US Power Movers Reviews (%countItem)

On December 15th 2019 we hired Best movers moving company to move our house. They have arrived at 8:45 and left at 2:45 . While they were carrying the refrigerator, they broke the side of the stairs and we can not get our deposit back because of them. I took pictures of the damaged stairs and sent them vie text message and email, they did not return those messages. They also refused assembling the refrigerator doors after unloading ( they were the ones who disassembled) While we try to asemble by ourselves, we found out that they lost an important pallet in order to assemble one of the doors. And we can not find a replacement for that. We are unable to use our refrigerator because if them. They were suppose to assemble everyhthing they disassmbled upon unloading but they failed to do so. Also, they were suppose to repair or pay for the damage they caused. They obviously not even responding our complaints. Our initial agreemnet was 560 for 5 hours and each extra our would be $100. They stayed 6 hours but charged us $760. They refused unloading the truck unless we give them the money they are asking for. And after unloading, they left without reassemling the stuff because they had another moving job to do.

I was quoted a price by this mover based on an hourly rate. The mover took four hours to move 13 pieces of lightweight furniture and about 5 boxes out of my apartment (with an elevator). The estimated time was six hours of work, including travel time, but these mover went incredibly slowly. One was in my bathroom for 20 minutes. They took multiple cigarette breaks and didn’t seem to be in any rush to get the job completed. Of the three, one guy did most of the work while the other two stood around on their phones. The move was minimal and at most, it shouldn’t have taken more than 3 hours to move the furniture out of my apartment. I was then charged an additional hour and a half of labor because they were so slow, but was told over the phone that “if he and his men were moving slow that day, then that’s how it went”. But, it seemed intentionally slow.
They broke my desk and claimed that the desk was already broken. They said that if I wanted to move it anyway, they’d charge me for an additional 45 minutes. So the desk had to be thrown out.
During the initial conversations with the owner, Alex, I fully informed him that we just had new hardwood floors installed and to please be careful with the move. They dropped things on the ground, scratched and scuffed my floors and when I asked them to please be careful, Alex threatened me by saying he’d charge me more if I wanted them to move the furniture more carefully.
When I called him to complain (about 30 minutes after he left) he didn’t answer his phone. I called again but didn’t reach him for two days where he was very rude and hung up on me. He was hostile and said if I sent him pictures of the damage, he’d send it to his insurance company and an adjuster would come out to determine the damage but that he wouldn’t be refunding me any money. This guy is a total scam, and incredibly hostile and threatening. Nothing he said the day of or afterwards made any sense and I was always given a run around.

I contracted BEST MOVERS NJ TEAM to move from *** to ***. When the movers arrived, they demanded I pay the full amount for the move in cash. When I explained that I could not do that, and that I had no idea that I would need cash they were very upset and told me "It's not that much money just go to the atm." I'm sorry, but that is completely unacceptable, $700 is a large amount of money and to be expected to produce that without prior notice is completely unacceptable. I told them that this was not an option and that I had expected to pay with my card, as I had paid the deposit with my card, and had not been told about the cash. They then packed my apartment and processed my payment through ***.

The real trouble started when we arrived at the new apartment. When we arrived and they saw where they had to park and that they needed to bring everything up to the 3rd floor, they demanded that they would need to extend my contract by 2 hours. However they could not do that because they were bound by the existing contact and to start a new one would mean paying a minimum of 5 hours. They demanded I pay $300 cash for the additional 2 hours, or they would not move my things in. I was forced to pay $300 cash on top of the $768.75 (which I was quoted) to have my things moved in. I would like to add that I was quoted for 5 hours. Even with the distance and travel that whole move took less then the quoted 5 hours. I have contacted the company and they are denying I paid the extra 300 dollars and are refusing to give me a refund.

I have a friend that was with me the whole time and saw the interaction.

