Review: I was referred by a friend to enroll at Valley medical institute [redacted], **. I lived in [redacted], ** at the time and I drove down to the office approximately (April 2014) personally and spoke with [redacted] the director, which I didn't know at the time was the director. She gave me a tour and we spoke about the cost. I asked her if I qualify to enroll since I don't obtain a high school diploma or GED. She says, Yes when you enroll you take an entrance exam. So the following week I went to give her $500 towards the deposit for dental asst. She took the money gave me a receipt and said class starts next week don't forget it's $375. So the following weeks I went to class and noticed that if the girls were late with payments on Fridays they would get harassed on Monday asking to come to office in the middle of class, even texting the teacher to send the people who didn't pay. At the time I enrolled I wasn't aware that you only need your radiology certificate to work as a dental assistant. A certified dental assistant needs her DANB certificate and that comes with years of experience. So I went to class passed all my test had good grades. When I was done with school they offer to help you look for internship and a job which they didn't. So in August or September I get a call from [redacted] asking for my address to send my certificate. She said I didn't need to do my internship since it's been several months. I give her my new address since I moved from [redacted] at the time to [redacted]. I waited 3 weeks and asked her for my certificate and she tells me I can't get my certificate because I don't have my diploma. She had to be kidding me right?! So I asked her if I can take exam in [redacted] since I'm closer and no transportation, she tells me no she doesn't want to put the burden on a teacher I wasn't getting taught by. So I asked her on certain days if I had a ride can I take it in [redacted]. She said she had a busy schedule she will call me. So I asked her to get my money $2500 back since I didn't have a certificate and can't take my entrance exam. SHE LAUGHS! Now I'm upset telling her now your asking me for the diploma when I met with you I told you I didn't have it she says well its all over the website, so I told her I didn't get my info online I spoke with you in person and you never request me to come take the exam when I made my payments you just took the money. Their only interest is money! They do not care about people that are struggling to get ahead in life.Desired Settlement: $2500 reimbursement.
