Review: Two men selling meat and poultry from an SUV arrived at my house. A man stating he was "Mike Lucas" began opening boxes and showing me steaks and chicken. He gave me his card and a brochure from "U.S.A. Gourmet." One man remained in the running vehicle. After his presentation of meat, I advised Mr. Lucas that I was not interested and would not be buying anything today. Mr. Lucas became irrate stating I was wasting his time and began cursing. I clarified that he was on my property and this was inappropriate. Mr. Lucas began calling me foul names and slamming the boxes of meat down on the ground into a larger box. I went to the man that was still in the vehicle. Mr. Lucas had described him as the "owner of the company." I asked if that is who he was and he confirmed the same. I told him that I advised Mr. Lucas that I wasn't going to purchase anything and that he began cursing. I told him that they need to get off of my property or I would call the police. The man in the vehicle that they would leave right away. I advised him that he had three minutes to get off of my property and to never return. Mr. Lucas continued with his vulgarity while picking up his meat products to leave.Desired Settlement: I am warning all those people I can contact of this business. I would like to see this company out of business, but at the very least I would like this documented for others to see and a written apology from Mr. Lucas. They need to understand that they are to never come on my property again as well.

Review: A man came to my door and announced that someone in my apt. complex had ordered meat but was not home so he wanted to sell meat cheap because it was frozen and he couldn't keep it. (A LIE) In his presentation ( very high pressure) he claimed the meat was from [redacted] steaks. (LIE) At one point he claimed that the package he was offering me was $3 a steak (NOWHERE NEAR THAT AMOUNT) I asked for a business card and he reached as though he was going to give me one. Of course, I never got it. The minute they left (very quickly) I knew it was a scam. I immediately tried to contact them, but was unable. Voicemail not set up on one number. No e-mail. I checked Revdex.com and saw that they have an F rating. I called my bank and put a $30.00 stop payment on the 168.00 check I had written.Desired Settlement: I want them to come and pick up this order....it is all in the freezer and I have eaten nothing. I don't want to have to even open the door to them, so would like to leave the boxes outside at a prearranged time.

Review: On July 10,2010 I went to local Gas Station to get some gas for the mower.I was getting in my car when a man came up and said, "Madam, I bet you and your family like good meat..steaks, something like that. He said,My car is broken down and I have some meat I would like for your family to have...I said, well, what have you got? He replied, Come over here and I will show you. He showed me a box of frozen steaks which looked okay. He said he would discount them, it looked liked he had quite a lot of meat in a white cooler in the back of his SUV. When he told me the price of $700+,I said, I cannot afford that. Then he said he would discount it to $450 and throw in the chicken as well. This all happened in about ten minutes, his vehicle was being loaded, a thunderstorm came, he asked for my debit card, thankfully, I gave him my credit card, which he used to pen to scratch over the card to bill. When I got home,I had only I two boxes of meat, one of steak, one of chicken. I did try the bag of chicken fillets and found the quality to be poor. Very salty. I called my Credit Card Company early on July 11, 2013 and asked that they not honor the charge. The worker told me to "give it a day or two to post." I called the number on the brochure for U.S.A. Gourmet and got an unidentified male and I told him I wished to return the product due to the level of salt which I cannot have. I requested that he have his salesman, "[redacted]" to call me. No call came. I called back to the office later in the afternoon of the 11th, left two messages with Mary Duff's voicemail requesting a return call. None came.On July 12, I took the product over to David's garage where "[redacted]'s" vehicle was being repaired. David helped me place it in the insulated box in the back of the vehicle. David said "[redacted]" was to pick up the vehicle today. I called my credit card company to again dispute the charge on my card. That was initiated. I left another message on Mary Duff's voicemail requesting a return call Monday,7/15/2013.Desired Settlement: Complete refund of the billing to my account $486.00 plus any interest charges.

The meat is advertised to be guaranteed for tenderness, but it is extremely tough. Once removed from the package, the cut does not look like what the label states it is. The sales representative and brochure stress that there is a "full replacement guarantee," but phone calls have not been returned, and employees working at the 1600 Colorado Street location turned me away when I went there; they said that only the owner, who can be reached by phone, can deal with exchangse.

Review: On or about the last of September/October 2012 we, the [redacted] family, bought and paid for with our credit card $920.3S worth of meats from USA Gourmet. USA Gourmet is located at 1600 colorado street, salem, vA 24153. The phone number is [redacted]. lndependent contractors Chuck and Ed stated that if we bought additional items they would give us a new chest freezer. We did purchase additional products in November 2012 valued at over $2OO.OO. We paid by check. We have yet to receive the freezer. After numerous calls, at least one a week, we haven't gotten the freezer. Somet¡me in April or May, Chuck said he would give us two boxes of meats for our trouble. We said OK, but don't keep putting us off like you have been doing. Chuck has repeatedly promised that he would bring the freezer on a particular date and we have waited and he never came. My husband even saw him at [redacted] Market on 5-1-13 and asked him where our freezer was. Chuck said he would bring it on Friday 5-3-13 and again, no show. On S-15-13 we finally called and left a message and said we would take five boxes of hamburger and forget the freezer. Again no answer from Chuck. We are filing this complaint because we were promised something and never received it. I won't even go into the fact that the meat was not the top quality that they guaranteed. Thank you for your time in this matter. [redacted]

Business

Response:

Mr. Duff states he did not get the complaint, but he knows about it. It is a misunderstanding. He will contact the consumer and resolve the issue with them.

Review: They came to my home to sell meat. Led me to believe that it was steaks. It was not. It was some type of mystery meat. Freezer burnt and not sealed properly. It has to be trashed. $100 paid for the meats, there has been no reconciliation. I reported to the news.Desired Settlement: To be fully refunded my money -- $100.00.

Several weeks ago my 86 year old mother had this Company ring her doorbell. The told her that someone that lived near her was not home to get their delivery. I live across the street but was not outside when they came to her house. The said they could sell her the package at a discounted price. She lives alone and would have no way of eating ALL this meat. She told them she would call me, across the street and ask me, he said he didnt have time for that. He needed to get to bank and cash his check. I would have told her not to purchase meat. I have in the past done that and the meat was not an exceptable quality. When I got to her house she was unsure if she was TAKEN. I didn't get upset with her for spending $500, she was already beating herself up over it. I called the Company and explained the problem. He said he would contact the seller and come back to her house. Of, course no one came back and them no on answered the phone after my first call, SURPRISE!

The quality of their beef is absolutely terrible. Even the tenderloin steaks can barely be cut with a steak knife. This company should be put out of business.

We love the customer service and the products are great. Look forward to them coming back.
