My husband and I recently took our dog into Urgent Pet Care on a Sunday evening because he hadn't eaten since Friday, he was extremely lethargic, and had quickness in breath When we arrived, we were treated with kindness and concern, as well as a positive receptionist We were situated in a room quickly with our dog, and talked to the tech about what was going on She was very nice and warned us of what the Vet would likely say given the situationOther benefits of the staff were that they worked with us to figure out our pet insurance codes so that we could get a majority ($***) of our emergency fees ($***) covered (so get insurance for your dog) To try and keep a long story short, Dr [redacted] didn't sugar coat the diagnosis and possibilities because he sees these situations often We were thinking oh they will take the x-ray and then call us to tell us he will be okay after a night with IV fluidsNot even close, he went into emergency surgery and had to remove 70% of our dogs intestine, which ended up being one of the longest surgeries he has ever completedGiven the situations that Dr [redacted] has to deal with I believe that he was faced with making sure we understood the problem was real and life threatening to our dog, but in the end was an amazing surgeon and expressed great joy with a successful surgery Once we were through the worst, Dr [redacted] took significant time to sit down with us and discuss next steps, what diet changes might need to happen, and any other concern he might have Most importantly, Dr [redacted] looked beyond the surgical site of the small intestine and he found foreign bodies in our dogs stomachI believe that this situation worked out better than it could have at another vet, or with another surgeonWe are so blessed that we went to Urgent Pet Care and had Dr [redacted] as our surgeon On another note: If you have pet toys with squeakers, do not leave them with your animals unattendedHowever, even though we did that, our dog still managed to swallow more than squeakersOne blocked his small intestine and almost killed him within hours Thank you so much or all you have done for our family, Dr [redacted] and team! On another note: If you have pet toys with squeakers, do not leave them with your animals unattended. However, even though we did that, our dog still managed to swallow more than 6 squeakers. One blocked his small intestine and almost killed him within 72 hours.
