Review: This company has failed to produce a receipt for a smooth top range that they installed in my home. We owed the company a balance and they stated that when we paid the balance they would give us the receipt. Balance was paid in full and not we are getting the run around. We've been told several different stories as to why a receipt is not available. At first we were given a receipt for a dishwasher. When we called Maytag and gave the serial number on the smooth top that was installed in our home and they stated that the product was purchased in March 2011, well our house fire was not until February 2014. The construction company, I feel are treating us as devalued customers or just another number. They got their money, now they could care less about whether we have a working product in our home. They continue to say they do not warranty products but do warranty their labor for 1 year. Well we understand that. Our smooth top stopped working well in advance of a year being up. But they would not provide the receipt due to the balance being owed. Without a receipt even while the product was under warranty the warranty would have been void from the manufacture. We explained the situation to Maytag they say without a receipt they cannot even consider doing anything. We have asked the construction company to contact [redacted]'s credit department if the product was in fact charged and purchased at [redacted]'s. Having approximate dates of purchase should have made the search easier but we are being told by the construction company that [redacted]'s has no record. This is hard to believe. Companies are taken to court all the time and when they have to produce records they are available or the company is at a loss! All we want is our smooth top working. We have had a good working relationship with V&J Construction until now. They have done work in our home more than once and we have recommended them to our neighbors and friends with whom they have also done work for, but no longer as I feel we are being treated unfairly and V&J could care less as to whether or not our smooth top is repaired. Remember they got their money, paid in full!! My last conversation with the owner got me this response, "Well I'll g to [redacted]'s again and have them dig deeper but I can't give you a receipt that I can't produce". We had been talking back and forth with the companies secretary. We would get one response from her and a totally different response from the owner's son now for about 3 weeks. The owner's son stated that their secretary knew nothing and she is paid to read the notes that are left for her. I don't think I would work for a company that had that opinion of me.Desired Settlement: Provide the receipt or be willing to at least pay half the repairs and half the labor charge. If no receipt is provided than any resolution that Maytag is willing to provide even though the product is out of warranty is null and void!! Leaving us with an approximate repair bill ranging from 200.00 to 300.00 dollars. The cheapest labor is 75 dollars and the cheapest part needed 190.00. Fair is fair!! Good business practices keeps good customers and brings more with referrals of a job well done.

Response:

This customer's account was extremely delinquent. They had an outstanding balance of over $900.00. They finally paid the balance almost one year later. Our policy on appliance deliveries is that we leave the receipt with the appliance owners manuals etc during installation. We also usually keep a copy for our records. Neither the customer nor we could locate the original receipts. We have tried numerous times to get [redacted]s to research the receipt with no luck. They found the receipt today (5/13/2014) and we have contacted the customer so that they can pick it up at their convenience. We generally keep a copy for our records as a courtesy for the customer. This customer was completely rude and spoke to the entire office staff in a rude manor on many occasions. Thankfully, we were finally paid the balance in full.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

V&J Construction did supply us with a receipt on today 5/13/14. They are not truthful in stating that we were given receipts and owners manuals for the appliance installed in our home. This NEVER happened!! Neither were they truthful in stating that we were rude to the entire office staff. We were persistent and kept insisting that they do their job. We stated what we wanted and V&J could not deliver. A receipt for the stove installed in our home by them was all we wanted. We were told they had receipts from the appliances installed and they could not produce. Yes our account was delinquent but we maintained contact with V&J. V&J did extend this courtesy to us in allowing the account to linger. We had every intention of paying and they knew this. They were paid in full on March 27, 2014. Speaking of rude, when we went into the office to get the receipt, the secretary did not even acknowledge our presence, she was on the phone. A receipt was laying o the counter. We were not sure if it was ours. We looked at it and then asked the secretary if it was ours, then she replied, that's what [redacted]'s gave us. Let's this chalk this all up as an unnecessary experience that we will live an learn from. ALWAYS request receipts upon installation of a product in your home from whatever construction company or contractor doing work in your home. We are still left with a stove that does not work ,an expired warranty and a conflict with the date of purchase on the receipt and the information in the data base for Maytag. [redacted]'s states they only retain information in their system for 6 months, so you tell me where did the receipt appear from on today? After speaking with the assistant manage at [redacted]'s and he speaking with his office personnel the receipt was not obtained from the local [redacted]'s store. I pray that no one else will have this experience. Being passive is not the way to get results, neither is being rude therefore I state again that we were not rude BUT DEFINITELY PERSISTENT!!!!!!!!!!!!
