USAgencies has successfully charged me twice for roadside assistance. The first time the full 6 months, the 2nd time they added it, the agent caught it before he completed the policy, the 3rd time today, the agent added it without asking if I wanted it and my card was charged. This is on my work car which is a 1998. The company does not cover cars over 20 years old for roadside assistance yet the agents continue to charge you. On the 2nd time, I asked that my $96 dollars be refunded to my card, they told me I had to get a check sent to me. Had the 2nd agent not caught it, I would've never known, nor had my money refunded for the previous 6 months they charged me. Today, they charged my card, said they could not refund my money to my card, it would have to be a check. How hard is it to reverse a charge, the same day'? It is a scam and everybody should be aware of it. They know my car would not be covered, yet I have to wait however long(the last check took about a month) to have my money reimbursed. Completely unacceptable. They also could not explain why my down payment on paper was one price and the down payment I paid was $31.00 more than what was on the paper emailed to me.

Desired Outcome

Refund I would've preferred my refund go back to my card today. However, I know that won't happen. I would like for the company to better train their agents and create a system where they can refund money back to our cards instead of having to wait however many days. They also need a program to let the agents know what coverage is allowed on what cars. If that was in play once they entered the year of the car, it would not allow the customer to be charged.

Thanks for forwarding the above-referenced consumer complaint. USAgencies (which is an insurance agency, and referred to herein as "USAgencies") is proud of its longstanding reputation of providing exceptional service, and remains committed to its growing base of customers.

A review of our records indicates that our customer, on February 20, 2020, phoned and renewed her auto policy effective February 24, 2020, with an expiration date of August 24, 2020. The total policy premium, including the policy fee, for the 6-month term was $311; our customer elected to pay a down payment and finance the remaining premium balance. The auto insurance policy provided minimum liability auto insurance coverage (25/50/25) on her 1998 Ford Contour. At the time that the policy was renewed, our customer reviewed and executed policy documents electronically, including the emergency roadside assistance membership agreement. In addition, our customer received a payment receipt detailing her renewal payment and the cost of the roadside assistance membership.

Upon subsequent review, our customer determined and notified us that her policy had been renewed with the emergency roadside assistance membership instead of the accident medical protection and hospital indemnity program that she had previously elected on her prior policy term. Our customer requested that the emergency roadside assistance membership be terminated and that the accident medical protection and hospital indemnity program not be added to her renewal. We have apologized for this error and have refunded our customer for the cost of the emergency roadside assistance membership she paid at the time of renewal.

It should be noted that the emergency roadside assistance program we currently offer to our customers does, in fact, provide towing and roadside assistance to vehicles greater than 20 years old, including vehicles such our customer's 1998 Ford Contour. We have reviewed the emergency roadside assistance member benefits with the agent who assisted our customer to ensure that there is complete clarity that the member benefits provide towing and roadside assistance, irrespective of the age of the covered vehicle.

We understand from our customer that this has been fully resolved.

I was not asked if I wanted the hospital indemnity added back and refused. The response time from complaint to corporate was terrible. Even after asking for the policy to be canceled they sent me the tow fee back only yet kept the policy open. I had to jump through more hoops to have the rest refunded. Although their response is a deflection of my complaint, I have received my money back and will never deal with their company again!
