Uriels's Shoe Repair Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The scenario presented by Uriel is total fabrication.  I came in initially with two pairs of shoes in need of new heels.  The price for both pairs was quoted at $50 with the promise of polishing and "looking like new."
When I asked when I picked them up about how that did not include repairing a little seam, he told me he should charge $10 for that additional work, which he then did on the spot.  It took no more than 5 minutes.  And there was no sign of the promised polishing or even cleaning of the boots since they were still dirty and did not smell of shoe polish.
Obviously Uriel did not write this response, being somewhat limited in English, and he definitely never explained about a fee for a credit card until he screamed at me with my card in his hand when I attempted to pay and leave!  And there was no posting of this practice at that time.  In fact, no prices for shoe repair are posted.
Although it was at his suggestion that I priced this service at another establishment, he is not interested in the result apparently.  Of course, the other shoemaker did not profess to have the status Uriel gives himself.

Although he sings his own praises loudly, he certainly did nothing out of the ordinary in the limited work that he actually did.  I have spoken to other people in the neighborhood and they too find him overpriced and arrogant.  In his prayer for me, he accuses me of lying, something he seems to do very easily.

[redacted] [redacted] [redacted]...

[redacted] To Whom It May Concern: I am in receipt of the complaint filed by [redacted] stating that I over charged her for work that was done on her shoes. As well [redacted] is complaining about the quality of work performed and the surcharge for using credit cards. Please accept this letter as my official response to this complaint. [redacted] sought my expertise in repairing the soles on a pair of her shoes and I explained to her that the cost for replacing the soles would be $50.00. At the same time [redacted] inquired about fixing another part of the shoe to which I quoted her the price of $10.00. [redacted] requested I fix the soles on the shoes at which point I commenced with the work to be done. Removing soles from a pair of shoes, correcting and repairing the area and getting them ready for the new soles, is very labor intensive and took several hours to complete; which is the reason for the agreed upon price of $50.00. When [redacted] came in to pick up the repaired shoes she was fully satisfied with the replacement of the soles for which we had previously agreed upon. She asked me why I did not perform the other repair to the shoes, as outlined in her complaint, at which point I reminded her that this repair would incur an additional cost and she had not previously agreed to this work. The only work that was to be performed, as per our agreement, was the work on the soles. [redacted] began to complain and make a scene in my place of business so I agreed to perform the additional work on the shoes at no cost to her. The additional work was completed and she was fully satisfied. When it was time for her to check out I explained to [redacted] that we accept two forms of payment; cash or credit. It is store policy that we do not accept personal checks as in the past many checks have bounced and I do not have the technology in place to pre-authorize checks. There is a clearly visible sign hanging directly above the service counter explaining these payment options. [redacted] was very upset about the credit card surcharge so I told her the other option would be to pay cash and no surcharge would be incurred. She grudgingly agreed to use her credit card and pay the additional charge. This surcharge is assessed by the payment processor, not me, so I cannot waive this fee otherwise I would have to absorb the fee. Having already committed the time and resources into performing the additional repair not previously agreed upon in order to satisfy [redacted], I simply could not absorb the surcharge cost as well. It is important to mention once aga in that the payment options, as well as the surcharge notice, are clearly visible to my customers and the sign hangs directly over the service counter. I have been at this location for over 21 years, and have been in this business the better part of my life. I pride myself on the quality of work I perform as well as the lasting relationships I forge with my customers; many of whom have become close friends. I have a customer retention rate of 100% (less [redacted]) and have seen the same faces repeatedly over the years. I have always been praised for my work and have never had a complaint filed against me. Shoe repair is a dying art, and yes I do consider myself an artist. I take pride in what I do, it is not only my profession but my life’s work. I do not rush my work and I make sure that when I perform a job it is done to the very best of my ability; then and only then am I satisfied to release the item(s) back to the customer. I have been featured in several newspapers, magazines and trade press. My clients account for some of the biggest names in politics, foreign dignitaries, actors and actresses, well known and aspiring designers and TV and movie studios. They are not 1-time customers but rather repeat business for which I am very humbled and thankful. As I have mentioned the work I perform is done to the very best of my ability and I have been performing this work the better part of my life; and have never had a complaint in all my many years in business. I listen to the constructive criticism I receive from my clients and always make changes accordingly when necessary. [redacted] and I parted ways after all of her work was completed and she was 100% satisfied; which is why I was so surprised and saddened to receive this complaint. Since receiving this complaint, I have done some research and found that [redacted] has made complaints about many other local businesses. It is apparent that [redacted] makes these complaints in an effort to extort free goods and services from honest and caring business owners. Please do not allow [redacted] to tarnish the good names of hard working people in this or any community. It is simply not warranted. This complaint should be dismissed and any and all complaints filed by [redacted] should be carefully scrutinized for their validity. I thank you for your time in listening to my side of this story. I pray for [redacted] that she will find peace and no longer file false claims against people. I hope the information I provided sheds light on what truly happened and I hope to resolve this matter as quickly as possible. Sincerely, Uriel’s Shoe Repair
