The only reason why we ever brought our Explorer to Hilltop automotive in the first place was because before we had to have the Explorer towed to a repair shop due to a simple coolant leak, we contacted AAA Membership services and AAA roadside Assistance to request a tow from AAAAAA strongly sold us on the idea of taking the Explorer to a AAA approved repair facility because they are the only ones that would protect us with guaranteed repairs and the only repair facilities that offer a year/ month warranty ***SEE HILLTOP INVOICE PAGE WITH HILLTOPS WARRANTY [redacted] that guarantees their repairs to be be proper repairs and guaranteed to be fixed correctly the first timeNathan, Damien, Arturo, and John with Hilltop Tire & Automotive all confirmed before they ever began to work on destroying our explorer that indeed they do offer this 2yr/24,WarrantyThis has confirmed by their invoice page ***Please also see AAA Warranty Documents proving that we are telling the 100% ABSOLUTE TRUTH that AAA does indeed offer this warranty for their AAA Approved shops and Hilltop is one of those shops[redacted] After speaking with [redacted] , the supervisor of the AAA Roadside Assistance Department he said he would speak to Hilltop and get everything figured out and resolvedThen, we realized that both AAA and Hilltop were playing the old game of "passing the buck" bouncing the responsibility back and forth and this isn't right or fair to usWe did our partWe brought our vehicle to Hilltop for repairs, we trusted Hilltop Tire & Automotive, we paid in full in the amount of $***SEE INVOICE Pages and 2***, and they destroyed our family vehicle, trust, and bank accountThe vehicle was towed several times, back and forth due to Hilltop's incompetence failing to fix the vehicle correctly the first timeThis utilized several of our limited amount of AAA tows allowed per yearIt was Hilltop's job and ethical duty to properly diagnose and correctly repair the coolant leakNow after talking to AAA manager [redacted] and [redacted] with AAA Roadside Repair Supervisor, they both informed me that our family is indeed entitled at minimum to the year/24,mile warranty directly from AAA & Hilltop Tire and Automotive and that it is John's responsibilityEven after I explained to both of them that our family insisted on executing our given said warranty also per advising our family attorney and the Revdex.com, everyone at Hilltop Automotive have been consistently uncooperative with even this and every other aspect of this situationOur family is beyond fed up at this pointWe are providing attached to this message the repair invoice in the amount of $as evidence to counter one of the many lies that John M [redacted] is telling, the AAA Warranty, and Hilltop's Warranty Page on back on invoice (See page 2)We herby request from Hilltop Tire and Automotive to provide the 2yr/mile warranty promisedWhat Hilltop and AAA may not know, is that we recorded several conversations had with Nathan, the way we were yelled at by the owner of Hilltop MrJohn M [redacted] , conversation with [redacted] of AAA, and [redacted] ***, Manager of AAAThese would all be provided to both the court if we need to file suit as well as we plan on going to the media and Attorney Generals OfficeWe do not need to provide anything further as this is more than sufficient documentation to win our case either with the Revdex.com and or court as we have these guys on recording telling us how Nathan the mechanic apologized, admitted destrying our engine, John, Nathan, and Damien telling us how we need to spend $3,+ more for destroying our transmissionWe also have voice messages as well stating same that we savedWe have contacted [redacted] Corporate Offices and we are in the process of sending out a packet of documentation regarding this incident of FRAUD as well. Here are just a few of the other complaints threatening law suits, etcfor engine and transmission destruction and more that other consumers are experiencingNo matter how John and the others want to spin this, THEY WILL NOT WIN! Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: John M***, not once in any of your responses have you addressed one issue within the complaint we have filed! We just get cowardly excuse after cowardly excuse from you! John, Once again we get a response filled with a lot of nothing! Not one time has Hilltop Tire & Automotive addressed the major issues that are included within the complaint! You want to take the cowardly and easy way out and just run away from the damage you caused to our ExplorerOnce again, we have looked into your reputation and many, many people are complaining about your shop and the unethical practices you are committingYou have not addressed the blatant month/24,mile WARRANTY that is found directly on the back of your invoice and provided to the Revdex.com! Do you really think that my family and I are just going to let you get away with this? The next step is really, really simpleWe have our family attorney file a lawsuit against you personally and your company Hilltop Tire & AutomotiveYou blaming the customer is a perfect example of the small segment in our population that likes to attempt to place the blame on the customer who paid you money fulfilling their end of the deal instead of accepting the fact that YOU are the one to blame! You sure had no problem taking our cash from us in the amount of $500.33! You and your mechanics and unethical and incompetent! Lets get the facts straight as they are also documented with AAA and our family are witnesses as wellWe had the vehicle towed to you immediately after we noticed a coolant leak as per AAA advising us so that most certainly DOES NOT constitute driving the vehicle in the red but nice try! We ceased driving the vehicle immediately and had it towed to your shop. The second time we brought the vehicle to you we happened to be down the street from your shop and were fortunate enough to get the vehicle to you within a 2-minute time frame after we called you to complain and notify you that you had not repaired the vehicle properly the first timeYOUR SHOP ARE THE ONES THAT ADVISED US TO DRIVE THE TRUCK TO YOU AND JUST GET IT THERE AND YOU GUYS PROMISED YOU WOULD TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING AND APOLOGIZED! Hey John, why don't you mention the fact that YOU, Damian, Nathan, Arturo ,and your crew were the ones THAT TOLD US TO DRIVE THE EXPLORER TO YOU WHEN YOU NOT ONLY FAILED TO fix the Explorer correctly but in fact destroyed our engine and transmission?! Hey John, we never had an issue with our transmission until your grease monkey Nathan put his hands on our vehicleHey John, why don't you stand by your own shops Warranty backed by AAA? John, why did you admit blame and then now are trying to blame us when all we did is everything Hilltop and AAA instructed us to do? I've dealt with a few guys like you throughout my lifetime and I know what you are aboutYou are the type of person that takes advantage of people, takes their cash, not fulfill your end of the agreement which is known as breach of contract, then you blame the customer who handed you a fist full of cash instilling their trust in you even after following YOUR OWN instructions to get the vehicle back thereYou said you would make sure the vehicle would be fixed properlyYou didn't, you FAILED! You did something even worse, you allowed your mechanic to DESTROY our engine and transmission and then now you are trying to get away with itLet me fill you in on a little secret, YOU WILL NOT GET AWAY WITH THIS, even if it means a fight in a courtroom and notifying the mediaMy family and I have had it with your nonsense excuses, your insults, your inadequacies both as a human being, a so called man, and as a business ownerYou yelled at me and my family and there is no way on earth this will be toleratedThis is the last straw, your last chanceMake this right or Monday morning our Attorney will assist us filing suit. This is not a game, this is not a joke, this is as serious as it getsIf you do not rectify this situation, we will see you in court! We have provided more than enough of all the necessary documentation to the Revdex.com and to our lawyerStop trying to buy time, stop trying to avoid the inevitableWe've had it with you John M***You're a con artist and you demean and degrade people to make yourself feel betterWe can't wait to have our day in court to look you in the eyes, to tell the judge and the media our storyAsk yourself just like I asked you the day you thought it was appropriate to yell at my family and me, how would you feel if one of my family members, friends, or me myself destroyed your engine and transmission when there was nothing wrong with it besides a simple coolant leak? You said you would be very angryGuess what? I'm very angry and not the type to back down to anyone, especially one who messes with my family and my family's vehicleOnce again, we file on MondayBall is in your courtEnjoy your weekend!

Complaint: *** I am rejecting this response because: This is a load of nonsense, continuous lies, and excuses! The vehicle was brought in to Hilltop and it was their job not mine to diagnose the vehicle brought in properly and to fix the vehicle properlyI was informed by their shop that this was a simple coolant leak, nothing moreI was assured that once the thermostat housing assembly was replaced that the vehicle would be completely fixed and operational and the shop informed me, Nathan specifically that they allowed the vehicle to run for over an hour while vehicle was still present at Hilltop including a very long test driveIt is amazing to my family and I that not once in this response filled with excuses and outright lies was it ever mentioned that Hilltop destroyed our transmission as well as our engine and they demanded $3,to replace the engine plus more money to replace the transmission that they destroyed not us! ALL WE DID WAS TRUST THEM AND BELIEVE WHAT THEY TOLD US AND WE WERE SCAMMED! The transmission was fine since ownership of the vehicleNathan, the mechanic who worked on our explorer continually apologized and said he admits that all of this is his faultHe further stated that he would be "extremely angry if this happened to him and he didn't blame me if I was upset." I told him I was going to continue to be calm, cool, and collected and asked to please just make it right and fix my truck properly this time and telling him that he should have fixed it properly the first timeNathan and Damien told me and I quote, "Oh it's okay we get people yelling at us all the time with the same issues your having with your truck." My response was, "oh really?, that's good to know." So, this happens a lot? You people must be incompetent then huh? John, you also need to get your facts straight as we have in our possession a paid invoice for $500.33, that is the correct amount, we will scan it and provide it to the Revdex.comThe only fact in this entire response from John is the fact that if this is not resolved with the Revdex.com, we have indeed contacted our family attorney who is prepared to file suit and we can fight this in courtUpon researching online, we have found many, many customers complaints regarding the EXACT SAME ISSUE! It is so typical and quite frankly blatantly obvious that you as a shop owner are always going to blame the customer when you know very well it's YOUR FAULT AND YOUR MECHANICS FAULT AS YOUR MECHANIC EVEN ADMITTED TO US! I bet if we didn't trust you enough to pay cash and paid with a credit card or check that we could have put a stop on or called our bank you wouldn't be so hard nosed about this situation would you John? Resolve this issue or we will see you in courtWe have already spoken to *** to advise the Corporate office of your illegal unethical practices along with AAAJohn, remember when I asked you how would you feel if my shop destroyed your family vehicle and you said, I would feel the same way, I would be angry too? You are a con artist and a thief! Karma is a powerful forceI will not let you get away with this, I will spend the money on attorneys if I have to instead of handing over one more cent to your incompetent shop! I will also contact the New Mexico Attorney Generals office and go to the media as well if necessary! I will provide to the Revdex.com all of the many complaints that are within your reviews online! SHAME ON YOU JOHN and NATHAN! How can you both sleep at night conning all of these innocent people who trusted and believed you both and now me? Damien, John, and AAA ALL promised A YEAR/24,MILE WARRANTY THAT THEY BREACHED! They will NOT honor this promised warranty! *** ***Refund our money and pay the $3,plus costs to replace our engine and transmission that your shop destroyed!

Rather than attempt to answer this insane multi page rant, Hilltop refers any reader to our original response to Mr. [redacted]'s complaint. He fails to accept responsibility for the fact that the damage to his vehicle was caused by him continuing to operate it without coolant. This happened before we ever saw his vehicle. The repairs made were necessary to determine the extent of damage, if any, and Mr. [redacted] was made fully aware of this. He now chooses to ignore it. This is a classic example of how a certain segment of our society tries to make bad outcomes someone elses fault.

The following information was sent from Hilltop Tire & Automotive to AAA New Mexico. It summarizes our position on this matter. TAt approximately noon on 7/14/2016 [redacted]'s 2004 Ford Explorer 4.0 L was towed into Hilltop [redacted] under the AAA program. This was the first time we...

had seen this customer and vehicle. Customer advised the service writer that the car had overheated and had been driven with the temp gauge "in the red" for about ten minutes. A work order was prepared with instructions for the technician to check the cooling system and advise. Examination showed that all the coolant had been lost due to a split thermostat housing and a severe overheat had occurred. More than likely the root cause was a failed thermostat. The customer was advised and told that no determination as to the internal condition of the engine could be made until the coolant leak was repaired. An estimate was prepared and presented to the customer in the amount of $465.69 plus tax. The repair was authorized on site by the customer and the work was performed.. It should be noted that the customer remained in the store during the entire process and observed the progress of the repairs. Repairs were completed and the car was released to the customer at 5:26 p.m. A block pressure test was performed after the repairs were completed and it showed no products of combustion in the new coolant. The customer was shown that a small rattle within the engine was present at startup. The mileage noted on the invoice was 161191. On 7/16/2016 shortly after noon the vehicle was driven into Hilltop by the customer in a severely overheated condition with coolant escaping from the degas bottle. The condition of the repairs performed on the 14'th were checked as well as the operation of the thermostat and all was in good order. A subsequent block test failed indicating that a cracked head, failed head gasket(s) or a cracked block had occured during the initial overheat. This does not show up until the vehicle is hotter than normal operating temperature. The ambient temperature at that time was 100 degrees. No further work was performed and the vehicle was left at the shop over the weekend. The mileage on the vehicle is currently 161327.Mr [redacted] was contacted by me, at his request, on 7/18/2016. He suggested that we had " ruined his engine" and that he would be engaging an attorney. I advised him of his rights to arbitration under the AAA membership agreement and suggested he contact AAA. He also asked if the cost of the repair would be refunded.and I declined. After 26 years in this business it is clear to me that the root cause of this failure was operation of the vehicle in a severely overheated condition. Without a functioning cooling system, nothing could be known about latent engine damage. The customer was advised of the potential risks and approved the repairs. The repairs were made using standard industry practices and OEM replacement parts. We are never happy when a customer sustains damage to a vehicle but cannot be responsible for collateral damage. Please advise if AAA needs further information.                John M[redacted]    Hilltop Tire and Automotive   7/19/2016ell us why here...