Federal and state laws require that a moving company allow you to file a claim when damage has been caused by their company. However, this is not the case with Best Movers. I scheduled a move with Best Movers in Marlboro on August 29, 2018. They arrived on time and everything seemed great initially. However, damage occurred during the move and while they moved my items into my new home. I just had floors refinished and it was cleared by the moving company to move furniture in. I had moving blankets all over the floors and told them to please be careful. One mover was moving my dressers alone by leaning the furniture on one side and shifting them around the room. This was done over a moving blanket but I suddenly saw scratches forming on the floors from the weight of the furniture! I told him to stop and that's he saw what he was doing. He apologized and said he was using a blanket, but I had to ask him to no longer move furniture alone. Another mover dropped a dresser on my kitchen floor and scratched it. My general contractor was at the house for both instances so he also witnessed the damage. He immediately contacted the flooring company by text and informed them that the movers had scratched the floors in the master bedroom. I have a copy of the dated/time stamped text. Also, I wasn't able to open my dryer door. When I asked about it, a mover forcefully pulled on the door and broke the latch! Now I can't close the door! And the worst one of them all, I told them that the only important piece of furniture was my mothers antique. After they left, I found it in my garage in pieces!!! I contacted the company and Alex (not sure if he's the owner or manager) won't respond to my messages anymore and won't send me a claim form. He said he's not responsible for scratches since I didn't report it on the day of the move. But I reported it instantly to the movers as it was happening and have verification that the flooring company was contacted because of this damage.

I would like to file a complaint against the moving company named Best Movers NJ, Inc (also called US Power Movers - located at *** On Friday, September 15, I contacted Best Movers NJ to get an estimate to move my belongings from my apartment in Cranford, NJ to my new house in Warren, NJ. I spoke to Stacey on the phone to get information about availability and pricing. Stacey sent me an email with a rough estimate, which says, “The price will be based on the hourly rate of $115/hour including 3 professional movers and truck. If your move takes 7 hours then the moving cost is $805 for labor. Please keep in mind that if your move takes less or more time, then your moving price will be adjusted accordingly. The minimum job is 5 hours for labor (see entire email below.” She also asked me if I would need my belongings packed for a cost of $150 in packing materials, and I said no because I already had my things in boxes. She said that blankets around my furniture are included in the price. I told Stacey over the phone that I have a small apartment, and it should probably only take 4-5 hours to move everything. She then explained again that I only have to pay for the hours that they are there, and the email estimate is not the accurate amount since we would only know the actual time frame the day of the move. I called Stacey back and asked her if travel time is included in the price, and she said yes. I agreed to the terms we discussed over the phone and then sent her a $150 (plus $11 fee) deposit through Paypal.

On the day of the move (Sunday, September 17), the movers arrived at 9:00am and had me sign an incomplete invoice (without any pricing, amounts, etc.) that just said the time they arrived.

They started loading up the truck with my belongings, and then they started wrapping blankets with tape and saran wrap around my dressers so the drawers wouldn’t open while they moved them. They never asked about using these materials or mentioned any costs. I assumed that was part of the included blanket price Stacey mentioned. They were able to get everything in the truck within 2.5 hours (leaving at 11:30). When we arrived in Warren, before they started unloading the truck, the mover approached me with a completed invoice that had my signature, but he added all the costs only after I signed it, which wasn’t the price I had agreed to over the phone with Stacey. The invoice had six hours (even though it only ended up only taking 5 hours to pack, travel, and unpack) and they added $115 for travel time and $150 for packing materials, which I never approved or knew would be charged for. Stacey made it seem as though the $150 would be if they packed my things in boxes. They wanted a total of $955 (minus the $150 deposit I had already made). By this time, it was only 12:15, and his coworkers started moving our belongings in the house. My husband and I began to dispute these charges, explaining that they don’t know yet if it will take 6 hours, considering it only took 3 hours to load the truck and travel to Warren. We also were disputing the travel and packing materials because we never authorized that and were under the impression that they were included in the price of $115/hour. They offered to reduce the price by $50, but we felt like we were being taken advantage of, and said that we shouldn’t be charged for hours that haven’t been completed or materials we didn’t approve of. They then closed the truck, and stopped moving the things inside. They called their boss, and my husband spoke to him. He refused to listen to our side, becoming hostile and then saying he would charge us an additional hour.

Out of principle and concerned that our belongings were being held hostage in the truck, we decided to contact the local police. They arrived and listened to both sides, but explained that they had no authority for this matter, so we would need to pay the amount and then later take the matter to small claims court and/or file with the Revdex.com. After the time spent with the police, an hour was wasted. The movers then started moving the rest of our things into the house and finished at 3:00. If deducting the hour lost with the police, the entire move, including travel, loading, and unloading, only took 5 hours. We ended up paying $755 (because they only deducted $50) plus the $150 Paypal deposit. In reality, we should have only paid a total of $575.

I texted Stacey the next day voicing my issue with the misleading costs and also said I would be filing a complaint with the Revdex.com. She never responded.

Thank you,
*** P.S. Here is the copy of the rough invoice email she sent me:
