Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
I contacted Honda America Customer Service [redacted] and talked to a representative (Alba on 03/15/2018). She stated that the vehicle is out of warranty, therefore they cannot authorize a battery replacement. The problem of the IMA system has been reoccurring since 2010, 4 years after the purchase of the vehicle. The IMA system has not performed as designed and millage performance was never reached. Superior Court of The State of California, Case N0.[redacted] states that Honda is aware of the poor performance of this vehicle. Honda extended the warranty for the IMA battery system a full year for models constructed in 2003-2008.
What I am being told by Honda America and our local dealership is this: Yes, we knew of your cars complications. Yes, we could have replaced the battery because we faced a lawsuit for this specific issue. Yes, we know that what is wrong is due on our part, because on more than one occasion we temporarily fixed different concerns regarding your faulty IMA system. In conclusion: Yes, you are now one year out of warranty and your only ultimatum is to pay approximately $4,000 out of pocket to fix what we already knew to be broken.
The miles per gallon that our Hybrid maintains underperforms, and so this makes our Honda Civic Hybrid equivalent to a standard Honda Civic. If I would have known that from the beginning then I would have purchased a standard Civic instead of a Hybrid. We would not be having this conversation because there would be no inoperative IMA System that causes a battery malfunction. Now, I am forced to plea a case of injustice, and rightly so. After the conversation with Honda America and our local Honda Dealership, I truly believed that they were performing temporary fixes until the vehicle was out of warranty to inform us that the battery has been the real issue all along. I will not pay out of pocket for Honda’s mistake. Sincerely,Oscar [redacted]
