Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below As I stated before, a truck that does not get driven in winter, and driven mile to work and back a few days a week would not kick up stone chips this big, and what about the rings around the wheels? This is only consistent of tire changing machinesThat's why only one spoke is damaged on each wheel, you didn't drop them on the ground, they carelessly changed a set of tires causing damage to my wheelsI will not accept anything until the owner admits his machine damaged my wheels Regards, [redacted]

Customer called four days after his tire installation stating that he noticed marks on his wheels while tightening lug nutsI returned his call to discuss and he proceeded to tell me all four wheels have scratches on one of the spokes with one wheel having scratches around the beadPer my request, he sent me pictures of the areas on the rim where supposed damage was done. The pictures show a variety of scratch marks in the middle of one spoke on each wheel (tire machines would not make contact here) He also had pictures of one lip of a rim that had some chipping/gouges and very minor scratchesSome of the scratches were so minor that I couldn't possibly verify any sort of damage doneAfter reviewing the pictures from the customer, viewing our surveillance video footage documenting employees installing the tires/wheels, and knowing our machines do not touch the parts of the wheel in question; I determined that there was no proof of any means backing up the claims of the customerAfter discussing my findings with the customer, he became adamant that the damage was done at our shop but could not specify the resolution he soughtCustomer stated the rims were "like brand new" when he brought them to our shop (which he claimed he knew because he polished them MONTHS PRIOR and puts 4-5,miles per year on the truck)I explained that our tire machines do not touch the areas on the rims in question, the heads of the tire machine are soft plastic - MADE TO DETERIORATE AND NOT SCRATCH ALUMINUM WHEELS, and the heads were also just replaced a few days prior to his tire installHe still insisted that the damage was done at our shop but couldn't offer a valid reason as to how it could have happenedHe also couldn't explain how the scratches around the lip appeared on JUST ONE wheel after informing him that we changed two of the tires on one machine and the other two on a different machineInstead, HE CHANGED HIS STORY stating that now he noticed that two of the four wheels were scratched on the lipAt that point, I could only assume he was attempting to get money out of me even though we were not responsible for the "damage".Regardless, the customer was invited to review the surveillance footage and had made an appointment to do so on a MondayHe ended up not coming in then "because there was snow on his tires and wheels" FACTORY TRUCK WHEELS IN WISCONSINand showed up days later unannounced when I was not at the shopBecause of this, I was not able to physically see the rims and the customer couldn't see the surveillance video or the other proof showing the machines couldn't do the damage.Customer called back weeks later and stated that he talked to another shop that told him that we could have scratched the spokes with the arm on the tire machineI explained to him that our machines have a 1-inch thick steel safety screw that prevents the arm from going further over the rim's lip in case the plastic heads breakThis is something that I could have showed him had he actually scheduled (and kept) a time with me to discuss.I explained to him again that the damage in the pictures on the spokes couldn't be from us due to the location and nature of the damage HE CHANGED HIS STORY AGAIN saying all wheels had scratches around the lip of the rim He then demanded that I pay him for new wheels or refinish his wheels or he would leave bad reviews and tell everyone he knows not to come here.Customer Conclusion: Soft plastic heads on a tire machine damaged his aluminum wheelsThe soft plastic heads that are PLASTIC and NON-MARKINGscratched his METAL wheels in places where they never touch the surfaceThese PLASTIC heads also made a variety of different shaped marks and gouged out pieces on the METAL rims in random locations My Conclusion: The guy obviously doesn't want to look at the facts/proof and is just trying to get something for nothing I will not be addressing this any further with this customer

