make his first paymentHe never made a
single payment even though he claims he made one paymentWe made several
attempts to collect his first payment but he refusedHe told us that his mom
lost her job and was unable to assist himSo it would seem that ***’s real
reason for not attending was financial and not a scheduling matter as he
claimed*** was (and sill is) in breach of contract and therefore he was
not eligible to attend the workshop unless he remedied the breach, which he did
not
***’s mention of being in High School is also irrelevant
He is years old, of sound mind and body and capable of making his own
decisionsAs for desired resolution, as he is an able-bodied young man, I
invite *** to get a job, pay his contract, be his word and not blame
everyone else for his choices

I’m not clear, but I think Ms. [redacted] said that she did not want to take the time to read through my response but then she said my response “was all lies.” I don’t know how to process that. Also, I’m not sure how to respond to this complaint if she is unwilling to read my responses. What is clear is that Ms. [redacted] has never had any intention of handling this matter with honesty and accountability. She did not “come to us to work something out.” If she had, I’d have been willing to work with her. But instead she ignored us for a year (apparently her “attorney” advised her to this) and then she went on the Revdex.com website and posted a scathing and altogether false complaint against Urban. That’s not a great way to motivate someone to work with you. What is also clear is that that Ms. [redacted] has no understanding of corporate or contract law. She claims that Urban and Style are not two “sepret” companies. The fact is, Style Inc. was incorporated in 1995 and Urban Talent in 1997. They are two separate legal entities; S-Corporations to be specific. Had Ms. [redacted] had bothered to do even minimal research, she would have discovered this fact. I will honor her request and "send the lawyers her way." Tell us why here...

I am rejecting this response because:
They told me that if something came up I didn't have to attend the workshop. And with that I thought that I wouldn't have to pay which I was wrong in thinking that, But also in the contract it says that I can only terminate it on the day that the contract was signed. Which seems like a bit of a scam. I can only get out of this nightmare on that one day and only that day. That seems a little fishy. It seems like all they want is peoples money. And if you are "talented" then they give you higher paying jobs, But I am sure that they tell everyone that they have real talent and with just a little work you can become a "professional actor". Which I think that you can do that, but you shouldn't have to pay a giant sum of money to them, they should find jobs for you that they think you would be perfect at and could really make some money. Then they get a cut of the money you make off the job. Not "Pay this, and if you don't we'll just come after you and make pay more for doing nothing". I get emails all the time for "URGENT: Asian Girls" its like yeah that is a great job for me? It just feels like I am on a list of dozens of other people that are wanting an actual job that they would be good at, not just spam. I never attended a workshop, and I never paid them. Yes, I signed a contract after them made it seem so great and told that I could really go places. I felt almost pushed into it. I mean is money that important to them? If you don't do anything then you are just forced to pay a giant debt to them. The only thing I did was sign that stupid contract that I felt pressured into. We have resolved this matter directly with [redacted]. Thank you,Bret U**

First of all, Ms. [redacted]’s complaint is entirely false. At no time did she sign an agreement with Urban Talent Management to pay for any type of training or photography services and Urban has never asked her for a dime. This fact invalidates her entire complaint. Ms. [redacted] did however sign an...

agreement with Style Incorporated for training and photography services for $1,750 on 5/10/16. In that contract she agreed to pay $200 per month on the 20th of each month until the entire amount was paid in full (see paragraphs 2 and 8 on the attached). On 5/20/16 she did not make her payment as promised (her card declined) but instead made a payment of $100 on 5/27/16. The same thing occurred in June when her card declined again and she made a payment of $100 6/27/16. She was in breach of contract within 11 days of signing it but we gave her a break and tried to work with her. On 7/20/16 her card declined yet again but this time our calls and texts went unanswered. We attempted to contact her many times with no response to work something out with her. I’m unsure why she is now, over an entire year later, is asking to “come to some sort of agreement.” That is something we were willing to do on 7/21/16. All she had to do was respond. As a result, pursuant to paragraph 2 of the contract, her open balance was sent to collections. In that paragraph she literally asked Style to send her to collections in the event that she defaulted on her payments. We simply followed the contract that she chose to sign and rather than being accountable for her choice she chose to write a slanderous and false complaint to bully Style into letting her out of her contract. We honor our contracts and we asked that those with home we contract do the same. A couple of additional points of clarification, Ms. [redacted] was not made any false promises, given any false information, nor was she rushed. She was 18 at when she signed the agreement and certainly capable of making her own decisions and capable of signing contracts. She was not forced, she chose to sign. I’m unsure as to why Ms. [redacted] keeps referring to her contract as a “piece of paper.” This “piece of Paper,” as she calls it, is a legally binding document. This suggests that she doesn’t take her word or her promises or her contacts seriously. If she doesn’t care about honoring her word, then how can any of her complaint be taken seriously? Additionally, Ms. [redacted] was not “tricked” or “preyed upon,” again she chose to sign the contract. She was given every opportunity to read the contract and whether or not she chose to read it was her choice. Regarding the contract, in paragraph 3 it clearly states that the contract can be neither canceled nor refunded. It further states that Ms. [redacted] agreed to pay the entire balance whether she chose to consume the services or not. This section is underlined and Ms. [redacted] even initialed it (see attached). Ms. [redacted] was placed in a workshop that occurred on 5/31/16 and 6/6/16. She confirmed but she chose not to attend. We can’t force someone to attend the workshop. Regarding her ramblings about New York and California agencies, Ms. [redacted] has no idea how agencies in those states operate. And unless she actually models for or owns an agency in these states she is in no position to make any comparisons to Urban. What I can tell you is the agencies which we have continually worked with in NY and LA for the past 20 years, do not pay for models’ photography and portfolios nor do they pay for models’ training. The point being that anyone reading this should not take Ms. [redacted]’s “advise” when it comes to modeling. Lastly, I am troubled that some who thinks so little of her word, her promises and her agreements is applying to become part of our military. I want to be able to trust our military men and women. As for her desired resolution, she has had a year to contact us to work something out. Instead of contacting us directly, she chose to go on online and write false claims and complaints to bully Style into a settlement. This is a cowardly move in my opinion. My resolution is that Ms. [redacted] honor her contact and pay the collections agency what is owed. If she is willing unwilling to do that then my desire is to pursue slander, defamation and libel claims against her and my attorney will be in contact with her.   Tell us why here...
