The customer has not allow US Green to take care of those minors fixes for selfish reasons of obtaining a new roof for free and to damage US Green's reputationIn Parra report he found several leaks that were in areas where US GREEN never worked causing further doubt that US GREEN caused the leak as started by customer.
Parra is a trusted independent third party with the correct license(C-39) and has been in business since Parra has the experience with over 20,000 inspections to assess the situation
The customer did not like the fact that the report found only minor fixes that both parties knew existed beforehand, nothing else was found to be damaged
or not up to building codes.The customer wants to use still another inspector which does not have a Croofing license to help
him achieve his goal which was all along to get a new roof for freeThe customer has a year old roof with dips all over and at least leaks that Parra identified that were not caused by US GREEN
and dry rot damage that could not be caused by US GREEN since the installation was in December .
US GREEN completed the following;

We have been incredibly happy with the service and products we have from US Green We have: solar, the whole house fan, artificial turf, and the water conservation device The solar was incredibly easy to finance and we received a nice federal tax refund We send almost nothing to SDG&E each month, only what we use in gas The best part is that US Green continues to track our solar production; it’s been four years since installation and we continue to receive phone calls and emails with updates Now that is customer service! We love our turf in both the front and back yards No more watering or mowing and it looks beautiful every day! We have a dog, but the turf is easy to maintain; twice a year we put down new absorbent No odor! The whole house fan is a great way to air-out the upstairs We simply open windows on both sides of the house and turn on the fan It silently and quickly works to pull in cool, fresh air We use it throughout the year When we did have a small problem, US Green sent a representative right away We find they are easy to contact and quick to help We would highly recommend US Green for any of your solar and turf needs

I have also attached copies of estimates from two roofing contractors ranging in cost from $to $10,This work will repair the buidling code issues and complete the work not done by US GreenGiven that US Green is not a C-roofing contarctor and damaged our roof during both installations, we will not allow them to perfrom any more work on our roof
Based upon the work detailed in the estimates and the findings in the Suretec report it is very obvious to me that US Green did not have the competencies to perform the work
Finally, in regards to the rebate fundsWe are not attempting to steal themRather, we put a hold on these funds and have not remitted to US Green final paymnet given the fact that our roof has been signficantly damaged by US GreenFurthermore, as stated earlier, US Green will not recognize that they are responsible for the damage, that wrong materials were used and that the terms of the contarct were not followedUntil these issues are reolved we will not be remitting any funds to them

significant portions of my roof. Not
only did this damage lead to water penetration into my home, it also impacted a
significant area of my roof and altered
the look of my roof which may impact the value of my home.
The tone of US Green’s response is very indicative of their
conduct during the two installations of my solar system. They reluctantly accepted
responsibility for damage caused by
them, they deflected their responsibility
by bringing up unrelated issues, i.e. a dip in roof becomes many, dry
rot in one small area becomes extensive and was not an issue until they walked
on roof in this area without authorization. An area, that was completely out of
the scope of their work. Furthermore, when brought to their attention, their
employee told my wife that they knew what they were doing and to mind my own
business.
Due their poor workmanship and disregard for
building codes/ practices they had to remove and re-install the system.
Specifically the mounting system used was not designed
for my type of roof tiles. In addition, there were no steps taken to ensure
that areas around mounts were water tight. Multiple inspections and roofers
have stated that original installation was not done to building codes and
standard building practices. This is why US Green removed solar panels, tiles
and roofing underlayment and re-roofed the area and re-installed the solar system.
Note, this was only initiated after I pressed them for five weeks to resolve
this issue.
Unfortunately, during the second installation despite their
assurance that the workmanship would be acceptable. Again, they caused significant damage and breached our contract by 1)not allowing all
inspections to be performed, 2)used material( roof tiles) not approved and the weight not engineered
for the roof structure 3) walked on roof
in areas not necessary breaking even more tiles and 4) did not follow precautions to limit damage
to my roof despite being told to me in
writing that this would not be an issue during second installation. Again their work was unsatisfactory, they left
broken tiles, left caulked tile, tiles were not spaced properly(nails showing)
and did not lay and or adhere tiles correctly.
As previously cited, throughout this process US Green has
been very difficult to work with. Unless pressed they do not accept responsibility
for their actions, they damaged the gutter with their ladders and denied it;
they will agree to items and then not follow through or argue with you to
accept material or process not appropriate or to building code. They have never offered to repair the water stains
on my ceiling in the interior of my home.
And due to their poor
management of the two installations, portions of my roof have had tiles removed
and installed twice and the most recent not approved tiles are not engineered
for my roof. Therefore they will have to be removed and correct tiles installed.
The three removals and installation of tiles has severely impacted the
integrity of the roof. This issue was brought to their attention and ignored.
US Green states that Parra performed a full
inspection of the roof. This is simply not true, Parra Building
Consultants performed a cursory water test, they did not perform a complete
roof inspection. I was told this by
Dennis Parra, the inspector. No full report inspection report has been issued
even though US Green stated in writing that a inspections would be performed. Furthermore,
there are significant portions of the underside of roof that Parra could not
examine as they are not accessible. In reference to water stains in the attic,
the home is over thirty years old, there is no way to determine when the leaks
occurred. In the areas damaged by US
Green there have been no leaks since the new roof was installed in 2000. Again,
this is an example of US Green deflecting responsibility.
Most, if not all these issues could have been avoided if US
Green would of managed the first
installation correctly by following standard building practices and
precautions.
In regards to monies owed, give that US Green breached
contract and did not satisfactorily complete the work I will not pay them monies owed until this matter is
resolved. Please note, the amount they stated is in incorrect, the balance owed
by me is $4641.63 This is significantly less them $7000, again an example of
their poor management.
Given their track record of unsatisfactory performance, disregard to
our agreements, deceitful actions and unwillingness to accept responsibility, I
am not willing to have them perform any work on my roof, they don’t know what
they are doing, I can’t trust them!
At this point in time, I have filed complaints with the contractors
board and US Green’s Bond Company. The bond company has performed an inspection,
I am awaiting their report. The State Contractor's Board has referred the
complaint to an outside inspection/investigator. An appointment is in the process of being scheduled.
I will wait the outcome of these investigations to determine what additional
action may be taken.
