Good morning:
Spok's network is not provisioned to capture originating information (number that dials a pager number).  Please understand that it's not a matter of "not taking the time" to locate this information.  It's information that isn't captured or reported; therefore, we're...

unable to determine who/what is sending "robo calls" to this pager number.Second, we do not release/port our numbers.   As a paging carrier, we are exempt per the Federal Communications Commission (see www.fcc.gov) from number portablity.   Because we lease our numbers in blocks/ranges, we are contractually obligated to return those ranges in their entirety, which is why the FCC exempts paging carriers from portability.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.   We appreciate being given the opportunity to review and respond.

Review: 10/4/20013 call from call center saying lower credit card interest when I wouldn't give information she started cussing and calling me names. I hung up. They continued to call my home phone 5 more times. It was the same person swearing. When I called ###-###-#### or ###-###-#### I kept getting a busy signal. I called my credit card and was told don't give out information that is not a company that we use.Desired Settlement: I want to know what company these numbers belong to, the name of the company and a manager to speak to.

Response:

Dear

Thank you for informing USA Mobility that a telephone number assigned to our company was used in connection with an automated telemarketing campaign. Unfortunately, whoever is responsible for those telemarketing calls has misrepresented USA Mobility’s assigned numbers as the source of the calls, relying on an unlawful practice called “spoofing.” I want to assure you that our company, which provides paging services to hospitals, emergency responders, and other customers, had nothing to do with any telemarketing calls. In fact, our paging numbers are not technically capable of being used to place telephone calls of any kind. Such misuse of our telephone numbers violates federal law, including but not limited to the Truth in Caller ID Act and related rules promulgated by the Federal Communications Commission.

Review: 02/20/13 Called USA Mobility for a replacement pager as our pager had a blank screen. We paid $25 for overnight shipping. 02/21/13 received the new pager and it was not working so I called USA Mobility ([redacted]) and they said that the start date wasnt till the 22nd to be activated so she was going to look into changing that to the current day and never heard anything back. [redacted] called that afternoon to check and see what the status was he spoke with [redacted] and [redacted] informed him that there is no coverage in our area. 02/22/13 Called back and spoke with [redacted] and said I understand that we have no service in this area for our pager and what could we do. She had to talk to manager a couple times and for a temporary fix we did carbon copy pages to cell phone at a cost of $4.95 a month. I went on to ask her when this service was pulled from our area and why were we never notified. She could not answer that. So I asked for other options and cost and reducing our bill since we no longer could have a pager. She was unable to help me but told me about page sync and would have someone get back to me with price. I mentioned to her that we have had this service for like 20 years and have been paying $167.16 a year for a pager that we no longer had coverage in our area. 02/25/13 A [redacted] from USA Mobility called me back with prices for page sync for 2 lines of $14.45 a month. I again asked [redacted] when they pulled out and why were we not notified and he gave me the main phone # and I called and tried to talk to [redacted] but she was not available so I got [redacted]. I again asked [redacted] when they pulled out of the area and why we were never notified and what was she going to do to make this situation proper. She explained there was nothing she could do and that I should have known that our pager wasnt working and that was our fault. I passed her onto [redacted] the Superintendent here and she then ended up passing him onto her Supervisor [redacted] with still no answers or resolutions. 02/27/13 [redacted] returned [redacted]s call and agreed with our position however it is the companys policy not to issue refunds or credits as the company is still paying for airtime.Desired Settlement: We are looking for a credit since we did not have service and were unaware that we were paying for a service that we no longer were receiving.

Good morning:

In review of the customer's account, our records indicate that there have been no recent changes with coverage. The area is spotty; therefore, paging is intermittent and has been this way.

Furthermore, we rely on our customers to inform of us any problems with service. Prior to February 2013, there have been no complaints of the customer's inability to receive pages. We've offered a wireless alternative to replace paging, which was accepted and is currently being used by our customer.

As courtesy, I have issued a six month adjustment for service, which will appear on the customer's next invoice. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: A scammer from their service at area code [redacted] and phone # [redacted] calls and hangs up. Donotcall.gov can't stop these harassing calls. When calling back, You get tone follow by pause then busy signal.Desired Settlement: Stop the spammer caller from Your wireless service.

Good morning:

[redacted] is an inactive pager number that belongs to us; however, our network is not provisioned to allow out-dialed calls by pager numbers. It appears the complainant is a victim of spoofing. Spoofing refers to the ability to deceive recipients of calls into believing that they are actually being called by someone else due to what appears on a caller ID. The number that's been spoofed is a pager number that has been inactive for several years. Unfortunately, USA Mobility has no control over the number being spoofed. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact me.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: Spoofing is regulated by both phone company and federal trade commission. Usually it is out of their control, out dated pager calls after my complaint to Revdex.com , ,stops.

Regards,

Review: We stopped service because the device was not receiving texts. I then received a final invoice to pay for the pager. I purchased the pager from [redacted] in 2002, In 2006 I contacted the company because I was not always getting my texts. I sent it into them to be repaired. Received a pager back and continued to use it. Now USA Mobilty states I must pay $106.93 for a pager they sent me in 2006. I REFUSE to pay for something twice. We have attemted to deal with them directly and they are stating we need to pay for the pager or return it. I will not RETURN somethin I paid in full for. How many other people is this company ripping off? I do have email correspondence between myself and USA Mobility where we tried to resolve the issue and they refuse.Desired Settlement: I would expect them to credit my account and not expect me to double pay for something.I expect my account balance to be $0 and keep my pager.

Response:

Good morning:

USA Mobility Wireless nor any of its subsidiaries repair devices. Instead, customers are sent a replacement device. According to our records, a replacement device was shipped November 28, 2006. The attached invoice shows the complainant was only charged for shipping. Because an equipment purchase price was not charged, the pager in the complainant's possession is leased and should be returned.

As a courtesy, I have mailed a pre-paid UPS label and bubble pack for the return of the leased pager. Once the pager is received, the account will be adjusted. Until the unit is returned, there is no credit due at this time.

Please let me know if you need any additional information or have any additional concerns.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

We sent our original pager back to our service provider as instructed. It was NOT explained that we were being sent a refurbished one and that we would be charged for it once service was discontinued. USA Mobility accepted our pager, had it refurbished then resold or rented it. This is Double Dipping and in my opinion Consumer Fraud! We were never told we would be charged for the replacement as we would have opted to have it repaired locally. If USA Mobility wants the pager returned that is fine. We will return it once we receive our original pager back as we will NOT pay twice for something we only have one of! As a company USA Mobility has the responsibility to INFORM people that they WILL BE CHARGED AGAIN if they send you a replacement! Once we receive our pager we will return theirs. Thank you.

Business

Response:

USA Mobility Wireless emphathically denies the complainant's implication of "customer fraud". That statement is totally invalid and untrue. In the interest of closure, I have issued an adjustment for the equipment charge. The balance is now zero, and we consider this matter closed. The pager does not need to be returned.

Once again, we appreciate the Revdex.com allowing us the opportunity to review and respond.
