The customer dropped off a gold stretchy fabric dress for dry cleaning on January 31, The manufacturer's care label, which is affixed to the garment, has a symbol to "dry clean" and a symbol "not to wash." We followed the care label and dry cleaned the dress In dry cleaning
the garment is fully immersed in dry cleaning solvent in a bin The bin tumbles during cleaning, extraction, and drying The garment is then removed from the bin, pressed, and returned to the store for the customer to pick up.
On February 4, 2016, at pick up the customer immediately noticed there had been a change in the color of the dress from a gold to a light pinkThe cleaning charge of $was voided due to the issue with the color, as we understand it was upsetting for the customer to see a problem after dry cleaning.
The dress was sent back to the Plant/OfficeI returned the dress on February 8, with a letter explaining the Federal Trade Commission law that a manufacturer is responsible to affix a care label recommending a safe care method for the consumer and the cleaners If the recommended cleaning method is followed and the garment isn't wearable, or didn't withstand the cleaning, it is the responsibility of the manufacturer, not the dry cleaners At drop off the dress was noted as gold, but after dry cleaning the dress and the threads used to assemble the dress are both a light pink color It appears that a gold dye was applied to the pink fabric and the gold dye was soluble in dry cleaning solvent Customer was advised to return the dress to the place of purchase for satisfaction International *** *** brochures were also enclosed explaining a manufacturer's responsibility and a consumer's rights regarding care labeling(2/8/letter attached.)
Customer's mother called to contest the letter, saying they called the place of purchase and was told the retailer hadn't had a problem with the $dress It was decided we'd send the dress to ADCO Laboratory, an independent laboratory, asking them to determine the cause of the color changeThe report states: dry cleaning was recommend; at this time there isn't an indication that the dress was gold; there is evidence of perspiration because of the sodium chlorides on the underarm areas; there are darker staining substances that are oxidizing, but no evidence of mildew
The laboratory's determination is that there is no evidence of mishandling in the care process and if the garment did in fact change from gold to pink the dress should be returned to the place of purchase for compensation (3/14/analysis report attached.)

The student initially
submitted her application to the university on Sept16. When
she
initially applied, there was a problem with the *** application and her
application indicated that she was applying for the Fall term. The student contacted the office and this was corrected on Sept
In completing the application,
the student indicated that she attended *** *** ** *** and ***
*** ***. During the evaluation of her application it was
discovered that the student also attended *** *** ***.
(This was indicated by the transfer credit that had been awarded from *** *** by *** *** ***.) This rendered the application
incomplete. At this time, the student was contacted and asked to
submit an official transcript from *** *** ***. To date,
we have not received the *** *** *** transcript.
In an effort to ensure that the
document had not been misplaced by the Office of Admissions, the
Records Office at *** *** *** was contacted in order to confirm
that a transcript had indeed been sent to the university. Per *** *** ***, *** *** ***, the student has not requested a
transcript since 2008. The transcript requested at that time was not sent
to the university
At this time a request for the refund of the application fee has not been received. The application
indicates that this fee is nonrefundable and that the applicant must provide an
official transcript from all of the institutions that they have previously
attended

We sincerely appreciate your patience as we working to
provide responses to numerous students
regarding Tuition Surcharge calculations
for spring 2014. I have carefully reviewed your student record and
determined that you were correctly accessed the tuition surcharge for spring
2014, based upon your current registration status. In December 17,
you were awarded the BSN Nursing degree. However in spring you
self-enrolled in semester hours and as a result was accessed the tuition
surcharge. Further, you are enrolled as a first degree seeking
“Continuing” student and not enrolled as a second-degree or master’s
degree-seeking studentIn order to remedy this situation, you must drop from
spring course enrollment and apply to the university as second degree
seeking or as master’s degree seeking. The tuition surcharge will be
removed as well
It also appears that you inadvertently received federal
financial aid as well as a refund for spring tuition. Please note
that I included *** ***, Director of Financial Aid on this
communique. *** *** will research and determine if any of the funds
received by you for spring must be returned to financial, state, or institution
aid programs
Respectfully,
***

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
It was not until I filed my complaint with the Revdex.com that I heard anything from this university since November 7th. I received an email saying that my transcipt for CCC was missing. It was my error that I had completely forgotten that I had taken a few classes there well over 15 years ago. The e-mail informed me that the deadline was in two days and I would have to pay another application fee. (They have had my application since September)
It seems that this university has spent more time arguing and placing the blame on me than accepting responsibilty for their unorganized mess they call an admissions office.
If their RN-BSN program is as unorganized as their admissions office, I  am happy that I will not be attending.
The University of North Carolina had absolutely no problem with my application.

