Valley Medical did not properly submit a medical claim to Medicare. I have been billed a substantial amount of money, that I do not have.On 8/29/13 I went for an annual physical at Valley Medical Group on [redacted]. in [redacted].After receiving a bill, and notifying the billing department of the error, they claim Medicare does not cover annual physical. I called Medicare, who claims they do cover well care annual physicals for established patients. Medicare said the doctors office needed to resubmit it. The billing department said, "NO" physicals are not covered by Medicare.My complaint is that I am entitled to a yearly exam. In addition to the exam, [redacted] said I needed a tetanus booster. After receiving the bill, I learned that Medicare does not cover the tetanus booster. Now, if I knew the shot and exam were NOT covered; Do you think I would have had them? I am a disable person who lives on a fixed income. I certainly would not have gone. In addition, don't you think that the doctors offices should tell their patients before administering or seeing a patient, or at least tell them what is or is not covered.Desired SettlementThe bill needs to be resubmitted to Medicare. Medicare pays 80% of the bill, and the patient is responsible for the other 20% I should not be responsible for the booster tetanus. I was not informed what was covered and what was not. Because of the nature of this compliant(involving protected health information) we are not authorized by the patient to release information about his care or treatment at Valley Medical Group. Please be aware that we encourage all patients to understand thier indivudual insurance plans and benefits, and for the date of service in question the patient did sign an Advance Benificiary Notice for Non Coverage of Medicare.