The
only reason why we ever brought our 2004 Explorer to Hilltop automotive in
the first place was because before we had to have the Explorer towed to a
repair shop due to a simple coolant leak, we contacted AAA Membership services
and AAA roadside Assistance to request a tow from AAA. AAA strongly
sold us on the idea of taking the Explorer to a AAA approved repair
facility because they are the only ones that would protect us with
guaranteed repairs and the only repair facilities that offer a 2 year/
24 month warranty [redacted]SEE HILLTOP INVOICE PAGE 2 WITH HILLTOPS WARRANTY[redacted] that guarantees their repairs to be be proper repairs
and guaranteed to be fixed correctly the first time. Nathan, Damien,
Arturo, and John with Hilltop Tire & Automotive all confirmed before
they ever began to work on destroying our explorer that indeed they do
offer this 2yr/24,000 Warranty. This has confirmed by their invoice page 2. [redacted]Please also see AAA Warranty Documents proving that we are telling the 100% ABSOLUTE TRUTH that AAA does indeed offer this warranty for their AAA Approved shops and Hilltop is one of those shops.[redacted] After speaking with [redacted], the
supervisor of the AAA Roadside Assistance Department he said he would
speak to Hilltop and get everything figured out and resolved. Then, we
realized that both AAA and Hilltop were playing the old game of "passing
the buck" bouncing the responsibility back and forth and this isn't
right or fair to us. We did our part. We brought our vehicle to Hilltop
for repairs, we trusted Hilltop Tire & Automotive, we paid in full
in the amount of $500.33 [redacted]SEE INVOICE Pages 1 and 2[redacted], and they destroyed our family vehicle, trust,
and bank account. The vehicle was towed several times, back and forth
due to Hilltop's incompetence failing to fix the vehicle correctly the
first time. This utilized several of our limited amount of AAA tows
allowed per year. It was Hilltop's job and ethical duty to properly
diagnose and correctly repair the coolant leak. Now after talking to AAA
manager [redacted] and [redacted] with AAA Roadside Repair
Supervisor, they both informed me that our family is indeed entitled at minimum to the 2
year/24,000 mile warranty directly from AAA & Hilltop Tire and Automotive and
that it is John's responsibility. Even after I explained to both of them
that our family insisted on executing our given said warranty also per advising our family attorney and the Revdex.com, everyone
at Hilltop Automotive have been consistently uncooperative with even
this and every other aspect of this situation. Our family is beyond fed
up at this point. We are providing attached to this message the repair invoice in the amount of
$500.33 as evidence to counter one of the many lies that John M[redacted]
is telling, the AAA Warranty, and Hilltop's Warranty Page on back on invoice (See page 2). We herby request from Hilltop Tire and Automotive to provide
the 2yr/24000 mile warranty promised. What Hilltop and AAA may not know, is that we recorded several conversations had with Nathan, the way we were yelled at by the owner of Hilltop Mr. John M[redacted], conversation with [redacted] of AAA, and [redacted], Manager of AAA. These would all be provided to both the court if we need to file suit as well as we plan on going to the media and Attorney Generals Office. We do not need to provide anything further as this is more than sufficient documentation to win our case either with the Revdex.com and or court as we have these guys on recording telling us how Nathan the mechanic apologized, admitted destrying our engine, John, Nathan, and Damien telling us how we need to spend $3,500 + more for destroying our transmission. We also have voice messages as well stating same that we saved. We have contacted [redacted] Corporate Offices and we are in the process of sending out a packet of documentation regarding this incident of FRAUD as well. Here are just a few of the other complaints threatening law suits, etc. for engine and transmission destruction and more that other consumers are experiencing. No matter how John and the others want to spin this, THEY WILL NOT WIN! We Will spend the money on our lawyer in lieu of spending money on a new engine and transmission, that is how strongly we feel about this outrageous unethical FRAUD! JOHN M[redacted] YOUR SHOP SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN!