Ms. [redacted], a first time customer, dropped off a 2 piece lady's suit ([redacted] jacket and skirt) for dry cleaning at the Young Laundry & Drycleaning at Windward City Shopping Center on 6/23/15.  At the time of drop off the Counter Consultant didn't make a notation on the ticket about...

any visible stains or flaws.
The first week of July I received a note and the 2 piece suit from the Windward store saying Ms. [redacted] called the Windward store asking to speak to a manager regarding her damaged clothes and that she had called 4x before.  I have no knowledge or record of prior calls.  After reviewing the ticket and examining the 2 piece suit I called Ms. [redacted] to discuss.  I explained that the white spots on the right front panels and cuffs of the jacket appeared to me to be "color loss," and based on the location was probably due to spillage of a substance during consumer wear and/or storage.  There were also a few snags or protruding fibers on the right panels.  I explained that I had asked my Seamstress if she would be able to fix the snags, but she said not on a tight weave, like this fabric, which is 56% Cotton, 41% [redacted] and 3% Spandex.
Ms. [redacted] disagreed with my explanation.  In an effort to resolve the disagreement and explain the damage, I offered to mail the jacket to the [redacted] Garment Analysis Laboratory, on the mainland, for an independent determination as to the cause of the white spots and snags.
The [redacted] Garment Analysis Laboratory report, which I emailed to Ms. [redacted], stated that:
"...under UV lighting we noted a staining substance on the front right panels and cuffs.  These substances appear darker under the lighting which shows they belong to the tannin group of substances such a soda beverages, coffee, tea, beer, wine, fruit juices and foods.  These substances can be invisible to the naked eye when they come in contact with the garment but over a period of time they began to deteriorate the fibers and dyes.  During the care process (cleaning) the garment is subjected to heat which causes an acceleration of a chemical reaction making the substance become visible.  Our inspection of the garment under our microscope shows broken fibers from physical stress during wear.  During the care process the garment is subjected to mechanical action which further stresses the damaged broken fibers making them appear as unwoven fibers (snags).
The care process is a total immersion process.  During this process the entire garment receives the same treatment so it would not cause this type of local fiber damage and color loss.  The condition of the garment is not due to the care process but from the users wear and care of the garment.  We can find no evidence to suggest that the garment was mishandled in the care process."
Anytime there is noticeable damage to a garment after the cleaning process we look at three possible causes:  the manufacturer, consumer or the dry cleaner.  In this case it was independently determined the cause was due to consumer wear or storage.
We understand it's upsetting to a customer to notice damage after the cleaning process and we try our very best to be fair.  In an effort to maintain good customer relations we will agree to pay Ms. [redacted] $100 for her 2 piece suit.
Sincerely,
Theresa P[redacted]

Good afternoon:
This is in response to the
complaint from [redacted].  For the 2015-16 Ms. [redacted] had to
complete a request for dependency override, which if...

approved allows for a
student to be considered independent for financial aid purposes. The Dependency
override procedure requires that the student complete verification of financial
and household data items on the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA).
Ms. [redacted] submitted documents for dependency override  and after
review of the documents she was granted a dependency override.

On May  28, 2015, Ms.
[redacted] sent an email to a financial aid counselor.  The counselor
reviewed the financial aid record and awarded the student for the 2015-16
award-year.  The financial aid will be modified to include the student’s
Provost Scholarship later in the summer, but prior to the beginning of the fall
term (August 17).  The counselor responded to the student’s questions
about her award for 2015-16.

Subject: Response to Complaint #[redacted] - [redacted]
Hello
This email is in response to [redacted]'s rejection of our original response.
In [redacted]'s response she indicates that she did not submit a transcript from [redacted] because her "missing documents" correspondence does not indicate that this was one of the documents needed.  To clarify, the letter does not include the [redacted] because [redacted] did not indicate that she attended this school on her application.  All letters that are generated on behalf of the Office of Admissions are generated based on the information that is included in BANNER per the student's application.  It was during the manual review of her [redacted] that we discovered that she had transfer credit awarded from [redacted].  It was at this time that it was determined that the [redacted] was needed.  It is the standard practice of the admission counselor that is responsible for this population to contact the student either by phone or email, to request the additional documents.
At the time of the application, we were willing to accept the submission of the transcript in order to complete the file in time for the Spring 2014 term.  However, all applicants sign the application indicating their understanding that their "failure to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information on this application will be grounds to deny or withdraw my admission, or dismiss me after enrollment".  [redacted] signed the application, knowingly excluding information regarding her enrollment at [redacted].  Per university policy, we should have denied her application for admission.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank you.