I responding to the letter that was sent to me from your office in regards to a complaint that you received about my businessbackground-">
*** *** contacted me about purchasing tires for his truck (Dodge Ram dually) about mid-November and expressed interest in LT285/75/Kenda Klever MT tires. At that time I question him about the fitment to the truck because the tires are 2" taller and 2" wider making them too wide to fit on his truck. He told me that he had the correct spacers for the rear wheels and that there would be no problem just bolting them on. We scheduled an appointment for 11/26/and he brought in his vehicle and looked over the tires We did not drive the truck prior to the installation to know if there was any vibration prior to us installing tires on the vehicleThe next day we installed the tires on his rims and tried to use the spacers that he provided. However his spacers were aluminum and had separate studs on them that did not cover the factory studs. He did not provide shorter studs and did not authorize us to cut his studs. So the factory studs stuck out of the spacers touching the wheels
*** picked up his vehicle on 11/27/and drove the vehicle home to Oshkosh. I received a call from *** a few days later stating that his truck was shaking. We spoke about the spacers and the issue of having the studs protruding and touching the wheels. I suggested that he bring in the truck and that we could look into a solution. He text me pictures of this and of how he intended on fixing the problem. He text me and told me that he cut the ends off his factory studs and put the wheels back on. He then texted me that his truck was shaking violently and that it didn't feel safe to drive over mph. He also stated that he drove the truck with just wheels on the back and that it was still shaking the same way. So, I again asked him to bring in the vehicle so that I could look at it and try to diagnose and remedy the issue. He told me that he would not be able to drop it off right away and that he would have to let me know when he could bring it over. He brought the vehicle back to my shop on Friday 12/6/and told me that he was going to leave it there for the next week because he was going out of town. We were able to get to it on Wednesday 12/11/to spend a few hours on the vehicle to fully assess the situation. I took the truck for a test drive to check out the claims made by the customer and I drove it on Highway 41. The customer did not come in with the vehicle so that I could verify any issue with him. There was a minor vibration in the rear around - 70 mph that was noticeable.
So I brought the truck in to the shop and removed the rear wheels. We first put all the wheels on the balancer and spun them. We did not do this originally when we installed the tires because it is not necessary when you bead balance them. The balancer was showing all the wheels asking for quite a bit of weight and of the wheels had a bend in them so I informed the customer of this. He insisted that it was from the improper installation of the aluminum spacers. So I told him that I would purchase and replace the wheels to appease him. I bought wheels from a salvage yard off of a similar truck. They were in the same condition as the wheels that we replaced and I have the pictures and receipt to prove it. I then spun those wheels without tires to make sure that they were not bent. Both wheels were within ozof being true so we installed the tires back on the wheels. I then spun the wheels and tires again on the balancer to check how much weight they were asking for and they still asked for quite a bit of weight This is common with large mud tires which is why we typically bead balance them. Then I took the truck again for a test drive and I still noticed a slight vibration at 60-mph but no major shake like the customer had described. So we took the rear wheels off a second time, disposed of the balancing beads, and manually balanced the tires. We had to put a good amount of weight on the wheels and were able to get them within specification for balancing. I took the truck again on a test drive down highway back and forth at 60-mphI noticed a very slight vibration but it had gone away almost completely. I drove the truck a total of times on Highway and felt completely fine and safe doing so I did notice the stiff ride and a very slight vibration at 70+ mph but wasn't any different than any other truck that I have driven in similar shape and condition with over-sized mud tires on it
I called the customer to inform him of what I had found. I also tried to explain that it would not feel exactly the same as it did before with tires that are much larger and more aggressive than what he had on it before. He told me that the truck drove perfectly before he had the tires put on and that he was worried that we might have warped his hubs. I questioned him on this because of the fact that his truck is almost years old has over 290,miles and had quite a bit of wear and tear showing up mechanically and cosmetically Each time I needed to move the vehicle, it did not want to stay running and the motor continued to shut off We had to let it idle for 10-minutes just to take it out of park to get it in and out of the shop Also I questioned how an aluminum spacer being much softer metal could warp a large thick piece of hardened steel that it wasn't directly touching without warping the inside wheels, and how all this could have happened in less than miles as he said it shook violently immediately after he left the shop the first time. He insisted over the phone that it wasn't anything to do with his truck and we must have warped the hubs or spacers too and that we should replace the hubs and spacers as well. I told him that I was driving the truck on the highway as we were on the phone and that it was riding fine and considering the type of tires, tire size and condition of the truck. He asked that I park it and leave the keys in it and throw the old wheels that we had replaced in the back of the truck. He picked up the vehicle on 12/13/and drove it home to Oshkosh.
He then left negative comments on multiple websites about a week later. Then he text me stating that he was disgusted with how his truck shakes and how he would give us one last chance to fix it before he gets a lawyer. I chose not to respond to him after reading his reviews online in which he calls me names and attempts to discredit my company. He continued to text me threats about bringing me to court if I didn't replace more parts on his truck or pay for him to replace them. Then *** sent me a text stating "*** * *** *** *** *** you replace these outer rims. These are the exact same rims that were on my truck. Expect to see me in your shop next week. You and I are gonna have a talk."Now keep in mind I have the receipt for the wheels that we bought and installed and I gave him back his old wheels as well. I don't appreciate the threats and constant barrage of text messages trying to extort money from me and my company. I am done dealing with this situation and will no longer have any communication with ***. We have no idea what he may have done to his truck when he tried to fix the vibration or that the truck didn't have any vibration before he brought it in. We also believe that he is trying to just extort money to fix up a truck that needs a lot of work
I have documentation of all of this I am more than happy to share the documentation and information that I am stating above. Please let me know if you would like me to provide any of this for you. I would also appreciate any insight or suggestions on how we can better deal with situations like this in the future. If you have any questions, please call me at ***
Thanks,

