Dear Revdex.com,
I find this type of complaint to not only be defamatory but
borderline extortion in nature.
First off, the original “mistake” was a 5 ¼” area that was
not polished. The simple solution was...

to polish the piece. Not a very time
consuming endeavor, ½ hour.  Because the
homeowner came after normal fabrication hours we could not polish it at time of
pick up. The homeowner chose to leave the piece and to install the other 3
pieces, which were perfect. The pieces were installed by the “homeowner” not a
“professional installer” and subsequently the homeowner broke one of the pieces.
This is what is referred to in the complaint as a “subsequent piece”. They
broke the piece. They had to re-purchase the piece - which they were very
unhappy about. Now, this takes time to re-cut and re-fabricate and was done as
a priority but an obvious delay none the less. None of this was mentioned in
the complaint. I wonder why? These are the pit falls of the “do it yourself”
consumer. This piece, known as a saddle or threshold, goes on the floor in a
doorway “after” tile installation to transition between two floors. We cut the
piece at 1 ¼” and we had to re-cut the piece at ¾”. After speaking with my
manager and hearing the details of the situation, I authorized a 10% refund to
be sent via check this morning, which I think is fair, only to find this Revdex.com
complaint in my in box.
 These items in the “professional
installation world” are small details in the big picture of a bathroom remodel
and are not the end of the world as stated in the complaint and would not have
caused any significant delay if done by a professional.
 Although I find this
complaint unwarranted and egregious I will stand by the aforementioned resolve.
If not accepted and retracted, I am more than prepared to seek legal action for
defamation of character.
Sincerely,
Robert H. Basar

This was our third and final experience with US Granite. We were replacing floor tiles in part of our main floor and since we had been satisfied with US Granite in the past, we decided to use them for our latest project. Everything except the installation (done by a contractor of US Granite) went wrong. My email with measurements was held in the salesperson's junk mail for a week. Installation date was changed. On the new installation date we were never notified that installation would not occur on that date, either. When installation began, we discovered that the wrong tile had been delivered. Finally, installation was done over the course of 10 nights with the installers staying past 11PM on some nights.
The final straw was when I insisted to talk to the owner before making my final payment to make him aware of my dissatisfaction with the handling of the order. When the owner called me, he wound up screaming at me on the phone to such an extent that I had to hang up on him. (Hardly appropriate behavior for a business owner.)
I wound up paying $230 less for the $5600 job as a result of my dissatisfaction. Since the money aspect of this was not my primary concern, I let the matter close with that. However, others should know that when dealing with this company Murphy's Law is very likely to apply.

Review: On May 12, I ordered pieces of granite to be cut to specific dimensions for a bathroom projectOn May 17, I picked up said pieces and noticed that one piece which was supposed to have polished edges only had polished edgesThis meant I had to leave the piece there to be fixedI had to order a subsequent piece at that time, as wellOn May 21, I picked up the piece that needed fixing and the additional piece I orderedOnce I arrived home I realized the additional piece was not cut to the measurements I specifiedAt this point I was more than frustratedI called US Granite and advised them of yet another mistake made with the cuts - I also asked if there was anything they could do about the cost since this is now mistakes they have made setting me back over a week in remodel timeThey said they would get back to meNever didOn May 23, I went in to have the piece cut correctly and again asked about the costI was told they needed to talk to a "boss" and would get back to meIt is now May 28, and I have not heard a word from these peopleI called them today and was told no one was around to make that decisionAt this point I am beyond frustrated and would never recommend anyone buy their granite/marble from here.Desired Settlement: I would like a price reduction or a refund for the pieces that were done incorrectly

Review: On Feb. 22, 2014, we bought granite kitchen counter tops from US Granite, Inc. in Danbury, Connecticut. After installation on March 31, 2014, we noticed that an edge of the center island countertop did not match the rest of the granite - it was discolored. We notified US Granite and they told us that a piece of the granite was broken off during fabrication and apoxy was used as a repair. US Granite sent a workman to inspect the damage. He said that the repair was not done correctly. He removed the poorly repaired piece, re-apoxied the granite and painted it to match the rest of the countertop. A few days later we noticed the paint had worn off the repaired piece. The apoxy again did not match the countertop and the discoloration was visible. We notified US Granite and asked that they replace the center island counter top. The told us that could not do that and offered no other solution. We feel deceived that the damage was never revealed to us and the counter top was installed without our knowledge of the repair. We paid in full for an undamaged product and we should have received the granite without any repairs.Desired Settlement: The center island should be replaced with a new, undamaged piece of granite.
