This in response to the claims and charges filed by Mr. [redacted]:1. Worker urinating in his yard: When Mr. [redacted] let us know about this we immediately offered him the option of canceling the agreement, which he declined. 2. ...
Chunks of wood and debris falling on the car: I personally inspected and saw the saw dust on the cars. I told Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] that if there were any scratches or dents on either or both cars I would pay 100% of the cost to repair them. Nothing further was ever said about it.3. Workers were subcontracted by Valdino: Absolutely correct. That is standard operating procedure for the roofing industry. In fact, many of our competitors use the same crews we use. 4. Shingles not installed properly and not lying flat: The shingles were not lying completely flat due to the install being done in October. Shingles need warm days with sunshine to lay flat and have the adhesive adhere. This does not indicate improperly installed or defective shingles, or that they will not work as intended. Additionally, this job has a “Golden Pledge Warranty” which has a lifetime warranty on the entire system (including the cost of installation), and a 25 year warranty on the workmanship (including misapplication of flashings). 5. GAF inspector said job was not done professionally / one side cut improperly: This is an absolutely inaccurate statement. The inspector agreed that had the shingles been installed in August as Mr. [redacted] told him they were, he would have expected them to be laying flat. When informed that the roof was installed in October – NOT August as Mr. [redacted] told him – the inspector indicated that was to be expected. GAF – the largest roofing supply manufacturer in North America - is particular as to the companies they bestow the “Master Elite” title to. They asked us to simply nail a couple shingles down and no additional action was needed (we have the report stating such). If they thought we were unprofessional they would have removed the Master Elite classification from us. In GAF’s opinion, this matter is resolved and closed.6. Admitted firing the crew after the Hymn job: Absolutely incorrect. That company did numerous jobs for us this spring.7. Picking up nails months later: Hours were spent (including by me personally) sweeping the entire lawn and surrounding areas with a magnet sweeper. A hand held magnet was also used to check under bushes and shrubs, decking, patio, and flower gardens. There is nothing substantiating this claim, which was made months after the installation.8. Broken gutter guards: We were not told about this until well after the job was completed when we tried to get paid for the work we had done. Despite the fact that there is no proof whatsoever that we were responsible for damaging them, we agreed to replace and install all new gutter guards that Mr. [redacted] claims we damaged and we have completed that.9. Bad scratch in the sliding door: This was a claim we first heard about 8 months after the job was completed. Again, there is absolutely no evidence to substantiate this claim. This was also mentioned only after another attempt to get paid was made.10. They left a message yelling at me: This is perhaps the most absurd part of the complaint. They idea that we would yell at a customer is so ridiculous I should not even have to address it. if Mr. [redacted] has a copy of that message I would ask that he kindly produce it. This job was completed on October 27, 2016. To date, Mr. [redacted] has paid just over 50% of the contract price. We have been extremely accommodating to Mr. [redacted] and responded to every one of his concerns. We have taken no steps until now to collect the rest of the money he owes us, despite the hardship it placed on us during the off-season, when roofing companies generally have no revenue coming in. We take 100% accountability and responsibility if we are at fault when it comes to our customers and our history will confirm that.