I am a student at Winston Salem State University. This is my last year as a psychology major at this college. I have a complaint to make with this college if it don't work for me I hope that it works for other students who may attend. I was born in NC but I had to move to GA because of my parents. August 2011 I had started attending WSSU at that time I was consider a out of state student but in 2012 I moved in with my sister. I had my voters registration in 2012 and I was living at my sister address since 2012 and I still do. I did not get a vehicle until 2015 so I was not able to get my license or my registration until November 2015 I have my car insurance life insurance everything is in NC. I tried to become in state in 2012 but, a financial aid rep stated that I had to use my father taxes who was living in GA. I applied to become a in state resident in Spring 2016 I was denied. I applied for summer 2016 and I never got a letter. When I talked with the registrar office they claimed that they had forgot to put the apartment number on the letter and it was returned to them. But they never got in touch with me to let me know that information and when I continued to contact them they did not talk or email me until the last minute. The director of the registrar office finally decided to talk with me and stated that my information did not add up with me being a in state residence. So they denied me for summer 2016. I would have been okay with that but, the ironic thing is two colleges considered me as a in state resident of NC. University of North Carolina- Wilmington that I applied to for summer 2016 to take a few classes considered me as a in state residence I gave them the same information I gave Winston Salem State. I applied to attend East Carolina University in the Spring of 2017 and they also considered me as a in state student and I gave them the same information as well. So I am still confused about Winston Salem State not classifying me as a in state residence. The second complaint is adding all of the fees. Winston Salem State told me I could not live in their off campus housing because I did not have 12 credit hours. I only needed 3 credit hours to graduate this fall 2016. So they told me I could not live there so I left. They turned around and charged me $510.00 for a residence hall fee and then turned around and charged me $250 for cancellation fee. They are so quick to add money on my account but they still have not updated the money that I already have paid as well as they have not took off the schools insurance fee that I have waived months ago because I have my own insurance. I know that this might not be serious and it might be okay for Winston to do this but I do feel that it is not fair and it might not be able to help me but, I want to make sure I could help other students who are out of state. Thank you!

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 15, 2014/09/09) */
On July 28, 2014 Ms. [redacted] dropped off 10 blouses for cleaning at our Waikiki location, 4 of which were silk.
At the time of drop off Ms. [redacted] informed the Counter Person about the underarm perspiration stains and the...

Counter Person called it to the attention of the Cleaners.
Ms. [redacted] picked up her 10 blouses on 8/1/14 and paid $73.65 by credit card. On 8/4/14 Ms. [redacted] returned with 4 blouses and asked that they they be recleaned, which in our terms is a Do-Over, at no charge in an attempt to safely remove the staining. On 8/7, Ms. [redacted] came to pick up, but saw that the white silk sleeveless blouse had tears in the fabric in the underarm area. Ms. [redacted] contacted the Supervisor, [redacted], and [redacted] attempted to return Ms. [redacted]'s call. [redacted] left messages on the phone number that we have in our records. She didn't hear back from Ms. [redacted] so she attached a letter to the order, explaining how this type of damage, weakening and tearing, can occur to silk fabric, or any fabric, after exposure to chloride salts, which are contained in perspiration and anti-perspirants. I'm told [redacted]'s letter, dated 8/11/14 was not seen by Ms. [redacted] and is at the store attached to Ms. [redacted]'s cleaning order.
The damage isn't the result of negligence in cleaning, but a result of exposure to chloride salts during customer wear. We are sorry that Ms. [redacted] is dissatisfied and in the interest of customer good will, we will refund her credit card for the $73.65 that she paid for the cleaning.
Sincerely,

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 17, 2014/09/15) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
[redacted] did not attempt to call me nor left messages on my cell phone. No missed calls were displayed. I immediately called [redacted] after hearing from the counter person that she called me. I called [redacted] numerous times and left 2 messages. In which, she never tried to return. [redacted] could have called me informing that she left a note if she hadn't heard from me. This illustrates poor customer service and poor managerial skills.
I understand I will be refunded in full amount. However, no efforts were made to fix the tears of the blouses. I will not be returning to Young's laundry due to poor customer service from [redacted] and lack of communication.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]
Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Below is a copy of the letter that I received on November 7, 2013. It does not ask for a transcript from [redacted]. It asks for [redacted] and [redacted], which I then submitted for the second time.  I made several phone calls to try to find out my status but never received a return call. I even e-mailed the head of the RN-BSN department, [redacted], in December.  I never received a reply from her either.
The copy of the letter below states that I can check the status of my application by using the Banner ID number listed online. This number was never entered into the system as a valid ID number.  I was never able to log into the system.
I understand the no refund policy, however, I have made numerous attempts to contact the University for a status update. Never one time did anyone return my call, email me, of notify me by mail of anything, much less needing another transcript.