The pictures just prove some of the points I made Gouging and chipping on parts of the rims that don't make contact with tire machine As well as damage that is not consistent with what the customer is claiming happened Entire tire changing process was recorded on surveillance video but customer didn't want to bother looking at evidence As I stated in the last response I will not be addressing this situation any further

Customer called four days after his tire installation stating that he noticed marks on his wheels while tightening lug nuts. I returned his call to discuss and he proceeded to tell me all four wheels have scratches on one of the spokes with one wheel having scratches around the bead. Per my request,...

he sent me pictures of the areas on the rim where supposed damage was done. The pictures show a variety of scratch marks in the middle of one spoke on each wheel (tire machines would not make contact here).  He also had pictures of one lip of a rim that had some chipping/gouges and very minor scratches. Some of the scratches were so minor that I couldn't possibly verify any sort of damage done. After reviewing the pictures from the customer, viewing our surveillance video footage documenting employees installing the tires/wheels, and knowing our machines do not touch the parts of the wheel in question; I determined that there was no proof of any means backing up the claims of the customer. After discussing my findings with the customer, he became adamant that the damage was done at our shop but could not specify the resolution he sought. Customer stated the rims were "like brand new" when he brought them to our shop (which he claimed he knew because he polished them 9 MONTHS PRIOR and puts 4-5,000 miles per year on the truck). I explained that our tire machines do not touch the areas on the rims in question, the heads of the tire machine are soft plastic - MADE TO DETERIORATE AND NOT SCRATCH ALUMINUM WHEELS, and the heads were also just replaced a few days prior to his tire install. He still insisted that the damage was done at our shop but couldn't offer a valid reason as to how it could have happened. He also couldn't explain how the scratches around the lip appeared on JUST ONE wheel after informing him that we changed two of the tires on one machine and the other two on a different machine. Instead, HE CHANGED HIS STORY stating that now he noticed that two of the four wheels were scratched on the lip. At that point, I could only assume he was attempting to get money out of me even though we were not responsible for the "damage".Regardless, the customer was invited to review the surveillance footage and had made an appointment to do so on a Monday. He ended up not coming in then "because there was snow on his tires and wheels" ... FACTORY TRUCK WHEELS IN WISCONSIN... and showed up 5 days later unannounced when I was not at the shop. Because of this, I was not able to physically see the rims and the customer couldn't see the surveillance video or the other proof showing the machines couldn't do the damage.Customer called back weeks later and stated that he talked to another shop that told him that we could have scratched the spokes with the arm on the tire machine. I explained to him that our machines have a 1-inch thick steel safety screw that prevents the arm from going further over the rim's lip in case the plastic heads break. This is something that I could have showed him had he actually scheduled (and kept) a time with me to discuss.I explained to him again that the damage in the pictures on the spokes couldn't be from us due to the location and nature of the damage.  HE CHANGED HIS STORY AGAIN saying all 4 wheels had scratches around the lip of the rim.  He then demanded that I pay him for new wheels or refinish his wheels or he would leave bad reviews and tell everyone he knows not to come here.Customer Conclusion: Soft plastic heads on a tire machine damaged his aluminum wheels. The soft plastic heads that are PLASTIC and NON-MARKING.... scratched his METAL wheels in places where they never touch the surface. These PLASTIC heads also made a variety of different shaped marks and gouged out pieces on the METAL rims in random locations.  My Conclusion:  The guy obviously doesn't want to look at the facts/proof and is just trying to get something for nothing.  I will not be addressing this any further with this customer.

Attached are a few pictures of the damage done to my wheels. I took my truck to a tire and wheel installer and they suggested that the raised face on the wheels could be damaged if the tire installer was not careful while installing tires, the rings around the wheels are "definitely from changing the tires". I am rejecting the business response, because the last time I had spoke to owner, he became very upset and stated, "I'm done with you, I'm done talking to you, I'm wiping my hands clean on this one." then hung up on me, he was on my trucks Bluetooth so my girlfriend heard the whole conversation.
