It took me awhile to decide to post a review I didn't want to jeopardize any warranty work I may need done, but I also want people to be aware of what they're getting in to with UBKB Let me start by saying I genuinely like the people, and am even satisfied (for the most part) with the finished product It was the process that was horrible Pros: - I really liked the people on a personal level I thought Todd was very nice and personable Jen was great and cleaned up a lot of the "messes" throughout Mario was a really nice guy as well - I'm satisfied with the finished product for the most part - I got some nice upgrades for free (although they were done by mistake) - Were really easy to work with when it came to picking our own carpet - They fixed a leak that ended up coming from an upstairs bathtub and not from their work (they originally were going to charge me, but apparently forgot - more on the money issues later) - They were really good about cleaning up DURING the job (when the job ended they left a big pile of junk in my backyard that I had to clean up) Cons: - First con was the fact they didn't write down ANYTHING I had to remind them constantly about all the different things we talked about over and over again - There was a serious issues with communication between Todd, the office, and the workers Again, I had to say things over and over again - Todd was great during the sale I saw him one more time before they closed up the walls Other than those two appearances, I never saw him again He was supposed to come do a final walk through, but he never did - There were certain things we had discussed that I just gave up on: -- They didn't do the shelves in either closet the way we had discussed -- They didn't put matching doorknobs on the closet doors -- They didn't have the cultured marble people come back and fix their mistakes - As another reviewer said, the subbed out a bunch of things (granite, marble, class, mirrors, paint, flooring) even though they say it's all done from in house people - They had to be micromanaged on everything - They said it would take weeks It was pushed back to weeks because RCWilley couldn't get out to do the flooring in time That was okay But then came the glass, the shower, the countertops when all was said and done we were at weeks! - They conveniently never mentioned the $a day they were supposed to pay for each day they go over I was so annoyed with them at this point, however, that I just wanted to be done with it all - They made so many $$$ mistakes I have no idea if they did it on purpose or were just really bad at keeping track of things They tried to charge me for a water heater they didn't put in (the took it off at the end) They did not charge me for the extra carpet for the stairs They did not charge me for the granite upgrade (although I think it was the granite supplier that gave me the upgraded piece because he didn't have the stuff we ordered They screwed up on the shower door and installed the one that was $more for some weird reason (never said anything about this) They didn't settle the final bill which I assumed was supposed to be done during the final walk through that never took place They just picked up the last check from the bank and we never heard from them again - They didn't install the window well ladders they said we had to pay for in order to pass inspection (which obviously wasn't the case because it passed without them) - I had to clean paint splatter off my deck and the outside walls where they cleaned their gear (and I had to clean the paint on my deck chairs where they sat) When I came home one day and saw that they had posted their sign in our yard I immediately pulled it up because I would NOT recommend them to anyone Again, I feel bad, because they genuinely seem like nice people They just have a lot to figure out before I will recommend them to someone

It took me awhile to decide to post a review I didn't want to jeopardize any warranty work I may need done, but I also want people to be aware of what they're getting in to with UBKB Let me start by saying I genuinely like the people, and am even satisfied (for the most part) with the finished product It was the process that was horrible
Pros:
- I really liked the people on a personal level I thought Todd was very nice and personable Jen was great and cleaned up a lot of the "messes" throughout Mario was a really nice guy as well
- I'm satisfied with the finished product for the most part
- I got some nice upgrades for free (although they were done by mistake)
- Were really easy to work with when it came to picking our own carpet
- They fixed a leak that ended up coming from an upstairs bathtub and not from their work (they originally were going to charge me, but apparently forgot - more on the money issues later)
- They were really good about cleaning up DURING the job (when the job ended they left a big pile of junk in my backyard that I had to clean up)
Cons:
- First con was the fact they didn't write down ANYTHING I had to remind them constantly about all the different things we talked about over and over again
- There was a serious issues with communication between Todd, the office, and the workers Again, I had to say things over and over again
- Todd was great during the sale I saw him one more time before they closed up the walls Other than those two appearances, I never saw him again He was supposed to come do a final walk through, but he never did
- There were certain things we had discussed that I just gave up on:
-- They didn't do the shelves in either closet the way we had discussed
-- They didn't put matching doorknobs on the closet doors
-- They didn't have the cultured marble people come back and fix their mistakes
- As another reviewer said, the subbed out a bunch of things (granite, marble, class, mirrors, paint, flooring) even though they say it's all done from in house people
- They had to be micromanaged on everything
- They said it would take weeks It was pushed back to weeks because RCWilley couldn't get out to do the flooring in time That was okay But then came the glass, the shower, the countertops when all was said and done we were at weeks!
- They conveniently never mentioned the $a day they were supposed to pay for each day they go over I was so annoyed with them at this point, however, that I just wanted to be done with it all
- They made so many $$$ mistakes I have no idea if they did it on purpose or were just really bad at keeping track of things They tried to charge me for a water heater they didn't put in (the took it off at the end) They did not charge me for the extra carpet for the stairs They did not charge me for the granite upgrade (although I think it was the granite supplier that gave me the upgraded piece because he didn't have the stuff we ordered They screwed up on the shower door and installed the one that was $more for some weird reason (never said anything about this) They didn't settle the final bill which I assumed was supposed to be done during the final walk through that never took place They just picked up the last check from the bank and we never heard from them again
- They didn't install the window well ladders they said we had to pay for in order to pass inspection (which obviously wasn't the case because it passed without them)
- I had to clean paint splatter off my deck and the outside walls where they cleaned their gear (and I had to clean the paint on my deck chairs where they sat)
When I came home one day and saw that they had posted their sign in our yard I immediately pulled it up because I would NOT recommend them to anyone
Again, I feel bad, because they genuinely seem like nice people They just have a lot to figure out before I will recommend them to someone

Utah Basement Company finished my brand new Ivory Home basementI was referred to them by my superintendent and later found out they have finished a lot of basements in my neighborhoodThey did a superb job They promised me 7-weeks to finish my sq ft and the work was completed weeks late, due to my inability to finalize the design of the kitchenEverything was within budget though and I wasn't asked to pay for anything more than what was initially agreed toThe workers were so respectful of my home and I felt comfortable enough to go visit them while they were workingI loved that they cleaned up every nightMy wife and I would walk it every night and text Jen if we had any questions or concernsOverall, I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a beautiful basement in their homeThey are professional, creative, friendly and completely reliableMy dad, who is a retired contractor raved about their professionalism and neatness/cleanlinessThanks again guys!

We had our basement finished in January of this year with ToddWe met him during one of my wife’s chemo treatmentsHe was receiving treatment as well and was so nice and friendly to everyone there that when we found out what he did for work, we had to have him out to look at our basementAnyways, we didn't write a review initially after they were doneIt didn’t cross our mindsBut we had a toilet overflow last week in the basement and the baseboards had some water damage on themWe called Todd to see if he could help out and sure enough, he sent a guy out that Saturday morning to re-paint themI had to take some time to repay himTodd, Jen, Mario and the rest of his company are good peopleWe felt comfortable having them in our homeWe knew money was never his bottom lineHe just wanted us to be happyWe loved it when he said he’s never had a customer that he’d be afraid to run into at smithsThey created a beautiful basement for usIt wasn’t a 100% perfect processWe didn’t expect it to beBut we know the kind of trashy contractors that are out there, so we gave them some slack and they reciprocated We are so happy we met him and so happy with their work
