When they were loading my vessel on trailer they damaged boat and trailer. Refused to provide insurance carrierI stored my boat there paid over [redacted] for storage and maintenance and it was delivered non operational. They brought back to their shop and informed me a needed another [redacted] worth of repairs. I declined and came down to pick it up and when loading on trailer their fork truck operator damaged boat and trailer. My Insurance informed me the proper way was to process claim thru their carrier and when they called the refused to provide infoDesired SettlementI would like to have them provide insurance carrier so I can file a claim to fix my boat and the trailer the damaged. I would also like to be be reimbursed for repairs that were not done or done incorrectly.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]@usamarineinc.comMy initial response to Mr. [redacted]'s complaint is that of total surprise. To recap, Mr. [redacted] has been an exceptional Customer over the years we have serviced and stored his boat. This year, the boat was run up and tested and all work performed that was requested. Upon delivery, it was noted after a short sea-trial that the motor would overheat. Due to the fact that Mr. [redacted] has been such an exceptional customer, we picked up his boat in Danvers Ma (28 ft boat / wide beam)and transported it to USA Marine for evaluation at NO CHARGE (normally $600.00). Upon inspection, it was determined the the motor overheated due to the exhaust system internally corroded (from rust and age) and was restricted. While this may allow proper running in a shop environment, it not an actual water test. We gave the Customer an estimate to do BOTH motors, and he declined stating he would do it himself. He came down with a borrowed trailer that was NOT set-up properly for this size boat and we were instructed to place it on the trailer. The winch stand was damaged (repaireable) and the gel-coat scraped AFTER the customer requested we re-positioned the boat on the trailer. This boat was put on this trailer against our recommendation. It must be noted that as such WE DID NOT CHARGE TO DO THIS SERVICE. Normally fork-truck time is $200.00 per hour, and it was occupied for 1.5 hours. Due to our goodwill on the services outlined, we feel we have gone above and beyond, and [redacted] not entertain any further negotiations. We are sorry that Mr. [redacted] feels the way he does and to be honest quite shocked. As it stands, if this is pursued further, we will ask for re-imbursement of services that total approx $1000.00. If there is a need for a Marine Surveyor to provide an un-biased opinion as to the mechanical / structural condition of the affected components, we welcome it. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)When boat was delivered I immediately called [redacted] and requested why the bottom was not painted as promised as a service in lieu of 10% discount for paying for services early as previous agreeded. He stated it should be fine and he was just trying to save me money ( already suppose to be done at no charge). Then when launching noticed the trim tab gauge didn't work ( he told me I requested opposite side to be repaired , I guess they didn't look at either gauge). Why? I paid to have the correct side repaired and the shoddy work they preformed( wires spliced and connectors installed where they would be in sea water)? When installing the batteries I noticed that all the bolts on the generator were loose. The driver tightened them. I should have refused delivery although I figured it was there and I could address the items after. I launched the boat and within two minutes the check engine warning light came on. I called the driver and advised who called [redacted] who said to return the boat to shop. They then called and first said everything was fine that they had run it for 2 hours and it was fine and maybe I picked up some debris that blocked water flow.I told them it really didn't make sense because there was smoke everywhere and temp gauge read normal. Then ten minutes later [redacted] called and said [redacted] had figured it out and sent I picture of a clogged elbow. They called the following week telling me it would be almost $10000 to fix. I checked with two other Marinas and they told me to get my boat out of there they were taking advantage of me.I checked the parts prices myself on line and they were charging me almost $2000 more then retail.Must be the repeat customer preferred pricing? Also they lost the hardware for my rear seat. The never advised me that they recommended the boat not be loaded on the trailer and as a matter a fact [redacted] was mainly invisible during the whole process, this includes the loading and after the damaged happened. I don't believe their fork truck driver is incompetent and probably doesn't even possess a hydraulics license. I will pursue further and [redacted] not be bullied by threats of bogus new charges. I request the name of there garage liability carrier so I can file a claim for damages.Final Business Response We will most certainly entertain repairing anything we did not repair correctly, or evaluate what wasn't done. The boat must be here in order for us to do so. As [redacted] knows, we have gone above and beyond for him in years past and this year is no different. It must be noted however, that the main problem is still with the Client's corroded exhaust system, and there is NO WAY to inspect or prepare for this restriction unless there is an immediate overheat in the shop where the repair was performed. In this case, there was not and only noticed under a load. Please remember that this is a 28' boat / wide beam that cannot be water tested easily, nor was there any reason to do so. As suggested in a prior response, an un-biased opinion from a Marine Surveyor would be welcome to validate our response. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The repairs have been completed by a certified mechanic. The manifolds have been replaced, the total repair was done for 50% less including reparing the items not completed by Marine usa and was done with in 5 days of pick-up. My issue is that I need the insurance carrier to file a claim which there insurance should determine what would be covered. I have damage to my hull and damage to the trailer, I also need to be reinbused for improper repairs, Please provide your insurance carrierso they can substantiate my claim and contact info for such. Thank You
