Valley Farm Market Reviews (1)

Dear Revdex.com,In response to complaint ID [redacted], the following is a recap of the situation you have presented,A woman named [redacted], came to our bakery dept, to order 2 engagement cakes for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 pick-up. Our bakery manager, Luda, personally took her order. While...

writing the order, in the Special Instructions section, Luda wrote 1/2 sheet for [redacted] and [redacted]... the woman immediately corrected her stating that [redacted] and [redacted] get the 1/4 sheet cake; so Luda changed the 1/2 to read 1/4 and proceeded to write the 4 sheet inscription for Maureen and Julian. The bakery mgr. then proceeded to get the rest of the information for each cake, including color scheme and style. [redacted] mentioned she would like the 4 sheet cake to have a cowboy type theme and Luda told her she would find something. Upon completion of writing the order, the bakery mgr. repeated the entire order back to [redacted] and asked if this was correct. [redacted] replied, “Yes, that is correct”, Luda said okay, we will have them ready for pick-up Saturday by the time you requested, thank you. A bakery employee, Tyrese, was working at the table directly in front of Luda and [redacted] and confirmed the order war repeated and verified by the woman. On Saturday, the bakery mgr. asked an employee, Jordan to call [redacted] so she could let her know that she found a cowboy style photo-cake frame that would work well on the cake, but that there would be an additional $10 charge if we used it. The employee called the number on the order form and left a message for [redacted] to call back regarding her order. Since no one called back, the bakery mgr. decided to use the photo frame and not charge the customer the fee.Around 6 pm on Saturday, a man came to pick up the order [redacted] placed, looked at the cakes and left with them. About 1/2 hour later, the bakery mgr. received a call complaining the cakes [redacted] had ordered were mixed up. Luda immediately found the order form and assured that the cakes were made exactly as ordered. The customer then spoke to me repeating that the cakes were mixed up. I assured the customer the cakes were made as the order read, since the bakery mgr. brought the order form to me, and that we did as instructed, as well as the cakes were picked up and accepted as they were without question. The customer hung up on me. Then another person called me as will regarding the cakes and I again explained the cakes were made exactly as ordered. The person speaking asked what we were going to do about it and I reminded them we were closing in about 1/2 hour so there would not be enough time to make 2 new cakes for them. The man stated that he wanted a refund for the cakes. Itold him to return the cakes to the store and we would. Shortly after, 2 men came into the store with the cakes. I showed them the order that was placed and confirmed by the woman who placed the order, and again the older man said we must have mixed them up and wanted a full refund for the cakes. I told him to follow me to customer service counter and would give him a full refund. As I walked toward the customer service counter Iheard the man yell to the bakery mgr. not to take his cakes away. I told the man I was going to refund your cakes. He said fine but the cakes are going with him too. I said I was not going to give a full refund on 2 cakes and give you the cakes too. Then I told the man the best I could do right now since the store was closing in 10 minutes, was to refund both cakes in full and they stay here or I would refund $10 and you could take the cakes with you. Reluctantly the man took the $10 refund and the cakes along with a photo copy of the original cake order.Over 3 weeks later, I now receive a complaint notice from the Revdex.com with statements from someone other than the woman who actually placed the cake orders. Apparently the customer is convinced we are in error and not themselves as well as we are convinced the opposite. Since the only satisfactory solution the customer will accept is a full refund on the cakes, I will grant their request. Additionally, I offer my apology for the confusion and their inconvenience and wish the best in the future to the recipients of the engagement cakes.
Sincerely,
David V[redacted], Mgr.
