Review: On February 27, 2014, I requested Valentine to come to look at our septic tanks because our tank alarm had gone off. When they came out, they indicated that the float was not working and recommended it be replaced along with the pump (which was not broken). They replaced both the float and the pump, but not complete rewiring the job. On the invoice they submitted, they charged us for all services, including rewiring, and indicated they would be back to finish rewiring in the spring. I contacted them several times (4 times) to request finish of the job and to indicate that the bill would be only partially paid until the job was complete. The job cost was $774.41. I paid $400 on March 31, 2014 and indicated that the remainder would be paid when they finished the job. Despite several requests to have them come out to complete the job, they have failed to do so. Furthermore, they have charged us interest on the bill, when I indicated that I would not pay any interest on the bill because the job was not finished.Desired Settlement: Because they have failed to follow through on their prior commitment, we do not trust that they will complete the services in a satisfactory manner. Therefore, we will have to call another service to come and complete the work, and that will result in additional cost. As a result, I request that all amounts remaining due to Valentine, including any finance charges they have attempted to charge, and the remaining $374.41 be adjusted to $0.

On February 24, 2014 *** requested service. Our tech stopped out and determined that the mound pump needed to be replaced. He and another tech returned on February 25 and replaced the mound pump and float. Mr. *** was onsite at the time of service. We did not replace the wire at the time of service due to the frozen ground and the ice build up on the box. We billed the *** for the services to date. We indicated on the invoice that we would return in spring to rewire, but did not state that the rewiring charges were included in the bill. We would not be able to bill ahead as we do not know exactly how much time and material would be needed.

I spoke with Mrs. *** once and explained that we only billed for the service performed. The tech that was onsite tried to call Mrs. several times after I spoke with her, but was unable to reach her. Mr. called and our tech spoke with him, explained the situation and Mr. understood what was happening and seemed satisfied with the conversation.

We have not returned to do the rewiring because *** has not paid for the work that was done in February. We did receive a payment of $400.00 on March 31, 2014. Interest has been charged because the balance of $374.41 is past due.

We are willing to waive the interest charged to date if *** pays the balance on the invoice immediately. We will return and finish the work after payment has been made. There will be an additional charge for the remainder of the work.

We feel that our charges are fair and correct. In an effort to settle this matter, we propose the following:

Upon receipt of the current balance of $374.41, we will return to repair the wire that was in the frozen ground, up to one hour, at no charge. This was not billed in the original charges.

Called for a price for a hot water heater. Was told approx $700 (which was in line with some other places I called). I called 2 wks later to have them install it and when I got the bill, I was charged $920! I called to complain and they took $100 off the bill, but I still feel like I was overcharged. Get a price in writing before dealing with them. They were very nice and helpful when I called and so far I am satisfied with the product and service, just not the cost. It is nice and convenient that one company does heating/cooling/plumbing.