This took 4 days.  I got my car and 30 minutes after driving off their lot the engine started shaking and smoking. I brought it right back. I immediately went to pick up my car.  When I did, I had the not so nice pleasure of talking with Aturo (spelling?) and Kent, both whom said they were in one way or another the managers.  I have to say, they treated me like I had IT written across my forehead.  They tried to tell me how my car needed close to the $1000 to run properly.  I took my car to another shop, with what Kent told me needed to be done.  After having a look at my car, on the same day mind you, they told me what I already suspected.  My car did not need the work, it needed basic maintenance, hence, the tune-up that I originally requested. The other shop went as far as to inform me that they have had more then one customer from Hilltop come to them with the same complaints.  They will lie straight through their teeth to get your money.  Kent was the rudest of the two, and I would have fired him if I were HIS boss.  [redacted]8 months ago-Short and simple. Hilltop Goodyear is a 26 year old AAA approved Napa Autocare Center with perhaps 4 or 5 Revdex.com complaints. Those complaints were resolved by sitting down with the customer to reach a mutually agreeable resolution. This is public record in Revdex.com files. In this case I choose not to meet with Mr. [redacted] as I...

am suspect of the motives of any one who chooses to record all calls with a business without their knowledge. I also take issue with his use of the term scam. After 26 years I take pride in my shop's reputation. The 2006 Dodge Charger 3.5 liter with 142654 miles was towed in with a no start condition. we found the starter and flywheel to be damaged and quoted a replacement cost of $1131.14. the work was authorized. With removal of the starter we found the motor would lock up at a certain point in the hand rotation. We advised Mr. [redacted] of this and suggested a used motor due to the mileage on the car. We also suggested we could do a partial disassembly including removal of the cylinder heads to attempt to find the problem at a cost of $800 with $400 needed as a down payment. We were authorized to begin. Upon removal of the front timing cover we discovered a broken timing belt tensioner and belt. We replaced the parts and were able to start the car for the first time. We ran the car at length in the shop with acceptable results  but chose not to road test it as the front brakes were metal to metal and the right front wheel was badly fractured. Mr. [redacted] was informed of these issues. Mr. [redacted] was charged a total of $1256.54 plus tax with his $400 down payment credited to the invoice. Thankfully Mr. [redacted] recordings document these discussions between him and the shop and I heard nothing but the actual numbers given and his subsequent approvals. The car was returned to us with the complaint of a check engine light and a misfire at idle. the misfire was not experienced under driving conditions. We did extensive electrical and internal borescope diagnostics at no charge to Mr. [redacted] and found cylinder #4 had excessive compression leakage. Visual examination with the borescope in cylinder #4 found pitting and damage to both the piston an combustion chamber. This is no doubt caused by some foreign object entering the engine. Mr. [redacted] had advised us much earlier that he had attempted to clean the throttle body and thought part of the tool had possibly broken off and entered the engine. It is my position that Mr. [redacted] was fairly charged for the work performed yet chooses not to accept the age and condition of the engine. The car did not run when he brought it in, the basic condition was repaired and the result is what it is.Should Mr. [redacted] choose to have the process and our records reviewed by someone with experience in auto repair I will fully cooperate but plan to do nothing beyond this.I would request that he remove the vehicle at his earliest convenience.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Not once did they mention that the car was brought back in for the same problem three times. After each time I was told that my car was fixed and working properly.  Also after each time I had to bring this car back within an hour of driving off their lot. Not one time after bringing  it back the first time did they tell me I needed a new engine. The only tests they ran was a diagnostics test. They said they checked my sparkplugs. They only ran tests this last time because they hired a new guy thats supposed to be the best in the business. Driving the car after they told me it was fine has probably damaged the engine more which gave them the go ahead to try and get me to buy a new engine. Now they are denying me service which is against my rights. I will be seeking legal counsel.
