In discussing the work I wanted to have done on my two vintage chairs, Gary steered me vigorously away from certain materials and told me I'd be happy with, and save money by using a remnant he had in the shop. Although the work he did was technically "solid", I was extremely disappointed in the material... a "leather look" vinyl. You can look at them and they seem pretty good, but don't try to sit down! The horrible loud "squeaking" of the synthetic material would make a great comedy prop. It's ridiculous. I immediately asked Gary about it when he was done, as it was stunningly loud from the first sit, and he told me it would improve with time. It has not. I went online to look for remedies, but apparently there is nothing to be done with this sort of material. So I spent over $700 for a couple of dust collecting whoopie cushions. I'm not amused. Should have known better when I saw the condition of his shop.
